I kinda feel for you on the ranking thing. But after your first semester of college, really nothing you did in high school will matter anymore, so don't fret about that too much. I ranked 5th in my class in HS, but I also scored higher on standardized tests than anyone ranked above me; you're obviously aware of the fact that the ranking system is flawed, so don't put toooo much stock into it.
Funding for the arts is lower than that for sports at almost every school, I'm sure, and it's got to be a money issue; sports generate more revenue than most arts programs do.
Your bathrooms sound gross. I went to a poor high school in the middle of the country and even our bathrooms weren't that bad, save for maybe the ones at the football field.
Your senior song is TERRIBLE. If the majority of your class wants it changed, why won't they do it? It's YOUR damn graduation.
All of the little issues and politics of schools almost make me want to change intended career paths to go into school administration.
But at least you're graduating, right? So you won't have to deal with that place anymore. You'll just move on to the next institution that will also quickly make its flaws evident.

@Graduation song: I know right? The lady in charge isn't even our senior class representative. She gave us 4 choices on the ballot that she liked and that everyone else hated. We couldn't even nominate anything. She's acting like it's her song.

I can actually totally relate a lot. Senior year was 4 years ago for me, but I can still remember some of those frustrated feelings very very vividly.

I live in California where the Governator reduced the budget for education again during my 7th grade year. When I was about to graduate middle school, I totally just said "******** it" and applied for a private school.
I did not want to go to the public high school nearby. More than six thousand minority teenagers with nothing better to do than smoke or have loud sex. I'm a sophomore at a Catholic school, and I love it. <3

In the hallways(not sex sex)/restroom/house-thing in the courtyard nobody goes to. More than half of the kids do drugs or drink and boast about it in the halls in front of teachers.

It has good points, too. Lots of languages, decent art programs, good teachers.
Terrible counselors. They got me into the messes I had to deal with today. They don't know any of the students, with an exception of Mr. O'Connor, the college counselor.

Only thing I don't like about my current high school is that there's only three Modern Language choices; Spanish, French, and Mandarin. I wanted to take a non-p***y language like German. D:<
Most of the teachers double as coaches, seeing as how my school is very athletic. There's only one or two mandatory liturgies each year, but I have to attend all of them since I'm involved with Campus Ministry (walked around school with ashes on my forehead for Ash Wednesday).

@OP: Makes me kinda upset, schools being all unfair and all. I'd speak about my own situation, but I don't wanna. >__>;;
Gotta say though, sounds kinda like my first high school. XD

We just have two. Also, theres a s**t ton of potheads in my school but none of us run around going "HEY GUYS LOOK I SMOKE POT, I'M ******** HIGH". We're all just chill with each other and rather peaceful, its nice. I can't really relate to you guys, all I know it that, that must suck so much d**k.
