Whenever you defeat a monster in the fields, you gain experience points.
If the monster is at the same level as you, you get 10 exp. points.
When defeating higher level monsters than you, it's +1 exp. points
for each level higher than your level. Example: If you are at level 2, and
you defeat a level 5 monster, you get 13 experience points. (10+3)
When defeating a monster that is at a level lower than you, it's -1 exp.
points for each level lower than your level. Example: If you are at
level 7, and you defeat a level 6 monster, you get 9 experience points.

Once you gain 100 experience points, your character goes up a level.
where do we defet monsets and such?
Guru's Quest
The first monsters that you face are in the Greenhaven Subforum. From
there (based on the map) you head down the path, and battle through the
monster clusters. Each cluster is represented by the virtualscape playing
piece. The Portals to the bottom of the map lead to the other 2 maps in
the subforums. (red portal leads to Magnarok, blue portal leads to Aquatus)
Once you drink from all three wellsprings, you head back to the Hut, and
battle through the monsters that respawn in the Greenhaven field you left.
Of course, before that, you have to gain the Guru's approval, go through
the puppet battles, and form a crew that will be strong enough to make it
through the fields.
