I would like to know your views on using violence in order to prevent hatred groups having their ideas made reality. and to protect a 'free' society?

Personally I believe that violence should be avoided, but not at all costs, it should be used as a last resort only when all other options ave failed.
But I believe there comes a time when it is necersary, and in order to protect life it needs to be used, and once it has been decided to be used, then should be so with no hesitation, and as much furosity untill the threat is eradicated.

There is a saying that was said after the second world war and it sums up my views. It goes something like this.
"All it takes for Evil to conquer is for a few good men to do nothing."

If the 'allies' including France had prevented Hitler sooner many millions of lives on both sides would have been spared. (of course they had no idea of what hitlers true horrors included. but the fact still stands.

Also I am no longer religious, but believe in the teachings of christ, as they are just common sense. He basically says if you are struck turn the other cheek... But you should not stand idly by when the innocent and your friends need help, but should protect them. If we stick to this many problems will be solved. but will mean violence, but for a 'worthy' cause.

It's tempting... And one might say "the strength of liberal democracy is open
debate" or whatnot, but there HAVE been times, albeit in newly-formed ex-monarchies, where fascism won out...

Still, I've always been prone to thinking the biggest threat to liberty comes usually from within... It's a difficult topic, but all I can say is that once governments begin oppressing even the most evil ideas, it becomes a short time before they use it against other "enemies..."

That said, fascist coup attempts, paramilitaries, et al should be treated with ten times the violence they attempt.

In our society you can say whatever you want, I could go out and burn a black manaquin if I wanted in the middle of town. But its the point where actions turn violent that force is necessary. Let racists be racists if they arent going to hurt anyone.

I agree with the last point...for one reason... that conflict with the idea that sometimes fascism has won in recent times... In this modern day and age, with technology science etc, there is no place for any form of abuse intolerance etc... It WILL all come to an end as most of the world are qute liberal people, and for our Species to survive that is the ONLY way to go, besides we have come to far to go back those that have freedom or tasted it will never let go of that.

im kinda passive aggressive you know, gerneraly non-voilent. but i know it is in human nature to be in conflict!. i dont think racists should be left to be just racists i think that it is important to try to dissmantle ingorance such as racism. kind of almost teach the racist that racism is wrong and they should seek another way. i guess that that is almost like trying to convert someone almost manipulateing but i feel that apathy towards racism is worse than manipulation.

I dont think violence is a good idea in a situation dealing with extreamists. i think that violence brings about a change too quickly and if you reverse the mantle of power through violence, violence becomes a strong part of the peoples idea on how to deal with thier nations problems. not only that but it also creates more hostility towards the people who were supporters and simpathisers of the previous power and it can cause long long heated conflict.

I feel that a revolution is best happened peacefully and gradually.
