XXXThe kingdom was beautiful, full of the world's natural forests plants and animals. The homes were up in the trees, it was the rain-forest that the people lived in. The large tree in the center of this area of the forest was the king's palace. It was essentially the live giving tree of the forest. They withheld against many great attacks on the forest, including burnings, and the saws. These elf people were excellent archers, and took out many who apposed them. Little did the people know there was a group of their own, stirring against them, wanting this great power, wanting to control the rain forest themselves. These were the people of the forest, who wanted the forest to take over, to push out the peoples of the desert and grasses, and even the peoples of the water. However, the king they had was too mild-mannered and caring so they believed, and that was why they wished to over throw this great king.

XXXIsac sat at the thrown-room door and shot his arrows at a target that sat in one of the two closer corners. There was suppose to be a meeting today between some of the villagers and the king. and he had decided to practice his aim just to make sure he was good and ready for the people to come. He was after all the king's protection, and he would do anything for him. the king was laughing gently as he watched the young boy practice. Entertained by the boys persistent training.

Hau giggled as the target got hit. She was a smart girl, and even even though she was very young, she had been given the task of taking notes for the king. It probably wasn't his choice to give the girl this rank, but she was a half breed and by giving her a good statue, he insured peace between the people of the trees and the people of the water. Plus, Hau was a good girl, a little over confident, but she was learning. Or, so they thought.

It gave Isac more confidence as she giggled, he smiled over at her. He was always trying to impress her, hoping that one day they'd get the chance to be alone and talk. He thought that if he could just make a good enough impression on her that they could perhaps go out. He was originally from the people of the desert, but he displayed elf traits, and his parents had brought him to the trees believing they could raise their son better, so he grew up under the king, and became one of them, not knowing of his parents, or his real birth. "What do you think i should do next?" he asked confidently, "One hand upside down using my foot?"

Hau had never noticed that he was flirting with her. She was not one to care for love. In fact, she thought that love was useless, just like compassion. The girl was always trying to convince the king to be harsher. "What would the king care for?" Hau said in a voice that was far too sweet. Pulling out her knife, she tossed it at the target hitting the center. She never cared for archery, but knife throwing was wonder for.

He fell over looking at her with a sigh. The king laughed, "Hau." the king called her over, he was smiling gently.

Isac picked himself up and took the knife and the arrows out of the target. she had split one of them as she hit the center of the target, and he had to get all the pieces. He laid the knife down on her lap before she could move to talk to the king and went back over to his chair and sat, no longer amused by the target before him.

Hau blinked her eyes innocently for a second before running over to the king. as she got up, she grabbed her knife and accidentally ramming her shoulder into the archer. Most of the time she didn't notice the other people around, seeing as she was very self absorbed, that and she needed glasses badly. "Yes, your majesty?" the halfling said, happily. She did speak openly to the king most of the time, but she knew better to in public. People might think she was one of the traitors.

"Isac was asking you," said the king in a hushed tone, "He's had his eye on you and wants to impress... that's why he's been showing off more and more." he smiled at her, he knew she probably wouldn't take to the boy, but there was an effort there to try to make things at least somewhat good between the two. Both of the "children" were important to him

"My lord should know, should know, Hau gave a oath to be a warrior of Artemis, the goddess of hunting. So, so no love for Hau!~" the girl's voice was so sweet it could give you cavities, but that didn't mean she was trying to be nice. She was really trying to rub salt in the wounds. "Besides, why would that impress Hau?" When a simple shield spell could have stopped that? though the girl, but she wasn't able to say it. She was pretending to be half-mermaid, the people of the water, instead of half-witch, the people of the ice.

He laughed gently, "I was just suggesting you amuse him." He found it a little funny that Isac was going to fail as he tried so hard. He did feel a bit sorry for the boy though, but young love was always so much fun to watch, even if it didn't work out.

Isac leaned against the door watching the two, he didn't know what he could possibly do now. He didn't feel like doing much of anything, but decided to try one more arrow. Without knowing what he was saying he mutters a holy spell under his breath as he lets the arrow fly. It wisks through the air surrounded by a holy light.

As Hau's older sister always said, her competitive nature was going to be the death of her. With out giving thought to the kings or the archer, her whole body tensed up whens she sensed the magic being used. In that instant, she drew her other knife and threw the target the arrow was directed at. As if flew, she let out a soft mumble of a spell in the ancient witch tongue. "Goddess of creation, lend me thine might. Goddess of the end, protect my blade while in flight." The knife glowed a silver light, and left a blackish trail. It was packed with just enough energy to clash with the other weapon and knock them both down. It was based on an old witch game, which they called 'turinc', which humans turned into a game called 'bump'. As soon as the little halfling knew what she had done, she hoped they would think it was 'mermaid magic'.

Isac was a little too busy trying to figure out how the arrow had been glowing, it had yet to occure to him that the knife that hit it out of the way was also glowing. He slowly walked over to the arrow and knife trying to figure out was going on. He was a little afraid to touch them.

The king was watching interested, unsure of what had just happened. He looked between the two, "So... you both know a bit of magic... I'm assuming your parents taught you that Hau, but Isac where did you learn that?" he asked in a gentle tone.

Isac didn't respond, he, himself, wanted to know where he learned such a thing.

"Yes, the me-merpeople have lots of hidden magic and spells. Heheheh!" Hau said with a nervous laugh, walking over and picking up her knife. She had almost blew her cover, and it had taken years to get her this position. She even had to drink aging potions to look a reasonable age. besides, she had enough secrets to keep, like her plans for later today. Once she got her composure back she noticed the archer was ignoring the kings, and she was 'one of his most loyal followers'. "Hey, archer! The king is talking to you!"

"I don't know king... I don't know what that was or how I did it..." he said, not really talking much.

"Hmm..." Hau said for moment before going over and picking up the arrow. It hurt a little, for a large part of the girl's soul could be considered 'evil' Looking over to the kind she spoke, "It feels like magic called on by some sort of God... It seems to expect perfection from everyone who touches it."

"A god... what do you mean?" Both males ask at at the same time. Isac takes the arrow from her gently looking it over, a feeling went through his body and he dropped the arrow. Staring at it for a moment, he picked it up, it just felt right. He looked at Hau "I don't don't understand..." he whispered.
