She was confused by the change of voices, and the different names, but thought the change of eye color was pretty Hi, I'm Melody Burton. Why do you have two names Ray?

Oh, I have a symbiont that is part of me.
Ray gets a puzzled look from Melody and scratches his head trying to explain it better.
Well it means there is me, Ray, and me, Xydeen, but it's not like being separate people in one body its like being two people fused together. I know what he knows and he knows what I know. What's more is that if you were to take Xy out of me I would die and he would die. So its kind of complicated.
Oh and it's a pleasure to meet you Melody.

Leila giggled a bit at Melody's confused expression. You get used to it. Just assume you're talking to two people and you're good.
So... she continued, tilting her head quizzically at the newcomer. ...what brings you here? Runist HQ isn't exactly a popular tourist destination.

As the group talked with each other, Alex slowly made his way past them and to the closet door next to his bed. After entering a code on the screen that was on the door, it opened up and Alex pulled out what looked like a uniform. He sighed as he looked down at it. He really didn't want to do this ceremony. He had asked them why there was to be one but all they told him was it was necessary. The door slid shut and he made his way toward the bathroom.

Melody kept an eye on Alex, she didn't want him slipping out on her. She thought she got what Ray was talking about, and she decided to take Leila's advice. Pretend she was talking to two people. Got it. She smiled at the woman. Oh, I came to see when the entrance exam is. I haven't taken it yet, I'm still at the academy. I wanted to take it earlier, but I kind of slacked off so... She shrugs her shoulders a little as if to say 'you know.' She pauses a moment, So how many times did you guys have to take the test?

Ray glances to both Alex and Leila at Melody's question then answers.
Well, it isn't so much an exam as it is an evaluation of the usefulness of your abilities to the whole. I had to take it twice because they didn't believe my Rune was useful for combat and war. Most people don't get to pass on the first try because of various reasons, but if you haven't taken the exam then we aren't allowed to tell you anything else about it except that it tests your runic abilities. If we were to tell you any more it would be considered cheating and you would fail automatically, and be banned from the exam for a year.
Ray looks at Melody smiles.
Just be sure you do exactly what the examiners tell you. Then you will be fine. Your rune is pretty good though I shouldn't worry too much.

I didn't pass until my fourth try. Leila replied, blushing. But I learned something every time! I'm sure you'll do fine, and even if you don't, if you keep at it you'll make it eventually.

She looks at Ray a little shocked. How do you know what my rune is? Her mark lay hidden under her shirt so there was no way he recognized it and she hadn't met him before...
She looked at Leila and smiled, she held up a fist Oh I'll make it. No doubt about that. Her smile fades and she lowers her arm. When is what I'm worried about.

Huh? Oh, I'm sorry, it's just some trick my rune lets me do. I can see other runes even if they aren't active. I've been able to do it for so long sometimes I forget that most other people can't.
Ray fixes his glasses and looks at Melody and smiles then points to his forehead where a rune appears in mid air floating in front of it glowing white.
My rune is the Knowledge rune. It's very useful, but explaining it would take too long. So i'll just leave it at that.

Ray thinks for a minute before he replies.
He and I were both selected to go on a mission together a while back, and we became friends. I can't even remember how many missions we have gone on together since then, but it really doesn't matter I don't think we could ever not be friends now that we are.
Ray dismisses his rune after he forgot it was still there and continues.
Funny thing was that we were both sent on that mission not knowing we were both on the same mission. We met on the ship that was to take us to our missions destination and somehow got around to talking about our missions and found out we were on the same one and decided to help each other out. It turns out they forgot to tell us that we were supposed to work together, but the mission briefing report had a page missing. Well to make a long story short the mission went perfectly, which is rare, and we both were commended after the mission. Big to-do over a simple mission that either one of us could do alone now, but not back then.

Meldoy nodded at Ray. His story, though a bit conveluded, was funny. And she said as much Though we wont have as intersting a story to tell, I hope we'll be come friends.

He thinks for a minute.
I guess I did go a little overboard on the explanation, oh well, I hope we can become friends too. I mean any friend of Alex's is mine as well, for the most part, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Which I won't get into at this time because it would be another long story and I guess I am getting carried away again.
Ray chuckles at his own ways.
Well if you haven't noticed already I can get off into a tangent all by myself without anyone else to help. So if you need to say something and I just won't be quiet just let me know. I tend to ramble about nonsense sometimes.

Alex walked out of the bathroom all dressed up in his Federation Runeist uniform. (vision the SeeD uniform from FF8 as a basic picture.) As much as he would rather just where his normal clothes, he was informed he needed to dress for the ceremony. He didn't care for the uniform that much. Most runeist wore theirs most of the time. He laid his previous outfit on his bed all folded up. He then looked up to the group. "Well I guess I should be off. The council insists that this ceremony is held. I don't see the point to make a big deal out of a promotion. It just means the missions become more dangerous."
