I am Tohopekaliga. That is Toe hoe peh kal iga. Most people just write Toho.
If you're curious where that name comes from, it is the name of a lake (two, actually, there is an "east" one) near Kissimmee, Florida. I lived in Kissimmee until I was 8, when I moved a few miles north.
I still live in Florida, of course, so I'm in the US Eastern Time zone, although I'm on almost all hours of day and night. If you wish to contact me, PM works fine. If you wanna use a messenger, I prefer MSN, with tohopekaliga@live.com
I might make some pretty banners and things for this...but really, it's not about the pretty banners, is it?
I reject your reality, and substitute my own.

This lovely little froggy is a Pine Barrens Tree Frog, Hyla andersonii. They are native to forests (pine forests, would you believe it?) in a few areas of the Southeastern United States. They're pretty standard, as far as froggies go, aside from being rather rare. I've got a nice little field guide thing that has a fantastic picture of 'em, showing a pretty red-brown belly, and red stripes with yellow-orange spots by the legs. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that picture online.

The Guardian Character
Kārlis Zariņš Kar-liss Zarinysh
Age: 28 Height: 5'11" Weight: 170lbs Hair: Short light brown Eyes: Green
Place of Birth: Riga, Latvia
Occupation: Historian** **Marked Classified, SECRET: SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) Specialist, Advanced computer analyst of trends in public opinion and activity. Primarily responsible for data collection and analysis for Saltaire. One of 10 analysts in Britain with complete historical records, including viewpoints not endorsed by the MOTHERLAND.
Appearance: A lean man, with little muscle definition, or fat. He is a fairly stereotypical computer programmer, at least when comparing with centuries before, in the 21st century. To combat local weather, he often wears rather large overcoats, grey, black, or dark blue.
Due to his reliance upon neural-linked computers, and nano technology to maintain it, there are several odd points to his look. Specifically, light will occasionally reflect off of his eyes showing gold flecks, where there are connections to the computer core. On the back of his neck, there is a small device that is the outer point of his neural link computer. As it is small, a person must be looking for it (as well as the light trick of his eyes).
Personality: Generally soft-spoken and reserved. He only really will speak to people he doesn't know when there is a definite need, which includes acquiring new business opportunities. In which cases, he speaks clearly and with confidence. He believes in the concepts of right and wrong, charity and mercy. Not very good ideals for a person with high security clearance and information access...so he does his best to not acknowledge what he thinks about most everything in the world, merely acknowledging what is most expedient.
Brief History: Toho hasn't thought this out very well just yet, and will stick more detail in when he comes up with it...
Kārlis and his family were relocated from Riga when he was 8 years of age.
Kārlis' job gives him access to some of the most advanced computer systems available, and he makes full use of them all, above and beyond what he needs them for in standard assignments. His home, a small flat with two bedrooms, a single bathroom, a kitchen and some sitting area, has nearly as many computers as the rest of the block combined, half of which are running at any given moment, collecting data and organizing it for his daily review. Data he collects includes regional traffic on the modern version of the ancient Internet, voice channels, some public conversations, mail data...pretty much anything that government surveilance can pick up in the area.
The Computers: Most computers Kārlis operates are not much different from the way computers have been for centuries. The notable exceptions are his nanobot controller, which he mostly uses to keep all of his electronics in perfect working order (although could, in theory, be used for other purposes), and his neural link.
The Neural Link is essentially another computer that runs on his spinal column. It is tied into his synapses, and responds to certain specific commands issued to it. On board to the neural computer is a paltry memory core of 2 terabytes of L1-Cache level RAM, and a high-end massively parallel processor.
Using the Neural Link, he can connect to any computer near him that accepts remote connections (all do by default), transfer data, and submit queries and commands to them. As he is nearly always near some computer, he uses this to 'keep an ear out' for things he should know about right away.
He can also silently dictact to a word processor, with words being written as fast as he can think them. That is his usual method for writing reports, and stories when he feels the need to.
The Neural Link does not work like "the Matrix" from an ancient movie of The West...it does not give him instant access to skills and abilities he does not possess. He can almost instantly have the information, but his mind must still learn it like any other person, albeit with a more efficient book.
