Gabriel and the bonsai (1)
There was a soft knock at the office door, so soft it was barely audible, and Gabriel looked up from his clearing of Li Wen's desk, blinking at the sound. It was daylight, and everyone knew that today, Damien would be away on business. So, who would it be? Putting down the files on the desk, Gabriel brushed himself off, and made his way across the huge office to open the door.
What greeted him, was a delivery man, looking rather nervous, and a small, potted bonsai in both of his hands, the man carrying it as though it was his life. Well, it was probably worth his life, in a way. The man had a rather meagre income, and he did not wish to blunder up on this, for Damien's love for the plants were known by large, and he had told him that a plant like this was worth half a year of his salary, and if he ever damaged it while transporting it to his office, he would pay dearly for it. Although he did not see what was special about the plant, he dared not risk it, and treated it carefully. Gabriel was often amused, thus, by men carefully carrying Li Wen's bonsais and creeping about the place slowly. Now, he was being a little unnerved by the platinum blonde man who had opened the door for him, and staring with open hostility at what he was carrying in his hands.
"Uhm, sir...?" he asked, before Gabriel finally reached over, smiling, not to take the documents from him, but to, very daintily, pluck off a leaf from the bonsai. The delivery man very nearly dropped the thing in shock. "Sir!! Damien has instructed for this...!!!" he spluttered when Gabriel shushed him up. "Its okay, its just a leaf. Would you kindly hold this leaf for me while i sign?" Gabriel said pleasantly, looking extremely satisfied, taking out a pen and retrieving the documents from the man, who held the leaf and the plant both carefully, extremely nervous now. A footstep sounded from behind him, then, and Gabriel looked up, happily.
"Oh, Li Wen's back!"
