Hello and welcome to PIKA. We're a newly formed cosplay group located in SoCal that you just became apart of!

How this works is our group is divided into 3 different Cosplay teams, all located in 3 different areas of SoCal. This ensures that every member can meet up with a team, and cuts down on the issue of distance. Each team has an Officer. The Officers duty is to organize group activities, meetups, to maintain a friendly environment in their team, and also ensure deadlines are met as far as the actual cosplaying comes.

The officers all fall under the Captains jurisdiction. The Captain's duty is to organize group events, ensure all the teams and officers are productive and maintaining a healthy relationship, and to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Cosplay team info:
Cosplay team 1:Located in San diego, officer is Dreamlights
Cosplay team 2:Located in between San diego and Los Angeles, officer is M00fin__girl
Cosplay team 3:Located in manhattan beach 15 minutes from the LA convention center, officer is some ch1nk

The groups captain is Pleurer ou imiter and she is located in Northridge.
(She will be attending all the team meetings, however cosplay team 3 is officially the team she is in based on location.)

If you are no where near any of these teams, PM me and I can offer a solution for you.

Joining the guild is just half the process. If you don't want to meet up and cosplay with the group in real life and just are here for the forums, stop reading please, this doesn't apply to you. However if you want to meet new friends, create awesome group cosplays, and even perform in masq, then keep on reading my friend.

Based on your location, you should apply to the nearest team to you. How do you do this? Simply go to the forum with the team your interested listed as the title. There you will find an application thread. Simply fill out the application on the forum and wait. If you don't get accepted the first time, don't get upset! Keep working on your cosplays and try again in 2 weeks, if your progress shows, your chance of getting in will double.

What is required to be apart of a team?
Sewing experience (This only applies if you wish to be in masq. Bought costume's are forbidden to participate in. However if you just want to cosplay with us, you don't at all have to make your own costumes : 3 )
Ability to make it to at least 75% of the team meetings/sewing parties
Ability to create good if not great cosplays
Performing ability, and or technical skills(Optional but required if you apply to be apart of masq skit)

What the heck is a sewing party?!
We know it can be tough to finish up those gorgeous costumes. It also can be nearly impossible to find that right fabric or material to create that sexy prop and or costume. That's why at PIKA we every so often will throw together a sewing party! Mix together tons of snacks, a room full of sewing machines/needles and thread, give people the opportunity to bring old unneeded fabric to swap out for some new needed fabric, and limitless supplies of PCP piping and you have progress! This also is a great environment for newbies to sewing, to get lessons from the veterans of the group.

A guide to the forums
Group Event forum; A place where all the meet ups, activities and sewing parties will be posted.
Cosplay Help and Progress forum; For help on your cosplay costumes, or to post progress shoots and tutorials visit the Cosplay Help and Progress forum.
Suggestion and Q&A forum; To submit suggestions or complaints about the group or guild visit the Suggestion and Q&A forum.
Post your Pictures forum; To post pictures of yourself, in cosplay or not, or to simply post "best and worst cosplay" threads, go to the PyP thread.
Convention forum; Post gatherings, information on upcoming conventions, photo's/video's taken at conventions, and AMV's in this forum.
General Discussion forum; Discuss all things non convention and cosplay related here.
Introduction and Hangout forum; A place to make your personal introduction to the guild, become introduced to the guild, and create hang out threads if you desire.
Artist Alley forum; Sell, post to get critiques, and buy art from the members here.
Masquerade Production forum; Where members can post ideas, and scripts, and the guild will vote and gather resources to the creation of a masquerade skit.
Cosplay team forums; Each individual forum is for each of the 3 teams. Information regarding meet ups for that team will be posted there, along with progress updates from the members of their costumes, photoshoots of the teams, and hangout threads/general discussion threads. Each officer is in charge of their own team forum.

How do I become apart of the Masq skit group?
It depends on what aspect of the skit you would like to be apart of.
All members are welcome to contribute thoughts and ideas at the Masquerade Production forum but actual participation in the final product requires you to be apart of the team . Once the material AKA script is announced concerning the decided skit, we begin auditions. Based on the characters, and what is required the audition will be open to all, but only those that meet the requirements will be considered.

For example lets say we decided on a skit involving snake from Metal Gear solid snake, Pikachu from Pokemon, and Cloud from Final fantasy 7 all beating the crap out of each other. We would first post the script on one thread where members are welcome to read over it and make suggestions.

Second we would cast people with stage combat experieance, or people who are capable of looking like they have stage combat experiance, and who look the part, voice acting ability would be optional. We would then cast people who sound like the part if the already hired performers don't.

From there we assemble a technical crew. To be apart of the technical crew all that is required is a voice editing program and the ability to edit sound effects in and burn the final product onto a disk.

Once all of these componates are formed, we begin construction of the props, costumes, and set potentially while the performers rehearse coordinating with the technical crew.

The construction crew is a volunteer position, and anyone with the want to help out can join.

But the first step to all this is to become apart of a team. Allthough exceptians can be made.

How would I audition for the masq skit?
One of two ways. When the material is picked each team will have a meeting where auditions will take place for those who would want to audition. If for any reason you can't make it to one of the team auditions, you can videotape your audition and post it on the groups youtube channel. All the auditions from the meeting will be posted on the groups youtube channel anyways so all the members can watch and vote.

Great introduction video, you're so unbelievably gorgeous! I will check out the comic right now though sounds right up my alley in humor. I hope you do come back to cali, I used to be in a pop locking dance crew at my college and with our powers of dance combinedddd (lol nerdy refference) we could probably come up with some awesome dances together maybe for masq!

Btw I kept see you around the guild and I've been wanting to tell you lmao. you have a picture of me cosplaying in your sig for the SD guild advertisment.

YES! You will love it. The Guild is one of my favorite things ever. ANd the episodes are like 5-7 minutes long. You watch a few and next thin you know there goes an hour. eek It's just like playing online. And thank you, but believe me it's the make-up. xp

Yeah that's you. LOL! I invited you to the SD Cosplayers and I used you as my model. I think it turned out rather well for someone who only used paint. wink

HAHAHA!! xd They do!! That's funny. whee

I really want to move back to San Diego!! It's killing me! Although I've never cosplayed before I would still love to join one of the groups. I don't have exact experience as game or manga characters but I've been on stage a lot in costume and I've been performing for a long time. smile

XD I know I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that!

When are you moving back? Maybe if you talk to dreamlights she can let you on her team so when you do move back you can tag along and cosplay with us. Stage experience will come in handy for masq. And while your away we can still all give you tips on cosplaying over the guild to practice on so by the time your back in SD you'll be an epic cosplayer!

Well I applied to a couple of colleges out there and I'm waiting to see if I'm accepted. I'm pretty sure I will be but it depends on how much money I have for scholarships and financial aid, all that good stuff. However, if I'm accepted to my first choice I will be going there. I do love conventions and cosplaying but my education is the most important. 3nodding I'll find out if I'm officially moving back around April. And if I am then I will totally apply for the San Diego Team!! blaugh

I tried to upload a video (twice too!), but after it said "finished" it simply never showed up.
So I gave up xD

@dream: its probably because mostly its because its too long cause i think the new rule was that the video had to be under 10 minutes if not then maybe the format? but check the time limit first im pretty sure that might be what's preventing you from uploading~
