Story Title: Silence
Category: Horror/Romance
Summary: During the chapter 86 “vs. Dragonite”
For the leader of the Elite Four, The Kanto Champion, who denied humanity, who had the world at his fingertips, there could be no sound but the silence. His music was his Dragonite, that lovely discordant howl as it plunged through the windy skies. The heavy flutter of my cape, as it whipped around him. For he was the king of dragons, all too ready to shake this planet into rebirth. After that, he would transcend this pitiable humanity and become a God- his heart soared as high as his dragons could at the thought.
When you are a God, the variation between humans is the variation of one grain of sand to the next. How could he see it from where he was in the sky? When he made the tremors shake, the lightning crash, and the water pour, nothing mattered. As far as Lance was concerned, the only truth was clear. He already had won. There were no threats left. Far too boring…
Out of nowhere, a phenomena would come screaming at him with a battle cry, at the top of their lungs, running up the mountain slope. Someone that was foolish enough to defy him? “Hm?” His lips twitched in delight, trying this new flavor of defiance. “Gonna try?”
He was now close enough to the ground to get a good look at his challenger. An obstinate mismatch- unhealthily short, a huge hat swallowed their head, feathers were placed precariously on top. If as a person, they were simple and disgraceful- their team was much worse. Lance couldn’t help staring in a stunned double take.
“But why aren’t your Pokemon evolved!?” Lance demanded an explanation.
“I stopped their evolution.” The challenger answered.
“You’re weird.” Was the god’s conclusion. Not that he could care less. He had already transcended humanity. What could it change, that this challenger was weird? Go ahead and try, you pathetic human. So small, so insignificant. I’ve never seen such weak unevolved Pokemon. They are little toys. A Caterpie- that thing only knows string shot, and you dare have the gall to face my dragon army. You proudly state you cancel their evolutions. Lance smirked, crossing his arms. Amusing. Caterpie to use against the Kanto elite champion…in retrospect, it shouldn’t have been any more surprising than a human against a god.
The battle that ensued was the most difficult Lance could imagine. The child played with Lance’s very soul like a toy with her unsettling words. I understand you, she whispered.
You’re magnificent, she breathed.
Despite appearances of a naïve child, this challenger was dangerously clever to appeal to his ego. A challenger who bares their soul to him, yet whose gender and identity remains a mystery. A challenger who treats their Pokemon with empathy rivaled only by his own. A challenger who cries soft, beautiful tears in the midst of battle, because fighting saddens her. Yet Yellow would not be afraid. Even though Lance was Yellow’s opponent, Yellow would selflessly save him.
The impossible enigma.
Lance found himself shaking uncontrollably at the sound of Yellow’s voice. His teeth clenched viciously in rage. It was filled with pity, crying out to an empty soul. Never before had Lance met a perfect human being. Yellow shouldn’t exist. Yellow COULDN’T exist. Because that would mean that Lance was mistaken. Since a God such as he could never be mistaken...that meant he was not a God.
He had only one choice… Lance wanted her to plead for her life instead of his. She was telling him that they understood each other as fellow children of the Viridian…Yellow didn’t understand him. Yellow talked too much. Yellow had to shut up. He would no longer hear this child’s words over the howls of his dragons, and the rushing storm…
“Dragonite! Fire Blast!!”
A deafening blast of the explosion, the all encompassing inferno of hell that was the god’s judgment, encased the tiny, fragile child, drowning out her cries. Yellow was cast down into the bubbling lava pit of a volcano, which would immediately scald off the exquisite child’s innocent flesh. Lance’s smirk widened as he heard the scream of torment, his music. There was no longer questions in Lance’s mind, as he brought his dragon to circle down into the black, choking clouds of ash. It turned out that the child was no mystery after all, simply a human that could die. Now, finally, at long last...
There could be no sound but the silence.
