The Legend of Oblivion

Long ago The nomadic tribes of the Sa'Kad ruled over all. Their great cities dominated the land and they created structures that none could rival. All of the other races had been enslaved by them and were at their mercy. For none had discovered the secrets of magic except the Sa'Kad overlords. Using the enslaved races and their dark magic they felt themselves superior to the gods. For their arrogance the gods sent to the land a great demon. Not born of hellfire or magic, no it was once a god that had taken part in shaping our world. It was sent down to shatter the Sa'Kad's mighty cities and free the other races. To this end the god created monstrous beings like it in order to destroy the Sa'Kad. Not even the eldest mages are certain of when it happened, but the god's purpose became corrupted over time spent in our land. It raised an army to not only destroy the Sa'Kad, but also all life. It took the word Oblivion as a name and led a mach across the land all the fell in the great shadow of Oblivion met with death. One by one the mighty cities of the Sa'Kad fell and eventualy there was but one that held the finnal hope of all the land. It was when Oblivion was at the gates that the Sa'Kad set the enslaved races free and toghether they prayed to the gods for protection. The gods had been watching Oblivion march across our land and knew that it could not be stopped by mortals, so when all the races prayed for protection the gods stepped down from the heavens to aid us. It was that day that all forgot their hatred of each other, all gods worked together and everyon desprately fought back Oblivion. The fighting lasted three days and many fell in battle but eventualy Oblivion was defeated. The gods chose to imprison Oblivion because they could not bring themselves to kill on of their own. Oblivion was imprisioned in an island fortress and bound with a magical lock so that it could not be set free.

The Remaining Races

The Original Four

The Sa'Kad are no longer the supreme race as they once where. Even though they helped save the world from Oblivion they have been cursed. This curse caused all Sa'Kad to eventually transform into nothing but sand. This curse was the down fall of their civilisation and now they have been reduced to nomadic tribes wandering the deserts.

The Elves where the first group to be set free and sacrificed more than any of the other races. For all the Elves lost the gods saw fit to grant them innate magical abilities that were originally gifted to the Sa'Kad. Using this magic the Elves created their own kingdom deep within the forests. That has resisted plague, famine, and invasion for centuries.

The Humans where the second group to be free of Sa'Kad control and fought with a tenacity that has never been matched. Even when things are at their worst humans hold onto hope. They were neither gifted nor pushed by the gods instead the Humans were left alone to create their own empire. The heart of a Human is filled with corruption and greed, several times have their empires fallen only to rise once again. The current Human empire is the largest kingdom in the land and has a monopoly over trade.

The Dwarves where the final race to be set free. They constructed great fortifications and siege weapons out of the stone that others had done only with the use of magic. So fascinated were the god with the Dwarves abilities that they relocated the Dwarves to the mountains filled with stone and metals to practice their crafts. The Dwarven kingdom established by Drav, who latter became a mortal god, has never once been conquered until recently.

The Cursed Ones

The Lizard Men are believed to have once been Sa'Kad who were punished by the gods. Although if you ask a Sa'Kad about it you will receive rather nasty tongue lashing. The Lizard Men live amongst the swamps in ruins that are identical to Sa'Kad ruins found in the desert. The Lizard Men do not advanced technologically and posses only shamanistic magics. There is an old tale that speaks of Sa'Kad who decided to join the army of Oblivion and fought against the gods. For this they were cursed to become scaled monsters.

The Dark Elves were once Elves who used their gift of magic to tap into a darker power, the same kind of power used by the armies of Oblivion. The cost of this power was their land began to rot their souls became corrupt and soon they were beings of evil intent. For their crimes the gods cast them out of the light. Never again will the sun rise over their now dead forests and never again shall they be in the favor of the gods.

The Shadow of Oblivion

The races squander their freedom. Now all they do is fight amongst them selves. The Human empires have united under one banner to lead a campain against the Elves at any day now. Even united under one banner the Humans still squable amongst them selves. The Elves have gone into isolation completely ignorate of the world around them so full of huberious. The only one to see the folly of their ways is their puppet ruler who is powerless to stop it. The Dwarven kingdom has been invaded by the Dark Elves and for the first time the Dwarves must lead an assult on their homeland to take it back. The Lizard Men have gone on the war path and are conqouring everything in their path with out pause. The Sa'Kad are capable of restoring peace and order to the lands, but the young ones refuse to help instead they only highten the problems. It seems that a mysterious group has been striking within the human lands attacking small villages leaving no survivors. All of the bodies that are found are marked with a strange symble. Finnaly the gods have turned their backs on us and we are left alone. It seems that once more the shadow of Oblivion falls on us and we are to blame.

Laws of the Land
AKA The Rules

Now I'm a pretty laid back uncaring guy, but break any rule in red and you're out.

Romance: It's fine I've got no problem with it just remember the mantra. Do not let it go to far. If it does just time skip.

Language: Cussing is expected I've got a bad mouth my self just limit the F-bombs and we wont have any problems.

Violence: Again expected just don't go over board. Remember this isn't Mortal Kombat. We don't need to know every little detail. Also don't kill another character unless A. NPC, or B. you both agree to it. I went with out that rule once and I'm not making that mistake again. Also don't auto hit other people, NPCs are fine but it just annoys people

Posting: Gimme at least a paragraph and I wont give you any complaints. If you can do better great. Also do not post until I give the okay. It's a sure fire way to annoy the crap outta me and get you black listed. Before I forget use [[]] these things for OOC, Italics for thoughts, and never use this **.

Character profiles: PM them to me. If you post them you will automatically be denied. Put the race of you character as the subject so I know you read all of this. In case you can't figure it out when I get to the Character skeletons the races are: Elves, Dwarfs, Men, Dark Elves, Lizard Men, and Sa'kad. If I don't get back to you right away don't panic you haven't be denied.

Other: You may have seen the pattern or you may not have but I've picked a specific color to go with each race. If you are interested in a specific race just look for that color. Since I far to lazy to repeat what the colors at just look at the remaining races section.

Generic rules: Don't Godmod, be god, spam, argue with other people, or just be a jackass in general.

Character Skeletons

Before I even start let me just say that if you have any questions please ask.
A quick note about the Sa'Kad. Sa'Kad lost their innate magical abilities but with their curse gained a new one. They can bend sand to their will. They can create weapons, buildings, sink holes, sandstorms, you get the idea. If you're still confused think Avatar: The Last Air Bender and just channel earth and water bending combined. To get a rough idea.

But every one else calls me: (Character Name.)
In case you can't tell I am: (Gender.)
I am: (Race. I will allow half breeds, but only for Humans and Elves/Dark Elves. Since those are the only races that will...procreate.)
I have lived to be: (Age remember the Elves and the Sa'Kad can live nearly forever.)
They said: (Personality.)
My life story: (Bio.)
In combat I use: (Weapons or magic not both. I may be willing to make an exception to this if you give me a good reason.)
This is me: (Appearance.)
Almost forgot: (What ever else you want, stick it here.)

Those Who Fall Under The Shadow of Oblivion
AKA Accepted people

My parents call me: Squvil
But every one else calls me: Ian Ross
In case you can't tell I am: A guy
I am: Half-elf half-human
I have lived to be: 26
They said: I am blunt, and uncaring. They almost had me pegged to, but they forgot that I do care. I care about money along with me and mine. Now what mine is is up to debate it could by my belongings or friends either way I care. Unfortunately I have been cursed with a soft spot for women and children something that bothers me deeply.
My life story: I spent half of my life in the Elven Forests and the other half in a Human city. I was an out cast in both lands, neither the Elves or the Humans could over look the fact that I was a half breed. They viewed me as an abomination and treated me as such. So I had few friends, most became enemies when they found out about my heritage. Because I had few friends I devoted my spare time to learning how to use blade and bow. Eventually when I set out on my own I had some skill in combat but nothing else. So I decided to do what I do best and turn mercenary. It's been rough since the only jobs that have come around are the ones no one wants, but It sure beats farming.
In combat I use: A scimitar, a long bow, and a dagger
This is me: Keep your oppinions to your self
My ties to the company: I created the mercenary company so I am the boss
Almost forgot: I really really do not like Dark Elves. They just can't be trusted.

The sky was dark and held the dark promise of a thunder storm as Ian walked into a small village. He held a hooded cloak over his frame tightly in anticipation of the rain. The few villagers that decided to remain outside just to see if rain would actually fall gave him looks of mistrust. Understandable really considering that the village was remote and not on the main trade roads so rarely did any one visit. It didn't help that Ian's scimitar bulged under his cloak and his bow slung over his arm. It was rather clear that strangers were rare, but armed strangers were unwelcome in the village. He didn't care about these simple peasants who were most likely under the oppressive thumb of the local lord. Score one for the oppressive feudalistic society that held the remote regions. Ian had come to this tiny village so far out of the way in search of a rouge Dark Elf who had turned traitor to it's own kingdom and flead to this remote village. Normally even he would pass up on a job offered by the Dark Elves. However in this case he was persuaded by the large amount of money that would be rewarded upon completion of the task. If I do this I wont have to work for three months. Sure greed wasn't the most noble character trait, but the thought of money kept Ian warm on cold nights so he didn't care. In fact the thought of the money gave him a warm and fuzzy feeling as he walked though the village getting all sorts of hostile stares. He shuffled into the local inn that was named Dragons Dive. The reception inside was much the same as the outside, except a conversation that had been in process had been halted as soon as he walked through the door. I'm only here till the rain passes. Ian told him self as he ignored more hostile stares and made his way to a table hidden in a corner.
