Just curious, I sortof want to ask my bf to marry me soon, I know he doesn't really want to for another few years, but, why can't we at least get engaged, ya know?
And I want some ideas on what to do. lol or what people would like to happen, ect.

Maybe its just the mainstream concept , but aren't guys supposed to ask the girls? I just can't picture a girl getting on her knees and asking someone, perhaps i'll youtube it. I'd rather you wait till you guys are fully ready. It is a huge commitment.
I'll be proposing to my wife in the future some interesting but original way. I'm not to sure how it will be set out, most of the time proposals are hasty, and its hard to make everything right, but I will do my best haha

Ooh.. Becareful with that. Some guys see it as THEY Should be the one doing it. Might make them feel less of a man, or some silly thing. o_o But you're not looking for advice on that-
If I could have everything go my way, theres a few fairly romantic ways to do it.
1. Theres the what I call 'classic' Way. Dining at a restaurant full of people, and he, in front of everyone, gets on his knee, and does a little speech about how he loves me ( xD) loud enough for everyone to hear. I, Of course, would be rather embarrassed, but love it at the same time.
2. 'Surprise Proposal' Kinda like a Surprise birthday party, ( lol) Have everyone we care about around in some sort of 'gathering' And he askes me.
Unfortunately though, anything more extravagant than that, would cost a lot more money, than either of us have. Lol, But honestly, as long as its not " Here stupid I got you something." ( Which I actually had happen, but thats for another story.) I'd love whatever he decided to do. After of course, if he asked my step-dad his okay with it ( Because I think my step-dad would ADORE that)

Oooh how sweet 8'D I like the surprise type. But i would definately save up all of my bucks and sell my motorcycle and even maybe my laptop to get a girl a diamond on her finger. I would go to the fancy delicious restuarants. I know a guy who proposed to his gf in a wendys with a 30$ ring from walmart wahmbulance Didnt end so good but they still got married.

He's never been much of the man, and he's a very unconventional guy at that, so I don't think he'd mind me asking. XD
= w= If he proposed to me in a restaraunt and made a speech, I'd kick him in the face and promptly leave.
Not because it's not sweet, but because it's humiliating and I'd much prefer him asking me in private to making US the center of attention when I'm not planning it.
>___>" I'm very self-concious in large groups. I don't think I'd ask him in a large group, maybe at a restaurant, but late night or when it's not so busy or something. = w= <3

xD I'm normally uncomfortable in large groups, But I always wanted that experience. I Don't know why. I'm sure I'll be embarrassed, since I get easily embarrassed as it is. Lol, But if you do ask him, Good luck! And I wish you happiness =)

Unconventional or not, emotions and opinions change, especially if he has no idea your going to do it, if you do ask him in public, he might then realzie "wait, i know I should be doing this" and it would embarass a man ALOT more then a woman knowing everyones seeing a man get proposed to. Its one of those few traditions, guys ask the girls to dances, dates ,numbers, and to get married. It may not seem right, but I sorta like it, to be honest i'd be giggling if I saw you propose. If I was the man i'd be to embarassed to say anything. But if you really think he's going to take it well give a shot I guess. I wish you all the happiness!

☾ ☆♪♫★ ☽ ☾ ☆♫♪★ ☽ "Stick that in your Juice Box & Suck it~""My Ex purposed to me back when we were still dating.. The set up was less than ideal.. We were living under my mother's roof since he was kicked out of his house. I had a fight with my mom so I was upset that night, we did the whole boyfriend/girlfriend way of cheering up but I was still sad afterwords. I remember just sitting on the side of my bed crying he left the bed to get something off my dresser got down on one knee and purposed with the ring I bought him.. I said yes but as the story goes it didn't pan out so well.." <- DO NOT DO. D:
"NOW Cory (Current boyfriend) is looking to purpose, I know this so it wont be a surprise I just don't know how he will.. First things first, he wants to ask my dad for my hand in marriage.. My parents were old fashion so they would appreciate it(He'd have to ask mom too if she were still alive). But that's what we're talking about now.. Plus he's been asking about what kind of ring I'd want him to get me.. And sure I'd love a nice ring, but nothing that's gonna be really expensive.. I know he loves me.. More than the first guy I mentioned."
"Ideal proposal would be I have no clue this is going on (I watched too much tv in my life time so it's hard for people to actually surprise me.. I saw the first bf's proposal coming because I knew he kept the ring I bought him over there..) For this I would want my boyfriend to ask for my hand without me knowing, get me a ring and have the setup some place romantic but quiet. (Never liked groups.. Besides some people feel pressured to say yes even though they might not be ready, or feel that this isn't the right person to be with.) Maybe a corner of my favorite sushi restaurant or at the sushi bar on a week night so there isn't a lot of people. We're holding hands and having a good time, then our sushi is presented on the top of everything there's a clam, inside it Cory takes out the ring and gets down on one knee..."
"Sounds corny I know but I like a guy who's creative.. (I saw this one guy build a diamond ring out of legos and present it to his girlfriend with the real ring inside it was awesome!). All and all I know when Cory proposes it'll be the happiest day of my life because we'll be sharing it together. Knowing him he might be so excited he'll propose in one of our airports be it in Winnipeg, Canada or Boston, Massachusetts." ☾ ♥♡ ☽ ☾ ♥♡ ☽ (click the pictures?)

=,= Is it bad that I've never really thought about how I want to be proposed to..? I sat a few minutes thinking about it before posting this, and I suppose I'd want the d00d to do it in a manner that fits his personality. If he did it in a way that I felt wasn't "him," I'd be disappointed.

I'm with you copeh~ I've never really thought out how I'd like to be proposed to either DX I think my boyfriend might be waiting until we move out together first, when we would be able to spend time together more than two or three nights a week (different schedules)
It's also really sad when I'm at work and the regulars ask me what Jerm got me for Christmas; "A Ring??" and I'm like no. lol and then they go on to demand why not XD I also get a lot of "Your next D<" from people in my sister's group of friends who all have kids @_@
When my brother in-law proposed to my sister. We were all camping (lol) with the family, and their daughter was about 5-6 months old. he got me and mother to put the ring in the baby's pocket on her sweater and when we gave her the baby there was something along the lines of "what's in Brooklyn's pocket? O:" and when she dug in it and pulled it out he was on his knee asking her.
It was cute lol

Actually, my boyfriend got me a ring for christmas, it's really pretty, but it wasn't so we could get engaged or anything, it was because he knows rings are the only jewelry I wear (and like, usually).

ha extra excited to answer this question. Thinking about it is fun! lol
Umm I really wanna be asked infront of a crowd of people. I want that moment where everyone stops and just watches the two of us and he says this beautiful amazing speech to me, and I am also truly surprised. I don't expect it. I don't really care where, but I just always imagined it maybe while I was working and he shows up at my job and asks infront of everyone..something where everyone can see I guess.lol
I think of pretty woman a lot as well...with him climbing the thingy to m apartment or something..I dont know..lol

Yeah I'm a sort of traditional/old fashioned girl for something and would wait for the first move/be proposed instead of proposing. xD
But I'm single never reaaaally thought about it. Furthest I thought about my future is finish college>get a job>get my own place>ok what now? ._.;
I usually like small, intimate things but I think I would like if I got proposed in public. I like surprises. xD
