I'm trying to make a seamless checkered wristband for a gaian friend, and I attempted a flat panel one, and I ended up having to sew the checkers together down the middle..

Is there a trick to changing colors when knitting? Especially for knitting a checkered pattern?

Every few stitches (no more than an inches worth of stitches at a time) twist the two yarns together and keep knitting. That's referred to as stranded colorwork. You can also weave it, but that's more difficult as you twist the yarn together as you go along (the traditional way of doing it is at least difficult). My suggestion is to try stranded colorwork first as it's easier to do.

Thank you!! Thank you!! Do you have any links to videos about it? It's easier for me to learn from seeing.

I couldn't find a video for the first one, but I did for the second: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B33SUeSwubE The hardest part for this technique (that I've noticed, anyways) is remembering which way to wrap the secondary color but otherwise it (hopefully) shouldn't be too hard.
