Several hundred kilometres from Shadowsun -- and in turn, the portal into UnderGaia through Au Shinduago -- is a structure known to the locals only as the Henge. Whoever crafted this eerie structure has long been lost, but it has been passed through the hands of countless cults and religions since, known to some as holy ground, but to most as irrevocably tainted.
A ditch of about twenty metres in diametre (about sixty-five feet) of dead ground, with raised banks encircling it, ringed by poles of smooth, dull grey stone. The beaten earth within the Henge has been dyed black by blood spilled by countless sacrifices, though the stone structures surrounding it remain clean and untouched. Though they have been marked many times by sigils finger-painted with blood, they always end up bare and clean once more.
Currently, a dark cult known only as the Clergy, worshipping magic itself as a god, has taken up rule of the Henge. They believe that their god was torn apart at the beginning of time, and that magic is the taint of his blood left. Magic-users have a part of their god in them, and so they are often abducted, or killed when this is impossible.
A little known truth of the Henge is that it is the only remaining henge left as part of a triangular complex. The northern henge has become overgrown with woodland, known to locals as the Engahbidhe. These woods are cursed, and are best avoided. The south-western henge was at some point turned into a burial ground, and is now a sprawling graveyard; makeshift wooden crosses mark many, many bodies, but within the spiral of graves has been constructed a crypt that delves deep underground. It has been theorised that the labyrinthine structure could very well meet up with UnderGaia at some point.
