Only two movies in the history of ever have been nominated for Best Picture, the first being Beauty and the Beast, and the second being Up. Beauty and the Beast was nominated back before the Best Animated Picture category was created, and since then none have been nominated for Best Picture. But this year, Up was! This is a big accomplishment for Up, as usually animated films are stuck with winning Best Animated Picture at best.
So here's my question: Do you think Up deserves the nomination for Best Picture? Do you think Up will win? If you don't think it will win, what do you think will?
Please explain your answers, as I want us to have a real discussion!

Personally, I think Up totally deserved the nomination for Best Picture! I loved Up, and can honestly say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen.
However, I don't think it will win. I would love it to, but next to the hugely-popular Avatar, I doubt any movies have much of a chance. (I haven't seen Avatar yet, so I don't know if it deserves its obvious win.) But hey, Up got nominated for Best Animated Picture too(so did The Princess and the Frog), so it will win that no question. I can live with that.

This is an EPIC accomplishment for Disney in itself! I am very proud of it! :3
BUT. . .
Personally, I don't think UP will win. It was really cute, but it made me cry three different times crying
I loved it don't get me wrong, but I just don't think it will one, I agree with you, Avatar is bound to win ((I really want it too; sorry for all you people who want UP to win)).
Avatar did earn the most money, it was the more popular of the rest of the nominees, I saw it twice myself. ;o

I'm actually going to see Avatar soon, maybe either Friday or Saturday. Then perhaps I will agree about how great it was. And, just wondering, didn't Avatar make more money than any movie ever in the history of film making? That's a pretty big deal.

I just googled your question XD
Avatar did not earn the most money, Titanic did. Though, they were by the same director and whatnot o:

i want UP to win and i'm going to think positively for it, but it's going to have a hard time beating avatar. which was an equally as great movie.

I finally saw Avatar, and I can't help but agree. I'd love Up to win, but I doubt it will. But hey, nomination is a big deal! I mean, this year had a lot of really great movies. So Up is very lucky to have been nominated in the first place!
