Alex couldn't believe the news he had just received in his meeting with the council. A promotion? It must be a big mission if he is going to be promoted before being assigned to it. They didn't say how big of a promotion but it had to be big if they were going to hold a ceremony for it later. What could the mission be?

He mind was so full of thoughts that he wasn't paying attention when he rounded the corner and bumped into someone. He wobbled a bit but didn't fall over. He straightened his jacket before looking to see who he bumped into.

"Ah, a cadet from the academy I take it? Well let me think. Testing schedule. Testing schedule." He put a hand to his mouth and looked down in thought. "Well, that would probably be on the announcements billboard in the middle of the recreation area." He looked up at her. "I was headed there just now. You could just follow me if you wish."

"Alex. A pleasure to meet you." He started down the hallway. "First time huh? That is always fun. I know I was extremely nervous when I took it my first time." He paused for a moment. He had better watch his words. He was one of the very few who ever passed the test their first time. Saying that, would give people the idea of who he was and he hated when cadets came here just to meet him. So he was going to have to lie to this one. "Some advice, stay calm. Very few pass the first time. So don't let it bother you. If you fail, just come back next time. That's how I handled it and before long, you pass."

Even though he had to fight to keep his face from going red, he acted like he didn't here the cute part. "Yeah, the test is definitely different the what you expect." He opened up one side of a double door, revealing the beautiful scene of the recreation area. It probably was one of the most beautiful landscape in the federation. At least in Alex's opinion. It had a few water fountains, a small stream flowing off of a massive waterfall in the middle. One half was on top of the cliff that divided the area in half with stairs going up both sides of the waterfall. It was definitely a sight to behold. Here it is. Our recreation area.

Yeah, its pretty amazing the things you can do with a few runes here and there." He began to walk toward the stairs along the waterfall. "The sign is at the top half. Hope you don't mind stairs.

He was really starting to feel a bit uncomfortable around her. He wasn't sure how to react. He wanted to just be himself and just return to his room, but he had to act like a Runist. As they reached the top of the stairs, Alex pointed toward the billboard in front of them. "There it is."

The billboard was covered in notices for all kinda of things. But the two in the middle of them all stood out the most. One was the testing schedule, the other was a recent announcement. 'Ceremony of Promotion today. Captain Sunders. Begins around Sundown Rec. Time.' Being in space, there really wasn't a day or night so thing ran off of the time simulated in the Rec area. The ceiling simulated day and night. Even weather at times.

"I... Well... um..." And just like that, he failed at hiding again. Then he thought of something. "Wait, Melody Burton. I know that name. You were that girl came home with mom a couple times."

He looked over to the waterfall. "Yeah, she was a great runist. But no matter how great we become, we still die." He rubbed the back of his left hand with right for a moment then looked back to Melody. It's good to see you're doing good. Mom often mention that she knew a few people with great potential at the academy. Maybe the test won't be that hard for you after all."
