Haha. Not really. I don't really hate them.
But hear me out. I've been around on Gaia for a long time, since 2004. And I hate to be one of those "back in the day" kinda folks, but the new Gaia events honestly make my soul cringe.
I can't believe we have to buy items now in order for the event to happen or to have event items. I think it's so disgusting and corporate. What's better: paying for something or earning it through hard work? For example, Halloween2k4. I loved shooting zombies and eating people and getting awesome grombie skins in return.
Now we have to pay for this love charm or whatever. It's awful. Most of Gaia's population is in the high school range and they are not making their own money, which means that it's really their parents who are taking the brunt of Gaia's new system.
Wow. It was good to get that out.
What do you all think? Are you okay with paying for events? Or do you think Gaia should rethink itself again?

Gaia should definitely rethink itself. I haven't been here as long as you, probably only since 06 on a few different accounts...but the reason I joined this site was because you didn't have to BUY anything to do the cool stuff, like a lot of the other community avatar site-things out there. It was great, considering I don't have access to internet money, and I also don't believe in paying for pixelated items that have no impact on my actual life. But now there's nothing 'cool' that you don't have to pay for. It's EXACTLY like every other site out there, which diminishes one of the greatest aspects of its' appeal. Whatever happened to clicking the kissing buttons for valentines day, anyways? That was kind of fun. :

I have only been on Gaia a couple months or so, but I can't participate in any of the events or buy evolving items because I don't have Gaia cash. (I convinced my parents to buy me Silver Laurels, but their tolerance for paying for Gaia stuff ended there.)
Seriously, it sounds cool that there was a time when you didn't have to pay for all the good stuff. I wish I had been on Gaia then...
