So, I'm thinking about making an extremely simplified version of a table top game. The plot is this:

You, a normal human, have been whisked away to Arcadia, the realm of the Fae. You've been kidnapped because something about you is particularly impressive to the fae. The Fae being oddly fickle may have picked you for your beauty, maybe for your strength, intelligence, or anything else; but they have grown bored of you. Like a child with new toys you've been forgotten, but now you've escaped. It's hard to say if it was you being smart or sneaky, or if this is some big game to the fae who captured you, but now you're back in the real world.

You look different from everyone. No one sees it, but you do. You've taken on different physical traits, looking more fae-like. You need to try to adjust to life in the real world, but all the rules seem so backwards now. It's scary to try fitting in. Time has passed and some of the changelings have been replaced in the real world. Someone is walking around that looks like you, raising your kids, kissing your wife, working at your job. Even if there isn't one of these creatures posing as you, how can you just go home and try fitting in after all of this?

Danger lurks everywhere for you. You'll be able to find a very small Changeling community to live in, gain some allies. It'd be a safe bet saying that the Fae who once took you wants you back.

Okay, so, the dice will be 10-sided. This is a World of Darkness system, so I'm going to simplify it into a very short list of spells everyone can pick from. I'll keep the courts (spring, summer, fall, winter) but I might just nix the what type of changeling aspect to make things nice and simple. (Normally there are a bunch, like Fairest, Orcs, Wizened, Beasts, ect ect ect.) So, you can pick your character's appearance, which will make things nice and easy.

There will be three stats, Physical, mental, and charisma. Each will help with different spells as well as non-magical situations.

I will formulate everything if I get enough people who are honestly interested. I will also answer any and all questions asked here.

So, what I ask of you, the players, is to be able to play often. Now I don't need posts every day, but I don't want you vanishing for weeks at a time, posting then vanishing, again. I also want people who can type meaty posts. A few lines won't cut it. I'm being rather picky. sweatdrop Also, I need people who will work with me. It helps if you've ever played a table top RPG before like WoD, DnD, or anything of the sort where you have a story teller. (Not a requirement, but it helps!)

I feel like I'm asking for a lot, but please post if you are even remotely interested. Thanks!! <3

I'd love to do a Changeling-based rp! WoD has one of the best interpretations of the Fey I've seen, and this one in particular can introduce some intense drama. I'm a little dry these days, but so long as I'm not GMing it'll be great fun. I already have two characters in mind...

You take your wyrm elsewhere, you puppy-wolfie! XD Take your wyrm, and your pretty dancers and go howl at the moon. ROFL

But seriously, if you are interested, Alex, it good that you know a WoD system.

Okay, so I don't know exactly how to condense everything but I will be thinking it all over and typing things out as soon as I know what will work.

I'm thinking 1's will be about the same, as will ten. (Doing ten-again will be too much for a board, so the bonus will just be great success) I think I'll make the average target number 6-7. I don't want people tossing a million dice, so I need to condense the skill and stuff way down.

smile

The plot will be pretty simple to start and depending on the players things might get crazy.

To clarify werebeasts hate the Wyrm with intense passion...>___>;;

I've played VTM the most out of my WoD career and a little bit of Werewolf the Apocalypse, never got to play Changeling though...I do have the book though...

I'm have trepidations about a dice-based role-play. to paraphrase In Nomine, a role-play should be about story and character development; the dice are only there to settle disputes of the mechanics. you know? I'm generally certain everyone in this guild is a good enough writer to not need dice; and you'll be GMing and we can use OOC to.. decide what's kosher or not. I just think having to use the dice is going to hamper this kind of rp; if its something we can omit I'd rather do that.

I would like to toss out that I have a PDF of the Changeling corebook, and can provide a link to the free download. So, either by handing out the link or I could help write stuff up-- either way could ease up the amount you have to type.

Yeah, if you need any help with anything, let me know. You've been helping me out lately and I'm fine with returning the favor anytime. smile

HOLY s**t! I haven't heard of a SINGLE soul who knows about In Nomine! I've had this freaking book for years and never actually got a chance to actually do a game on it! I thought it was like a dead game kind of like Arduin...

Well, In Nomine is kind of dead; but the writers still update the forums last I checked. I'm not big on table-tops, but I'm big on fantasy, so I read corebooks like that for the ideas. Angels are an old obsession of mine so I was thrilled to hear about an rpg with them.

Alex: Oh, I know. I'm just teasing. XD I never played Werewolf, but I know a bit about it. I Play V:tM, and I've been trying to get an IRL Changeling group together but there aren't enough gamers that want to "play Fae" ... which makes me frustrated they'd even insinuate Changelings and Fae are the same thing.

Sophie: Awesome! I think posting the link will be a huge benefit. (Is it old WoD or New WoD?) I have the New core book, myself. I see what you mean about the dice being a hindrance, but I'm trying to think of a sort of spells/mana system so people aren't just saying "Oh, my spell works and yours didn't effect me." or "I'm going to cast all willy nilly." Like you said I don't think it will be a huge problem, but there may be one or two people that don't realize they are walking that thin line of power-gaming. Any ideas? smile

Hatter: I love your face. XD I'd love any and all help. I need a solid plot based off the one I posted up top. A short spell list might be helpful if you can think of any. I might let people pick their own, but also offer a list to help. Any ideas?

Also, I need to think of a title for the RP, because if we don't use dice like Sophie mentioned I don't want to call it changeling because it's almost not the same game anymore. XD

Oh, snap. Me, too! I remember this one guy in the group tried to give me some sh!t for playing one, saying that people who play them always played them wrong, and how they are like the C/N Halfling Rouge that noobs play in DnD. I gave him an earful then showed him how a good RPer plays a Malk. Bleh! I hate when people generalize like that.

My main suggestion for that is OOC smacking. -shrug- you could emphasize strengths and weaknesses in the profiles. clearly explain the rules without dice mechanics? A lot of it is probably knowing your players and tailoring a campaign to that. Most of the guild seems to like drama more then combat; in that case I would say, "eh more or less all spells work", except for when an actual Fae shows up- and then present them as unstoppable otherworldly badasses that our drama loving characters can't scratch.
The players mostly interested in fighting are going to have some experience with it, and probably won't powerplay. OOC smacking should level them out were they too, but

anyway, here is the download for the Changeling corebook. I have no idea if its new or old-- my copy is 2007 ed and I think this one is too. The site is free; I got a bunch of rule books off of it and no viruses so far, but you might want to scan your computer afterwards.
