Guardian
Name: Marcus Cruxi
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Profession: Developer of cancer resisting drug, L-o87, or, the Fallout Pill
Country of Origin: Syria
Family: Mother has become slightly insane, and father died of exposure to radioactive patients. No siblings. Owns a pet desert tortoise*
*might change to just a common turtle, due to the fact while its a good pet, the species might have gone extinct
History: His mother a nurse and his father a general surgeon, the war had an immediate effect on the Cruxi family. His Father was drafted as a war surgeon, leaving Marcus's mother the task of raising their son. It was his family background in medicine that led Marcus to later purse a career as a biological researcher and drug developer, which would come later in life.
As the war reached it's peek, news came in that Marcus's father died of cancer, most likely caused by an influx of radioactive patients he was in close contact with. The news sent Marcus's mother into a deep grief. Marcus was away from home at the government funded university at the time, and didn't get the news until he graduated that summer.
Upon his arrival home, his mother was naturally, in a deep state of depression, resigning herself to sitting about the house and staring at walls like a vegetable. Marcus was depressed but dealt with in what he called 'a productive manner'. As in, he threw himself into research that would later lead to L-o87, or, the fallout pill.
At first however, the pill had only been developed to encourage the resistance of cancerous cell growth, slowing the development of the mutant cells. Funded by the government, veteran societies, and even some "private investors", many were eager to have at least a way to slowdown the inevitable death from the nuclear fallout, (hence the name, the fallout pill, as taken by some fallout survivors).
As money began to flow in from investors and 'happy customers' Marcus's mother became resentful, seeing her son as a shame and a selfish spoilded child, (he wasn't). As his mother's antics grew, eventually a doctor visit confirmed his worst fear. His mother had gone insane. Doctors assumed it was from grief and possible exposure to radioactivity. By this time however, Marcus had come to expect it, finding his mother simply a bit..strange. Sure, he feels some sadness at the fact that she will sometimes mistake him for a skunk, but in his mind, she died years ago with his father. He still visits her in the asylum on Saturdays, though, the visits he would describe as boring for conversation, but highly entertaining in value.
A year has past and now Marcus as further developed the fallout pill; if taken before exposure to radioactivity, it can lessen the risk of cancerous cells forming. The drawback is that it's not perfect and those who receive it tend to think themselves immune. It also has a nasty side effect of rendering you infertile, and if taken in more then a recommended dosage, it will kill you. Rarer side effects such as blindness and loss of dexterity do crop up, but overall, The Preventer Pill works like a charm.
Sad to say, it's not up for just anyone. The government only gives it to the highest ranking officials, and each dose much be personally cleared with Marcus to ensure that that patient doesn't accidentally die. It also means that as the only one to be able to clear the pill's use, Marcus is the only one able to really 'sell' the drug. That is, he just happens to 'find' a bottle laying about his office and he just 'accidentally' mails it to the wrong address. Giving a 'general' explanation on how to take the medication.
He's moved to Saltaire at government request due to its 'hidden away' aspect and the fact it also allows the government to keep tabs on Marcus and his research.
(Alternate: Grew up in a family of art collectors who would buy up stolen family heirlooms and priceless works of art that would have been otherwise lost in the war. Doesn't 'sell' them back but rather charges as small 'holding' fee. With interest. His actual job is just an investor.)
Personality:
"We just don't see eye to eye." Marcus is his own special brand of special. He's a bit aloof in certain mannerism, taking things at a slower pace then most, (and don't you dare rush perfection because he is going to get s**t perfect okay), and tending to treat things will a certain level of apathy. Light hearted, yet not uncaring or unfeeling. (WILL DO MORE LATER)
He tends to spend either his time painting, working, or reading. Cesar his turtle has free roam in his study, (The turtle is house trained).
Why a prince:

vamps, i'm thinking you should go with artificial bone restructure, if not a completely different thing. as said before, we don't like every-one having the same occupation, and rochelle (cat's char)'s dad is an artificial limb maker person. Quote: Father: Leonid Nikonov - Works in the medical field, specializes in xxxxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxdesigning prosthetic limbs and growing organs. it's a pretty huge part of rochelle's life. then again you could obviously use the job, i'm just saying that it won't be that interesting for us 'cause we've already seen it before, and it isn't really as original as you probably hoped it could've been D: also, with the frog, it wouldn't be able to 'get everywhere' unless he was as mischievous as tibalt, and tibalt is left alone for the great majority of his lifetime -- usually that behavior results whenever the owner doesn't take care of his frog or doesn't keep the brooch near his/her heart. as for his personality, i'm not so sure that marcus would be labeled, 'eccentric'. i mean, i guess what you've said refers to him as so, but it doesn't seem as extreme as it should. and, as of right now he seems a bit ... boring. oh, lost his parents -- withdrawn, cold and then when you know him better, he becomes sweet and childish around you and everyone starts sorta loving him. i mean, from what i've seen so far from him, i want to marry him -- i mean, a little coldness is actually sorta hot. i think it would be good if you could flesh out his personality a bit more, and explain how he felt when his mother and father left him in more detail, because obviously that should take much more space then it does as of right now. it would be a huge event to lose your mother and father, and you should explain more about life after that as well. i like your writing style though -- it reminds me of mine. sorta comforting. :9 oh, and it's called a prosthetist, i believe. <33

Danke. Wasn't aware of another char with same occupation. My bad.
I'll try to flesh them out both a little more. Thank you so much for the help.
