So, my reading teacher made my class read a book called Maus by Art Speigleman.

It's a graphic novel/autobiography/biography [PG-13 MATERIAL]

It's a about a Polish-Jew Holocaust survivor, Vladek, and what it was like during the Holocaust. He married a woman named Anja, who had committed suicide a few decades after Artie was born and who was also a Polish-Jew.

To read more about it, please click here. [I'm too lazy to explain]

I've heard of that book.
It's the Holocaust, except the characters are animals, right?
If you recommend it, I should find the time to pick it up and read it.

Night, by Elie Wiesel, is one of the best Holocaust stories I think I have ever/will ever read because it's an actual first-hand account, and though it's awful what happened, you can't put it down to save your life.

Eh...
I'd recommend The Zombie Survival Guide, but even though it's labelled as 'humor' it's really seriously written. It scares me, because it's hard not to believe it...

Erm, we're allowed to post our own book recommendations, neh?

We had to read Animal Farm by George Orwell. I kept on smiling when I read it because the Farmer's name was JONES! They lived in England & the book symbolizes the Russian Revolution!! Some of the animals even seemed like Hetalia characters! 4laugh

I am SO glad there's a thread for this. If you are a USXUK fan there is a book that you MUST read, you won't be able to read it with out smiling.

It's called 'The Few: The American Knights of Air who Fought in the Battle of Britain'

I based a lot of my characterizations of America, England and Australia on this book. It's a story of pilots who flew spitfires, Americans who comprimised their US citizen ship to fight to protect Britain. There are pilots from all corners of the British Empire.

The kicker is that there is a pilot the British nick named 'America'.

It was the most amazing OTP book ever. It was very passionate and it's not a wonder why Great Britain could stand up to Germany while it was being pummeled by the Blitz.

It was literally because of the RAF that Great Britain survived long enough till America entered the game. I cannot absolutely cannot recommend this book enough.

Me and my friend read it (because we both love Battle of Britain stories) and now we're both looking for a copy of Art Donahue's flight book. Supposedly only six were ever produced and all six copies are in the UK.

Art Donahue was buried under both the Union Jack and US flag. Since he had flown for both countries. (he used to be a US citizen but decided to fight for Britain. Under the US Neutrality laws, any US citizen caught participating in the war would be jailed. So a lot of US pilots charaded as Canadians.)
