“Demonic Possessions are only one type of evil we fight,” Father Moray sighed in exasperation. His new apprentice was even more dimwitted than the last had been. The father drew off his glasses as he sat heavily on the bench beside his young pupil, pinching viciously at a growing tension headache as he continued: “Possessions are simply a doorway, a link between this world and the other. As you aught to know by now, these windows are the souls of people whom are -”

“Psychically more powerful than other humans. I understand that, Father, what I meant was -”

“Do not interrupt me again.” Moray grumbled as he stood again, the young priest looking grief stricken at the annoyed tone to the elder man’s voice. “What you don’t seem to realize is that demons don’t just look through the windows. If they can open the windows, they come through them.”

“That is not possible!” The young priest sputtered as he came to his feet. “Father, I don’t understand. We have always been taught that Angels stay in heaven and Demons stay in hell.”

“Then how do you suppose they influence our actions?” The young man cast around the room as if he would find the answer to Moray’s question from within the stone walls and columns around them. “Stop talking about that which you know nothing about… Sit down, boy!” The young man immediately sat back down on the wooden bench, but it did not stop his fidgeting. The father sighed once more, and began to pace back and forth in front of his pupil.

“Let me remind you that all Demons are, are Angels that were cast from heaven. Now, where as you wont often run into Angels that still call Heaven there home, they do come around on occasion. There are even those that are said to be descendants of those particular angels among us -”

“Oh, the Bloodlines? Those that…came...from..” The young man’s voice dwindled away under the weight of the Father’s glare. Young Joshua fidgeted again, but remind silent as the older man resumed his pacing.

“Yes, I am speaking of the Bloodlines. Those among us that are of the Bloodline are, for all intents and purposes, Human. However, they have much longer lives and abilities that are not shared with normal human beings.” Moray paused, waiting to be interrupted again. This time, however, the younger priest remained blessedly silent. “And, yes, they are the ones you saw training on your way in here. And, yes, that is why you are here.”

“Me, Father?” Joshua’s voice squeaked past a high tenor as his eyes snapped back up to the older man’s face. “What do I have to do with any of - “

“Your mother has a lot to do with it.” For once, the old man felt a little amused at the brainless little dullard. Hopefully he would come around as quick as the rest. “You are a priest for a reason. Though, I thought, given your bloodline, you would have been a Guardian.”

“Father, I am not sure I understand you…”

“Yes, you do.” Moray sighed yet again as he faced the younger man. “You are a priest, a Healer, of sorts. You are, well, will one day be capable of bringing the dead to life and raising dead enemies to fight by the side of the righteous.”

As Moray spoke , the color began to drain out of the younger man’s face. “You must be mistaken, Father, I can’t do anything, I - “

“Are a very bad liar.” Moray again rubbed at the tension heading throbbing behind his eyes. “ You mother was a Guardian, and a damned good one.” Joshua blanched at the curse, and Moray could not help but chuckle. “I, like you, am a Priest. And, I can tell you, raising someone form the dead is draining, but not as difficult as it may sound.”

As Moray began to explain in length what Joshua’s new life would be like, it seemed only bits and pieces would seep into his brain. Guardians (Warriors for demons) were people that garnered great physical strength and seemed capable of enduring multiple mortal wounds before they started to slow down. Though brutally powerful, they were lacking in the more mystical arts of the Bloodlines. Those Guardians that attempted the other arts often lost more than they gained. They are, however, natural fighters. Any weapon can be place in their hands and they will know, seemingly instinctively, how to wield it with a deadly precision.

Rangers (Rouges for Demons), it seemed, were imbued with a speed and lightness that could allow them to seemingly fly; be it over earth, water, or thin air itself. They also had an innate ability to understand how things worked, which translated easily into knowing the best way to destroy an enemy, and what attack would cause the most possible damage. Though their bodies were not as strong as Guardians, they made up for the failing in their speed, lightness of foot, and lethal tactics. Some even preferred ranged skills, sending deadly bolts and arrows at enemies rather than rushing in for the close battle.

Priests (Pagans for Demons), often frail in body, were not so in mind. They harbored the ability of water and earth, True Light. They are born healers, often capable of healing small wounds on themselves and others long before receiving any training. The best of these could bring back the dead and raise dead enemies to fight along side them. Though taxing, and sometimes painful, they are actually very powerful. Unlike their mystical cousins (Witches/Warlocks) a Priest is capable of using their abilities seemingly endlessly as they draw energy from around them rather than from within them. Some priests, a select few, are even capable of harnessing that energy to give themselves the brutal power of a Guardian. However, this limits their ability to heal and protect others. Priests are also the only ones capable of using water and ice as destructive forces.

Witches and Warlocks (Sorcerers and Sorceresses for Demons) are immensely powerful, but physically slight and frail. They draw their abilities from an inner source of power that channels the elements of fire, earth, and air into powerful destructive forces. Many prefer to pick a single element to specialize in, though all are capable of using each. Those that favor fire can become strong enough to incinerate their enemies where they stand. Those well trained in air can direct powerful bolts of lightening and call up storms to aid them. Those in earth can insnare their enemies with wicked vines that leach the life-force from their victim. The powers and spells they garner are limited only by their inner strength and personal creativity.

--

Post Script:

All human characters are of the Bloodlines. No living human is a direct decedent of an Angel. All are simply decedents of past couplings.

As for Demons:

Vampires - Humans infected with Demonic Blood, the ancient and classical vampire we all know and love. Due to their unholy existence, they cannot stand holy symbols or items, cannot cross running water, cannot step on holy/hallowed ground, and are incapable of enduring the sunlight. Their mortal enemies are fire and a wooden stake. Also, you must destroy, completely, the heart of a vampire or it can and will come back. Cutting off the head will only slow it down for a day or two unless you expose the body to the sun. Those are set weaknesses you must follow, however, their abilities are up to you. Just keep them in the range of the Job choice you pick from above.

Demon - Basic demons are pretty simple. Anything a classic vampire can’t do, they can’t do, with the added effect that precious metals have. White and yellow gold, as well as silver, are “Metals of light” and therefore poisonous and deadly to basic demons. However, the added ability of these little beauties is that they are shifters. From being human-like, to their demonic forms (not red and horned, but their natural state as Angles cast from heave, tarnished and filthy) to any given animal form.

Succubus/Incubus: Same weaknesses as that of a basic demon. Their added ability is in charm. They take their strength from the living souls of humans, and draw it out of them using sexual appeal. This is obviously a very deadly thing to the victim, and a simple and yet powerful attack for this race of demon.

Wraith: Limited to shadows, any light at all brings them a sort of physical suffering despite their lack of a constant physical form. Often mistaken as the souls of dead humans, these demons are caught between hell and earth and have not completely crossed through the window they found. These demons do the most damage while possessing a body, and are the only earth bound demon that can infect humans. However, they are completely capable of causing trouble in their natural form. And, being as their bodies are not solid forms, they can only be killed with light, or light imbued weapons. This tends to require weapons made completely of precious metals and then blessed by priests with the energy of True Light.

Fiend Demons: These twisted, distorted little monsters are rarely more then lackeys for other demons, however, this does not mean they are weak in physical strength. Though they are not capable of wielding any sort of mystical ability (CANNOT be Pagan or Sorcerer/Sorceress) Fiend Demons are incredibly strong. While they can use weapons, these demons often prefer their natural claws and fangs. Credited with being the creatures of vampires, Fiend Demons feed on human flesh. Their weaknesses are very like other demons, except that precious metals and religious symbols mean nothing to them.

Fallen: The fallen are Angles hat have been cast out after the first purging of heaven. These demons are not wingless as their brothers, but often prefer to keep their forms simple and human-like. They are also considered the most deadly, as their weaknesses are limited. They do not need to feed on human emotions, souls, flesh, or blood as other demons do, but rather exist on the constantly recharging battery of their own energy. Sunlight, running water, and holy things do no more damage to them that it would a Human. A stake through the heart is also utterly useless. To kill a fallen, you have to take their heads and burn the body. Nothing else will get the job done. They can, however, be weakened by damage. Their bodies are strong, but can’t take much more damage than a Human body without temporarily failing.

If you have your own race of demon in mind, make sure to fully explain it’s capabilities, habits, and weaknesses!

1.) Follow Gaia and Guild Rules. Come on, this is a given.
2.) Use commonsense! No God Moding - Look, these are powerful beings, and yes, everyone can take lots of damage, and deal lots of damage, and there are lots of nifty abilities going on. But please, that does not mean your character is never going to be harmed, okay>
3.) This war, no fraternizing with the enemy. Humans, feel free to plan and scheme with your fellow humans. Demons, likewise, do the same. But lets not have any traitors, please!
4.) God exists and she is female. I love creativity and players always add something the game master couldn’t have without them, but my rules are law and you will follow them.
5.) Everyone has a weakness. Don’t make me prove it by striking you with a lightening bolt or two.
6.) Please, please, please
DO NOT leave your fellow players stranded! If you commit to playing, then check back regularly and often to see what is going on! If you are dropping out, LET ME KNOW!
7.) Send your App by PM, subject “They Hide Here” so I know that you know the rules. razz
8.)Above all else…
HAVE FUN! xd

Your Goddess Thanks you!

Humans:

1.)
Handler: LeatrixSage
Name: Dragonseeker, Azura Lee
Nickname: Lee
Race: Human
Age: 17
Gender: female
Orientation: Bisexual
Title: Priest
Weapon(s) of Choice: A small dagger crafted from a combination of steel, platinum, and white gold, with a handle of swirling, blue and white marble. Diamonds, white sapphires, and clear quarts catch and throw light, making the small weapon glow.
Abilities: Although a healer, like most Priests, Azura specializes in ice magics. It is more taxing to use the more destructive abilities, but it enables her to defend herself so that those she battles beside do not have to defend her. Where as she is not old enough, nor strong enough to raise the dead, she is fully capable of healing mortal wounds.
Personality:Azura loathes violence and has only recently become accustomed to the sight of blood. However, as the last living member of the Dragonseeker blood line, she feels obligated to do her duty. Her blood is thin, and not as strong as some others, but with training she has come to be an asset to the Church.
History: Azura, unlike so many these days, was born to the life in the Church. Her parents, like Azura, were priests as well. And, although they did not live long after her birth, they did leave her with a wealth of knowledge. The Library of the Temple, a safe house for all the Bloodlines, is the center of so many memories of her parents. All each generation can do for the next is leave behind mountains of text in an attempt to pass on knowledge. Her parents were great contributors, much like many other members of her great family.

As Azure grew up, she came to see herself as the one the set an example for all others that came to train at the temple. So many came from outside the core families, with no knowledge of who or what they were. She came to feel like their protector as well as their leader. It is a daunting weight that rests on her shoulders, but she has come to accept it. Father Moray often told her that she was not expected to lead now. That simply meant that, if she survived, she would either need to find someone that wanted to position, or be forced to wear the yoke of her family name.

Because of this, she has trained faithfully throughout her life. It often isolates her, others seeing her as cold and arrogant. She hates the image associated with her, but is unwilling to allow anyone close enough to see anything else. With the many deaths she has been forced to witness, she has long come to believe that the Bloodlines will soon be extinct. Making friends was pointless. All that mattered was taking as many demons out of this world as they could before their short lives ended. Gruesome, painful, bloody ends await every single person she meets. Every new face will one day be a memory or horror.

Appearance:Azura Dragonseeker

Demons:

1.)
Handler: beckithewatermage
Name: Lamya Neri
Race: Fallen
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual
Title: Sorceress
Weapon(s) of Choice:She carries a knife for close combat, otherwise her magic is channelled through runes upon her body. She also carries various poison vials.
Abilities: Lamya is a mistress of poison and flora. Her control over nature is her main speciality, although this sometimes branches out into control of the earth beneath her feet.
Personality: Lamya seems quite a solitary creature, keeping a distance from even those of her own kind, although she knows where her heart lies. She can be prone to jealous and vain tendencies, and is one of calm strategy as opposed to being fully offensive.

She will speak to anyone if they give her a kindly word, although her responses will be brief and cold. However, if there is a job in hand, or you have riled her immensely, she will not stop until your life is taken.

History:Lamya was cast out so long ago. So long ago that the reasoning to her seems impossible to remember. All she can remember is the place, how wonderful heaven was, and how wonderful it would be to find her way back again, at any cost.

Hell was a dismal place. Full of hate, and loathing, and destruction, it gave many a wise fallen angel a time to reminisce and simmer in their emotions. Their glory was destroyed. Their once beautiful forms were now but ash.

But that was the past. Now Lamya has found her way out of the gates of hell with her brethren, and lives among humankind. At first a vagrant, she has learned their ways, their ways which seem not unlike the demons in hell. Their greed, hatred and jealousy seemed to burn strong, and this was where she made her money, selling poisons and assassinations, but for a price. A vial of each customers blood, and coinage to boot.

But she is yet to have any luck.

Appearance: Lamya Neri

2.)
Handler: Kyasuke909
Name: Kakeios Aristides
Race: Incubus
Gender:Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Title: Rogue
Weapon(s) of Choice: He carried two daggers as his main weapons, but also a longsword for more frontal confrontations. He also uses a bow and some arrows, the tips of which are laced in paralytic poison.
Abilities: He is extremely fast, and clever. He is fairly good with illusionary magic, and generally uses this for stealth purposes. He can use some offensive magic, but is much worse at this. He can on the lust of his enemies for power.
Personality: In reality Kakeios is extremely sinister, and something of a sadist, but he displays this in a playful way. He always appears as a jolly, happy, good humoured being. He enjoys playing with people he meets, as much as he can, often making them lustfull, and then using that to his advantage.

History:Kakeios was cast into hell for loving an angel of a higher station in than himself, while in heaven. This set him up perfectly to be an incubus in his time in hell. Upon arriving in hell, he endured grievous torture involving taunting his rather...primal urges.
Hell was a horrific place, the fact that he had been sent to such a terrible place for what he considered to be an innocent thought quickly instilled in him a resentment for heaven. This resentment later spread to pretty much all life, for a while at least. The constant torture eventually drove him slightly insane, and his resentment returned to being directed primarily at heaven, but he became extremely sadistic, and obsessed with psychology...Or rather, how to use it to his advantage.
This obsession combined with his abilities as an Incubus made him a powerful being, but he found his ability to flaunt this limited in hell, and naturally the second he could escape to Earth, he did. He takes Earth as his opportunity to have his revenge on the divine, and to play around with all the nice human toys that were so kindly laid out for him...

Appearance:Kakeios Aristides

In a world much like our own, technology has stalled out in favor of the mystic. The countries of Saradien, Andorran, Coronae, Deivane, and Fangorin are much like seventeenth century Europe. Apart from that in this world, everyone is well acquainted with the existence of the Demons and Angles that occasionally walk among them.

For many years, there has been a kind of stalemate between the humans born of Angles and the Demons that find their way into the living realm. Recently, the balance of these things has begun to change. More and more demons are finding ways into the Human realm and the Bloodlines are growing smaller and smaller. More of the Ones From Above die off every year, leaving few children behind to carry on their legacy. And those children that are born are becoming less and less likely to carry the abilities of their elders as their blood is too thin. Recently, the Church finds it more and more difficult to ferret out distant relatives of the original Bloodlines in search of those still carrying enough Angel blood to be useful.

The world is a ticking time bomb. To make matters worse, word has reached both sides that an Angle, Randal, has become trapped between Earth and Hell. A human controlled by a Wraith summoned his aid, and theAangle was tricked into bondage. He has managed to hide himself from demon kind, but that will only last for so long.

Demons want the blood of the Angle to reclaim some of their Heavenly power, stripping them of the weaknesses long pressed upon them. Humans seek the Blood of this Angle to bolster their strength and refresh their numbers.

Latest News: We’re just getting started! I think we aught to try to get at least 2 players of each faction (Bloodlines vs. Demons) before we open.
