Got an entry? Talk about it or post a link to it here. This is the thead to discuss anything related to housing style and design, and competition in the arena.

I haven't entered-but I plan too...someday...the only problem is that from what I've seen, it's all about flashing wealth. I tend to be very-simple(matching) or normal in some cases-but that doesn't seem to impress many people. They want to see rooms that cost an arm and an leg to be any good...maybe I'm just cheap question ...

Has anyone else noticed that? Maybe it was just the week I checked it out-but it annoys me... blaugh so here I go complaining to you guys!

Bye!!!

I entered before using my little 'Lover's Teahouse'. I'm gonna enter next week. Yoshiko's planning on seeing a lot of 0s in her bank account next week!

It's not the fault of the voters that Housing takes more funds to score high. It seems to me to be a lot easier to make a really good-looking Avatar with simple stuff than it does a Home. Avatars have a lot less space you need to compose an image on, for one, and Avatars also have a much greater variety of items. In time I imagine that Housing will have enough items that you can pull off more unique and attractive compositions for less.

I think that the Housing Arena is based a little, not as much as I did before, off of wealth. Some houses that do look really nice tend to be dissed for not 'enough' items. I've seen some houses, set out with a different plan--not the Japanese styled houses, I'm getting so sick of those, way too many--that get knocked down, I read comments on most houses, because they "need" more.

That bothers me, it's not how nice/well done it looks, but what items you put in it. Another example, some people voted houses down because they didn't have an extension, or bigger house, yet with the amount of items they had, it was unnecessary. Maybe I pick bad weeks, but the whole thing 'ruffles my feathers'--I like that statement for some reason--

You do have a point though Aveto, more furniture, like a kitchen set or art set, would be nice. But houses can use avatar items too, it's more about how creative you can get with what you have. I'm just sick of Japanese styled housing being entered, I think it reigns about 60% of the arena.

My favorite style of house so far is making a house something other than a bedroom...like the dojo or the greenhouse I saw before...

I agree with Myles on this one, housing items are quite expensive, and there isn't as much variety. But I have seen some people do incredible things with their houses. (Fauntine, especially!)
