'Bump-bum,p. Bump-bump bump-bump' Lung burning, heart pounding, feet sore and bleeding, legs aching, mind racing. These were all the sympotms Nyx showed as she used her strong legs to propel her up the wall. Turning her hands into paws, she used her claws to help her climb. She had to keep moving until she knew she was safe. And only one thing ran through her head. 'Grand Central, Grand Central, Grand Central.'

She had no idea what it meant, but she knew that that was where she had to go. That was the only place she would be safe. The woman, back at the labs had told her so. Once there she needed to used the green paper in her pocket to buy a ticket. And then get on the train and leave. But she had to hurry. She couldn't get caught. She couldn't go back.

Nyx slowed her running for a moment and usual sounds reached her ears. Her eyes scanned the area before her. She had made her way out of an alley and stumbled upon the main road. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight. Everything was so bright, in a dim sort of way. Nyx blinked rapidly as she forced her eyes to adjust. Even though she only saw everything on a gray scale, there was still so much to look at. There were these signs she didn't understand, simply because no one had taught her to read. And the people! She had never seen so many doctors!

Suddenly she felt quite scared. She had never been outside the lab walls. She didn't know any of the people here. Suddenly, turning around and going back didn't seem a like a bad idea. She had a nice warm kennel, to meals a day, if she was really good she got three meals! And every once in a while they would let her out and walk around. She was a good girl. Obedient, the doctors called her. She had a pretty good life.... with a few exceptions.

She shook her head. 'No!' She told herself. 'Grand Central, Grand Central, GRAND CENTRAL!'

She sat on the bus for almost half an hour before she saw something that interested her. "WOW!" She placed her hands on the glass and peered out the window at the large building. It had a huge glass door which slid open and closed like magic as people walked by it, and towards the top of the build there was the word 'MALL' in bright lights. "M...a...L..l... Maaaaalllll." She leaned back and looked at the red button. She pressed it, and once more the 'ding' sound came. The man pulled the bus over. She stood up and moved to the door. "Thanks mister!" She grinned brightly as she stepped off the bus and onto the sidewalk.
"Yeah, sure, whatever kid." He closed the doors and drove off.
She blinked for a few seconds before she crossed the street with a large group of people and made her way over to the magic door. As she walked towards it, it slid open. She paused, and blinked at it and watched other people walk through. They had doors like this back at the lab. But she was never allowed to go through them until earlier that day. And even then, she had been yelled at, and they shot things at her. She bit onto her bottom lip as she carefully walked through the door. But it didn't close of her, or make a weird sound, so she assumed it was okay. But it was when she got inside that Nyx realized how alone she had been. There were so many people! And they all looked different! Her eyes became as big as a child's in a candy store as she watched people talking, laughing, walking along their ways as they normally did. But for Nyx, this was something new. Everything was new. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the people. None of it was familiar. She whined softly as she looked around. Suddenly, her awe was gone, and replaced by fear. So many people. She had never been in a place with so many people before. She only had the doctor come see her. She frowned as she moved back towards the magic door, not liking the way that this felt. She turned and ran back out into the street. A loud blaring sound reached her ears just before she felt the impact on her body. She screamed as she was thrown over the car which had hit her. In mid-air, her body changed, her skin replaced by fur, her ears, eyes, hands, and feet became much more cat-like as she flipped her body over and landed with grace on her feet. She let out her breath and rubbed her left hip. "OWWWWIE!" She plopped herself down in the middle of the road and pouted.  

Rachel was up to her old tricks. Pick pocketing, stealing from stores, the usual morning routine. She was in shadow form when she saw the car accident. After witnessing the girl turn into a cat girl she smiled and softly, "Aww, que cute." When people started to chase her down, Rachel sprang into action. Running behind the crowd, her shadow combining with her made her into one huge shadow looking monster. Looking at the crowd she just said one word, "Boo."
