Origins: Lower Estonia, of Finnish Descent APPEARANCEEljas is a traditionally handsome man with piercing blue-green eyes, true to an angry sea. Despite his tendency toward stress, he maintains a full head of dark brown hair, slicked back into a neat pompadour-esque do. A soft, sloping nose and subtle mouth only add to his allure, though he's no Adonis. His style is typical for a man so familiar with professionalism - dark belted coats, light reactant spectacles and black patent shoes with a water-proof shine. He's average height, standing a comfortable 5'11" and far from unhealthy. One could attribute his success to a strong jaw - his ability to keep it shut has made him quite a fortune!PERSONALITYKey Words: Confident in front of the Camera, Morally Conflicted, Generally "Good", Enjoys Learning/Experiencing, Manages Personal Life Poorly. Control is key for a Televised Investigative Reporter - he must keep the viewer's attention at all times, regardless of the subject matter. He should never slip, stutter or lose his cool, and he should be careful about what he shares and with whom. While Eljas may seem like a perfect fit for the job, he has those pesky morals.
On one hand, he's the eyes and ears of the underdogs, bringing them news on the world around them and fighting for their right to information. On the other hand, he may only report what the MOTHERLAND wants the people to know. Despite his guilty conscience, Eljas is true to his profession. He's been groomed into a compelling story teller and a convincing liar. A sharp wit and clever tongue make him quite personable, and nary an acquaintance has bid him farewell feeling disappointed. How silly life seems to Eljas - a cowardly marionette, playing the part of the people's superhero.
Despite his positive standing in the public eye, private life is far less glamorous. He's got the cozy house and the gorgeous wife, but his relationship with her has grown strained over the years. Fearful Norja might leave him (and disclose his unusual hobby to the public), Eljas goes above and beyond modest comforts to keep her content. Similar to his means of dealing with a morally conflicting career, he'd rather continue masking his problems than risk losing anything.
Eljas is very passionate about the aspects of his career and devotes most of his time off camera to solving "mysteries". Unfortunately, this hunger has made him a bit frantic - while he's nothing but professional on air, behind closed doors he's prone to bouts of obsession, frustration and insomnia. Assembling the big picture is a beneficial hobby, it's the details that drive him mad.
One of Eljas' most alarming traits is how terribly self-serving he can be... if he can justify himself as the "good guy" in any situation, then no behavior is off limits. HISTORY Eljas was born to Simone and Ellory Isle of Estonia, a young and fairly inattentive couple whose only mutual interest seemed to be the boy. It wasn't much of a surprise to anyone in the little town of Tapa that the two didn't really get along - their marriage was arranged, Ellory being the son of a Chemist and Simone the daughter of a Distiller. Their union ensured shared wealth between the two families and brought Lääne-Virumaa some of the finest Vodka since post-prohibition.
Simone had just turned 16 when Eljas arrived, and Ellory was only becoming a man at 19. Even with shared wealth, Eljas knew from infancy that his family was poor - "mere barnacles at the bottom of a ship" according to his neighbors. With Father taking over the family business as a Starch Engineer, a near archaic profession, and Mother selling their bottled Spirits from the basement, the family made very little. The Isles struggled and fought and were rather uninvolved in the raising of their child, save for the occasional slaps from Ellory or moans from Simone. Fortunately for the boy, he had a very loving Grandmother.
Mummo Larali was like a second mother to Eljas. She taught him everything a child should know, and he was more than eager to learn, so long as it made Mummo happy. To this day Eljas' fondest memory is tracing his name upon a digital pad with Grandmother as his teacher. She always rewarded his work with the grandest of smiles. He grew to crave that adoration, something elusive he failed to find in his parents. This longing for attention led to mischief, and Eljas favorite question soon became, "What should happen if I do...this?" Like most boys he loved exploring, but where most children lose interest in such pursuits, Eljas never seemed to grow out of it. He longed for a glimpse of the world outside their silly town lost to time.
Simone may have been livid When Ellory brought home the family's first Television, but it was an answer to Eljas' prayers. Bathed by the holographic glow for hours at a time, Eljas watched wide eyed as men in inky suits fought through tangled landscapes and exposed the secrets of not only the war but the MOTHERLAND itself. With war came stories of underground rebellion, investigative reporting and human interest. The men and women who fought for the people's right to information were revered by the lower-class town. Not only were they prized by the people, but they seemed to know everything. "See that man there, Mummo?" He asked one day, prodding the touch-reactive screen with his small finger. "That's gonna be me one day. I'll know everything, and I'll tell everyone about it, and I'll have so much money I'll buy you a new dress." Mummo smiled.
As war raged on, more men were drafted. Ellory was ordered to serve a minimum of two years abroad, and left his wife and elderly mother to their own. Ellory was never a smart man, nor was he particularly good, but when he left one humid summer morning with fear in his eyes Eljas couldn't help but feel guilty. "Be strong for Mama." Whispered Ellory to a whimpering Eljas - and the boy did his best to listen. He knew even then that his Father wouldn't come home. He painted on a smile for his frightened Father, and one for his lonely Mother. It wasn't long before Mummo's worry made her ill, so Eljas smiled for her, too.
Then it was only Eljas and Simone, money all spent and no one left to make their living, but Simone was young and pretty and often busied herself at local bars. She caught the eye of a tall man in an inky suit. He wanted a young wife, and Simone needed the money - she also needed the boy out of the way. Eljas saw the perfect opportunity to climb onto that screen. With eager persuasion from Eljas, Simone would only accept the staunch German man's ring if he got the boy a job...
Pre-War, Made His Riches... His exploits were funded by Mother's eager new husband, who himself was a well-known Reporter for NOW News. His connections made Eljas a Junior Reporter, and his own innate talents made Eljas a Program Headliner - the salary, quite obviously, was impressive.
Post-War, Keeps His Riches... An Investigative Reporter has many hidden talents: observation, memory, even slight of hand are important for a man in such a business. Little did Eljas know, these practiced talents - and a little help from a Microbead Camera - would soon be the key to maintaining his fortune. Eljas' hobby began with a local figure and modest Food Processor whose golden cuff links caught his attention. While post-war salaries weren't impressive, the Flash-Frozen Food Industry wasn't as well off as Broadcasting Media...and Eljas certainly didn't own any golden cuff links.
He befriended the mysterious Mr. Declan Roge, eager to figure out his secrets of success. When their conversation proved fruitless, Eljas sunk to less traditional methods. All it took was a single snap-shot of the portly gentleman with a loose woman on either arm. Regardless of the situation, it would appear Mr. R was selling more than just Frozen Foods. Digital Mail containing the image, blown up drastically to focus on those lovely golden cuff links, landed a small fortune in Eljas' lap. Eljas was conflicted at first, but Mr. R was a bad man - Mr. R didn't deserve a smile.
So, what's he doing in Saltaire?
NOW transported Eljas to Saltaire to gather surface level information about the Prince Project first-hand.
And why does Eljas desire a Prince?
He desires a Prince, not only for the sake of his report, but for the intimate study of something so utterly extraordinary. Rather than interviewing current owners and project leaders, Eljas will pursue ownership with aims to make the growth and development of his Prince an ongoing piece on his program. Not to mention the idea of owning something so rare - after all, he's only human.

CURIOUS INVENTIONS Resistive Holographic Screen, R.H.S. or Holoscreen -
When a holographic image is projected upon an RHS, the image is able to interact with the Screen as if a real person is interacting with it. In laymen terms, it's a large touch screen, only effected by holograms. It's sole purpose began as a way for holograms in business meetings to interact with charts and displays, but the technology quickly spread to Media Outlets. Media Immersion Device, M.I.D. or Midie -
A compact, modified hearing aid, no larger than a pea. It is made of a pliable foam-like material wrapped around small transmitting circuits, and conforms to fit the wearer's ear. Capable of tuning to three separate frequencies, the MID offers multiple uses. The MID can be programmed into any language, including non-allied nations.
• Script recites a stream of dialogue, similar to the 20th Centuries' teleprompter.
• Tune relays Radio Frequencies and works much like a common radio, but this single Frequency only offers one Channel - the NOW News Network.
• Translate captures sound and translates it into a pre-programmed language - it has the unique capability to isolate sound based on the wearer's preference.
Photochromic Lenses -
These thin-framed spectacles, like the 'Transitions' hundreds of years prior, have lenses made from UV-Reactant Nanomachines. These tiny automated particles are dormant upon the polycarbonate lens and darken when UV light hits them, blocking glare. These Nanomachines are also capable of changing color to suit one's mood, environment or wardrobe. They come in two models - Mono and Solo.
• Mono Affixed to the wearer by traditional frames and a bridge guard.
• Solo Utilize levitation to float just beyond the eyes of the wearer.
Eljas wears the Solo model.

Mono Bead Camera, Mono-Cam -
A Mono Bead Camera, much like it sounds, is a tiny camera capable of being fixed onto any object. Eljas' camera is implanted directly on the middle piece of his spectacles and constantly records. The data recorded is digitally transferred to an external hard drive where images can be enhanced, cropped and enlarged.

______is VERY in depth to the point where I can see the man standing in front of
______my eyes. The only thing I am confused on is where exactly he gets his
______month.
______I understand he is a Reporter in the new century and that his job does
______him well, well as well as it can get, but how exactly does he earn his
______riches now?
______Does he spy on people? Does he expose individuals?
______That's the only real point I have to make on your character over all.
