This came back awhile ago in the sexuality thread with Te Con Pastel. At the time I felt she jumped on me but I do think it's a subject worth bringing up in Debate Club. Do you think asexuality is real? Why or why not? Do you think it's just people suppressing feelings, or a legitimate sexuality? For those of you who don't know what it is, click here: http://www.asexuality.org

I believe it's possible. Everyone has their own levels attractions. To some, there's not really any attraction.
I think it can also go another way too. I never really had any serious attraction until after my first boyfriend.
I guess I'm trying to say that there's asexuals and then those who have yet to be acquainted with attraction/

In my experience, late bloomers still have crushes or some level of interest in sex. It's more of just a "meh" thing than "I definitely don't want this".

Oh, no. I know there's Asexuals. I've known a few.
I was just thinking out loud that some of the younger 'asexuals' might not be fully asexual. They think they are, but are not. While others are....
I'm being confusing again, aren't I?

I dont like wen teens (13-17) label themselves gay, trans, aseuxal..Even if they are more mentally mature. Because we cant run from puberty and changing hormones. I had 3 friends who were always very hardcore lesbians, and now they're all dating men. Our high school prom queen loved men, and is now a lesbian. I dont think asexuality doesnt exist, i just think the younger teens need to know it MAY very well be a phase and their true "sexuality" has not been revealed.

That's true, and I fully acknowledge that myself. But just because people may "Change" doesn't make their feelings any less valid now. They might genuinely feel they're trans/gay/asexual/blah, and I think it's good for someone to explore. I don't have a problem with people identifying as one thing and then switching later, because I mean... When's the cut off point? When can you really "know"? There are some people who don't figure out their sexuality until they're into their thirties. I think it's a case-by-case type thing.

Everyone has the right to express their sexuality (or in this case asexuality) however they see fit. but that's just my personal opinion. i have no problem with Asexuals in anyway. i even have a few friends that are asexual, so it just doesn't bother me as much as it does others.

I think asexuals exist because i am one (and i think i exist haha) Sockers just because people may "Change" doesn't make their feelings any less valid now. quote] I agree with that, i have a firend who was fairly sure they were asexual but they just hadn't experienced that type of attraction before, and since have. It's a bit like if an atheist converted to whatever, it doesn't change the fact that they were an atheist.
