Appearance: 5'9, about 135lbs. Very slender, but a tiny bit shapely. She has curves in the right places, just not a lot of them. Long black hair curly hair that is almost always worn in braid with ribbons or strands of stones tied into it. Cafe au lait skin, with wide black eyes with thick eyelashes, and a Cupid's bow mouth. Her hands are small with long, slender fingers.

Social status (noble, peasant, middle class, etc): peasant, but makes excellent money from selling her gems and jewelry.
Sexual orientation:Straight
Personality: Mala is very friendly, and loves to talk and sing, as well as the haggling of the night market. She can be found humming to herself as she sorts gems and designs her pieces. If there is ever a party, or a reason to dance, she is there. In talking to her, the seriousness that she projects seems to be almost at odds with her fun-loving nature.
Short background/history: Her parents were jewelers; her father did metalwork and settings, her mother bought and sold gems. They met later in life, and had two sons before Mala. Her older brothers work as guards for the caravan. Many years ago, her father's family joined the caravan, and when he married her mother, her mother brought her expertise and connections along with her. The family's jewelry business has been passed to Mala, for her parents are older and cannot keep up with the rigors of the making of pieces, as well as the haggling with the customers. These days, they are found helping Mala by creating new designs for her to make, as well as sorting gems and approving her peices.

Due to the recent events, we need to assume Mala's brothers are no longer guards.
Zayd needs people he can trust. Her brothers either didn't know what was going on in their own family--which he would see as extremely irresponsible. Or they knew and hid it. Which is major failure to up hold the rules.
Either way, he would revoke their positions.
