Learning German is challenging, it is. To pronouce the words properly, and use them in a sentence correctly. German is a very guteral language. You use your throat and you spit and you sound so mean when you speak German, but actually, it's kinda pretty. Here are the basics for you to learn, study, and memorize.

Hello- Gootn Tag(goo-TIN TOG)
Thank you- Danke (DAHNK-uh)
Goodbye- Auf Wiedersehen
Good Afternoon- You can just say, "Gootn Tag". There is spesific greeting for "Good Afternoon".
Good Morning- Guten Morgen(goo-TIN mor-gen)
Good Night- Gute Nacht(goot Nach-it)

I think that's enough so far. Make sure you study these words sometime. Write them down, and how to pronouce them. Memorize them as best as you can, okay? Gute Nacht!

Hello literally is Hallo.

You say Guten Tag the whole day long, like you would use Good Afternoon, I guess. Before Noon we say Good Morning - Guten Morgen, after Noon we use Guten Tag, and in the evening we say Guten Abend. Good Night - Gute Nacht is only used as a Byebye (if you use it at the end of a long evening) or as "Have a nice sleep".
