Las Vegas, Nevada. This town started out as little more than a tiny mining town in the Nevada desert, and soon exploded into a boomtown. Since it's creation as a railroad town in 1905, Las Vegas has always had lots of gambling, crime, and thieves, and this all increased in 1931, when gambling was legalized.
The Las Vegas Strip is arguably the most popular area of this city of nearly 2 million people. It contains many of the casinos and hotels that help fuel Las Vegas' economy, which centres almost solely around tourism and gambling, at least in this area.

The year is 2014.
A multi-billionaire banker named John Fitzgerald began to buy out many of the casinos along the strip. He allowed them to be separately controlled by their own companies, though Mr. Fitzgerald owns them all.
His plan was to build one of the world's most secure banks. Using what used to be a McDonald's in a strip mall, Mr. Fitzgerald built the first branch of his bank, the aptly named Fitzgerald Bank. It's a large, art deco style four storey building...but it's most impressive feature is it's vault. It's not held inside this branch at all. It's held underneath the Bellagio casino, a few blocks up the street. From there he opened a large number of bank branches all within a few blocks of the casinos, and each hold their money in a massive vault underground. All of these vaults are connected by miles upon miles of tunnels so large a small car can drive through them. They are, it is claimed, impenetrable, and the vaults contain more money than the sum of everything at Fort Knox.

A pair of thieves are going to test that theory...but they'll need all the help they can get.

The Setting

The RP obviously takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and not just the Strip. All of Las Vegas is open for you to enjoy. It is rather similar to modern day Las Vegas, with a few differences: security cameras are present in quite a few more areas than usual, police patrols are frequent down the Strip, and many small buildings or motels near large casinos have been taken over to serve as branches for the Fitzgerald Bank, now the largest and most popular bank in Nevada, and most of the lower West Coast area. The RP will NOT immediately take place near the heist, instead, it will take place a significant time before it, to allow for more RPing to be done as the team builds.

As of the start of the RP, nobody knows of the underground safes. This information will be learned by James and Riley, and from there, passed on to their teammates. Police do have access to the information at will.

The Rules

1. I am the owner of this RP, and as such rule completely. You break any rule, you get 1 (one) warning.
2. On literacy, I follow the quality over quantity rule. That means as long as the post is well written, it's fine by me that it's short. HOWEVER. However, that being said, I want at least 2-3 lines a post, so long as it's well written. On the other side of the coin, I want the posts to be controlled. Don't make huge novels per post, even if you are capable of it.
3. PM me profiles under the name of Elvis' hit song about the setting of this RP. If it helps, ZZ Top also covered this song.
4. Don't godmod...there might be a bit of shooting involved but not much.
5. Don't autohit, in the same vein as 4. We will have a few fights, so no autohits. That being said, remember to not only give the hits but take the hits.
6. Don't kill ANY player character without permission from me and the player. BOTH players must PM me this decision.
7. Keep the descriptions not too graphic. Like, don't perfectly describe how someone's head explodes. And in the same vein, no cybering, please.
8. Romance is definitely allowed...but we ARE thieves...not everyone is sincere.
9. Don't post profiles, and don't post unless I tell you to.
10. Here's another profile PM title hint, a lyric from the song: "I'm gonna give it everything I got, Lady Luck please let the dice stay hot."
11. Rules can and will change. Check back often.

Profiles

Thieves

Name: James Colt
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: James
Specialization: Team Leader
Allegiance: Thief
Weapons: Makarov PM, Assissted Opening Knife
Personality: Cheerful and carefree, James is often mistaken for a normal person, instead of a thief. He's always making jokes, no matter what the situation is, whether it be disabling a security system or running from the police. This sometimes is a bad thing. In general, tries to be a charming gentleman. Sometimes is.
Bio: Born and raised in a less fortunate household, James was often out and about, getting into...a bit of trouble. He was never associated with gangs or drugs, but from the age of 16, he was making small time heists everywhere from the house down the street to the convenience store at the corner...but he never stole more than he needed. Always EXACTLY what was needed and nothing more, exactly what was needed to get by.
He met his friend Riley while leaving the police station one day, and from the day they became friends, they'd worked together on jobs. James was always the "muscle", the "go-to" guy, the one who got in and did the actual thefts. Riley was the computer guy, working the logistics, the security, everything, even the driving.
The duo has pulled off an extensive amount of heists in the past, and turned their sights of Fitzgerald Bank for a challenge. James knows they'll need a team to get anywhere, however.
Username: DemonDays2

Name: Riley Davids
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: Riley
Specialization: Computers
Allegiance: Thief
Weapons: Taurus PT92, Leatherman Multitool
Personality: Much more down to earth compared to James, Riley still likes to have fun as much as possible. However, he has some disdain for his partner-in-crime's reckless nature. He's much more of a gentleman than James, and can often be heard listening to some jazz, classical, or big band music, and he often wears a fedora that he has a habit of doffing.
Bio: Born in better conditions than James was, Riley was always interested with electronics and computers. By the time James was robbing convenience stores, Riley was hacking computers everywhere, from his school to the whole of city hall's network. He was at a police station one day when he met James, and the rest was history. They became almost like brothers: partners in crime, always watching each other's back.
That being said, Riley rarely leaves the safety of the team's Ford van, or somewhere with an internet connection. Riley's job always involves providing backup to James: guard locations, camera locations, new routes, everything is controlled from the huge computer in the back, and he's always in James' ear on a mission with a two-way radio. Sometimes, Riley will venture inside a mission alongside James.
The duo has pulled off an extensive amount of heists in the past, and turned their sights of Fitzgerald Bank for a challenge. Riley trusts in James to get them through this with the next 25 years of their life free.
Username: DemonDays2

Name: Nathaniel Landry
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: Nate
Specialization: Getaway Driver
Allegiance: Thief
Weapons: USP, switchblade
Personality: This guy is nothing but a fun-loving lunatic driver, who loves to be at his favorite place: behind the wheel. He's bouncy and likes watching anime, listening to upbeat (and sometimes romantic, if the mood strikes him) music, but he's also got a 'live for today like you might die tomorrow' attitude, which might get you killed if you're not careful. The only time his personality turns dark is when his daily dose of adrenaline runs out, in which case he needs to hurry up and get a new shot before he starts going into withdrawal.
Bio: Ever since Nate was little, his daddy always taught him to drive once his feet could reach the pedals. Unfortunately, his dad probably didn't expect that his son would soon start street racing. Winning races like no one's business, Nate was able to get enough money to go to a good college without a scholarship, and no one ever asked him any questions. Unfortunately, once he got a taste of the rush he got from driving, he just couldn't stop.

And since he couldn't very well drive during his studies, he took to stealing adrenaline from the nurse's office, developing an addiction in the hopes of sating his thirst for excitement. After he got out of college, he moved to Las Vegas, where he heard all the excitement was, using his impeccable driving skills and perfect aim with his pistol to eke out a living as a wheel man and street racer. He hoped that the shady jobs would help him to fight his addiction, but he's still struggling.

Username: Corialos

Name: Cassidy Raynes
Age: Just turned 21 but still appears 19
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt188/strangelilcookie/2313072153_5d786139491.jpg
Specialization: Explosives, pick pocket (just to stay alive between jobs)
Allegiance: Thief
Weapons: set of switchblades, a pendant made out of C-4 that hangs on charger wires and a matching ring that works as a remote detonator, and a bag filled with all sorts of girly goodies (hair spray and lighters, and makeup)
Personality: A truly intellegent woman, she works the cute and dizzy look like a pro. Her true love lies with blowing things up and knocking things down. A bit of a dork she tends to ramble when nervous, or when she gets embarassed. While she tends to dress scantaly she is a very modest person and easily embarassed when mentioning anything about the human body that wouldn't be a normal topic.
Bio: For as long as she could remember, Cassidy has been interested in nothing more then the distruction of anything standing, from smashing sand castles on the beach next to her Florida home, to watching the head cheerleader at ther high schools face as her most exspensive bottles of shampoo and conditionare exploded in the locker room after gym. Worried by her obvious incline toward crimanl behaviour her parents took her to all the best thearpists money could get, and soon they all said the same thing, "Lock her up before someone gets kill!"
So with the final judgement passed, her parents agreed, but not before Cassidy had caught wind of there big idea and high tailed it out of there! Leaving with nothing more then her trust over sized purse and a handful of cash taken from her savings she set off towards one place where she knew her talents and hobbies would be needed.....VEGAS!

Police

Name: Eric Lenda
Age: 35
Gender:Male
Appearance: http://s614.photobucket.com/albums/tt222/TommyFenwick/?action=view¤t=LendaBlackShirt.jpg
Specialization: Police Officer
Allegiance: Police
Weapons: Standard policeman's Sig P226. http://media.photobucket.com/image/sig p226/koltes/p226.png
Personality: Eric is generally a nice guy. He enjoys telling jokes and making small-talk. He can also be almost childishly competitive. However, he is quite capable of being serious when need be. He does take his job seriously, knowing that there is a lot at risk- more than just his job.
Bio: Eric was originally from Virginia. He moved to Vegas so that he could be with his girlfriend, but she dumped him shortly upon his arrival to the far side of the country. He decided to stay, though, despite all that he had left behind back in Virginia.
Username: Officer Jarhead

Name: Rachel Smith
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Appearance: Rachel, though she typically wears pants instead of dresses, darker khaki pants in the case of this picture.
Specialization: Police Officer
Allegiance: Police
Weapons: Beretta Cougar 8040, Kel-Tec P11 (Backup/Off-duty)
Personality: Fun loving and a bit careless, Rachel loves to joke around and tease male police officers every now and again. Despite this cheerful nature, she's very down to earth and intelligent, and when on a job, is much more serious, though her humour remains.
Bio: Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Rachel was always a bit of a tomboy, playing around mostly with the guys of her neighbourhood, playing cops and robbers. Little did she know that when she was older, she'd be on the side she rarely played as: the cops. She and her family moved to Las Vegas when she was 14, and she was always interested in working as an officer in this town that never slept. Her skills allowed her to rocket straight past the LVMPD, instead attracting the eye of the FBI. They recruited her, and from then on she's worked at catching thieves.
She's been assigned to James and Riley's case...although they don't know it, and neither does she. Nobody knows their names...she just happens to get a lot of their heists to work on.

"Remind me exactly WHY we're going to Vegas?" Riley asked, looking over at James. They were sitting inside their Ford Econoline, and had been on the road for days. They'd gone from Ohio to Nevada, but had to take a detour when Riley caught word of some intense searching at the border of Nebraska, forcing them to detour around that state. Eventually they reached Nevada.
"Because." James said, his feet on the dash. The inside of the van looked as if it belonged to a pair of college kids: trash in a few places, some cigarette butts in the ashtray (They both had a habit of having a smoke or two every now and again, but neither was addicted), and as a joke, James had brought some old shawls or rugs or something and tossed them over the seats, to give it a "Homey touch" as he'd put it.
"Because there is more security and police patrols here than anywhere else in the world. That means, it's the last place ANYONE would expect a pair of thieves to hang out." James explained further. Riley wanted to argue, but James' logic was sound. He sighed.
"I still don't like it. Why couldn't we have gone somewhere quieter? Like, I dunno, Tombstone, Arizona?" he asked. That got a laugh out of James, who said nothing.

They continued on in silence, well, relative silence. James had long since put in a Flogging Molly CD for them to listen to. "So, where do you think we should stay? Somewhere interesting, like Treasure Island, or maybe classy, like the Bellagio?" Riley asked, looking over at James. "Hmm. Let's do the Bellagio. I went on vacation there once, it was nice." he said. Riley shrugged. He stayed off the strip when he'd visited Las Vegas, then again, back then, he wasn't rolling around in other people's cash. Riley pulled onto Las Vegas Boulevard, South, and headed toward their destination.

Eric Lenda was sprawled out on the couch, asleep. Every once in a while, he would move, his body twitching or spasming in that deep-sleep way. His head turned, pressing his ear against the couch cushion and making it that the sound of the television became little more than a low buzz. His foot twitched. His hand reached up after a while, and rubbed his nose before quickly reassuming its position in front of his face. The TV was little more than white noise as he slept, the screen a fuzzy gray and the sound little more than a hiss. And then the alarm clock rang. Eric woke with a start, jumping off of the couch high enough that he hit his tousled head on the bookshelf just overhead.

"Ouch," he mumbled, crossly rubbing the top of his head with one hand and scratching his back with the other. He yawned, and smacked the alarm clock that was right next to the couch, effectively shutting it up. He'd fallen asleep on the couch again, watching the news after getting home from a long and boring night shift. It was a good thing that he now kept an alarm by the couch just for occasions like this. Well, at least he didn't have to go back on the job until this evening. He could spend the day in the a park, playing soccer, or he could go into town and meet new people. Either way, he needed to change out of his uniform- he'd fallen asleep in his blues. Eric sighed, and scratched his stubbly chin, giving one last good stretch before going off to get dressed. He turned on the stereo with the press of a button, and through the speakers began to played the Eagles "Life in the Fast Lane." He grinned. That was a good song, right there.

In a little while, James and Riley pulled up to the Bellagio, and into the parking lot. They had to take a quick pause to change in the back...separately of course. They changed out of their casual clothes into some more upper class clothes, which would fit their fake identities.
Riley and James stepped out a few minutes later, each in khakis, Riley in a white button up shirt and a fedora, and James in a dark blue polo. They gathered their stuff from the van, and headed up to the front doors of the Bellagio, each hauling a suitcase.
They walked up to the front desk. The concierge greeted them.
"Hello there." the concierge said. "Hi. We'd like to book a room." James said. The concierge looked at them strangely.

"He's my brother, we're here on a business trip." Riley said, annoyed but not letting it show. So many people thought he and James were "partners" that it was starting to wear on him. The concierge accepted and gave them keys to an upper floor room, and they headed out toward the elevators.
"Maybe I should start disguising myself as a woman, and people will stop thinking we're gay lovers." Riley grumbled, which made James laugh.

Eric got dressed as quick as he could, putting on his soccer jersey, shorts, and cleats to go play in the park. He soon realized that he had left a good bit of his soccer equipment at a friend's house. That friend just happened to be on a romantic weekend vacation at home with his fiancee. Eric didn't plan on bothering them. He was sure he didn't want to barge in on their... fun time. So he decided against going to the park to play soccer in favor of not having to go to his friend's house- which meant that he was going to wander around Vegas for a while. It seemed a lot less fun than playing soccer, but hey- you never knew if you were going to meet someone, or find something really cool. So after taking off his cleats and putting back on his regular shoes, Eric quickly downed a bowl of stale Cornflakes, and was out the door.

He decided that today would be a decent day for a walk, as the weather was warm and there was scarcely a cloud in the sky. He squinted for a moment in the bright sunlight, and then was off on his way down the street. He lived in the suburbs of Las Vegas, just far enough away so that he wasn't tempted to gamble all night long or anything of the sort. Because even though he was a policeman, supposed straight-backed enforcer of the law, he still took up in gambling some. Well, it wasn't illegal in Vegas, so why not? He walked lazily down the street, waving at most of the people he saw. They mostly waved back, several of them probably only waving because they knew he was a cop. He thought it was rather funny how everyone seemed to act around cops. It made him laugh.
