Significant Reaction xxxNostipher, a planet that now lays in waste and ruin. Its inhabitants are of a dying species, using all of their resources for war and pointless killing. Long have they searched for another home, one ripe with minerals and life, one they can strip clean to further their battles even more. The land of Knole had finally developed a machine, based off of ancient technologies to travel between worlds, and it took little time for them to find Earth. It wouldn’t take long before they began their invasion.
xxxThe machine was imperfect however, something that the Knoleas had found out from their first wave. Once they exited, they were no longer well equipped warriors, but savage beast that had mutated with their weapons and armor. These creatures, which humans began to call Voids, were much stronger, faster, and were more bloodthirsty than humans. Yet those that encounters these creatures and lived had their DNA altered, either giving them a powerful gift, or a dangerous curse.
xxxAs human nature took its role, they began to study this process, and attempted to make soldiers that could possibly combat the Voids. Though they had succeeded, some of the patients felt themselves to be better than both the Voids and the humans, deciding to use their new found abilities for their own purposes. It didn’t take long for the derogatory term “Avid” to arise, the term supposedly arising when a child mistook one of advanced humans to be one of the Void, and poorly pronounced it so when the man killed his parents.
xxxThe year is 2010, the humans are losing the battle, the Avid in a constant struggle of power, while the Voids continue to slaughter all in their path. The true danger still lays behind the portal, attempting to figure out how to send their army without the harmful mutations. Yet it seems every time they work on it, it makes the soldiers even more massive and mutated. Only time will tell what the outcome will be.

Rules 1. This is a modern fantasy, so feel free to combine things like "Species: Avid. Elf like appearance." with "Weapons: Sniper rifle." 2. This is a semi-lit roleplay, please attempt to keep your posts readable and workable. (No one liners... ever.) 3. There are currently three sides to this war; Humans, Voids, Avids. Voids cannot be played, as they are savage like, caring more for food than actual thought. 4. If you would like to leave the roleplay, be sure to have your character either die or disappear. And do try to give notice to any prolonged absences. (I realize that I fail at this, but I'm trying to fix that.) 5. Romance is not encouraged, but acceptable. People fall in love, just don't rule out the dangers of the current situation. (Under any circumstances is there to be any cybering. Gaia ToS forbids it, so do I.) 6. Keep to basic roleplaying "No" rules of: No godmoding, no auto hitting, etc. 7. If you're bored, create encounters, make it fun. Most certainly have fun. 8. Any questions? I'm missing rules? Someone is breaking rules? PM me.

✝¨‘°ºO Ҁʀѳʂʂ Oº°‘¨✝xxxIt was that time again for Cross, he was out of money and food. He had been able to survive a whole month without having to steal, but now he had no choice. His stomach growled once more to remind him that he should spend less time thinking and more time getting money for food.
xxxAs he stepped into the small corner market, people started to panic, realizing that something was amiss. They fumbled around, trying to find themselves. Meanwhile, Cross began to take all the food he could fit in his bag. The stuff wasn't healthy, but they were high in calories, and he needed the energy. It wasn't until he grabbed some stuff to drink that he went to the register and snatched all the large bills that were in it.
xxxOnce Cross exited the store, the people within began to regain themselves and noticed what had happened, the teller instantly going for the phone to notify the police of the robbery. It would be an interesting tale to hear about how no one was able to see any of the crime while four civilians were present, yet Cross was too busy scarfing down a danish and chugging down a water. He wasn't proud to be a thief, but he was happy to finally be able to eat before he begins his hunt for more Voids.((short first post... but i really want to get this started))

Rajekki had been wandering the streets, hidden by a thick black cloak with the hood draped over her face. She often wore the cloak to hide who she was, and for good reason. She was one of those who had been genetically manipulated to fight the Void, but the results were far from what the genetic engineers had expected. She had...adjusted...the experimental DNA before the operation to become what she wanted. As a result, she had been expelled from the project (codenamed Operation: Evolution) after being branded with a permanent mark showing her to be an Avid. She could not return to normal society as she was, and Operation: Evolution would no longer accept her. She needed to find a way to survive, and she did. She made herself a cloak of dark energy and never let anyone see what she really was.
As she was wandering, she passed a store whose occupants seemed to be in panic. The clerk was on the phone, presumably with the police. Nothing seemed to be wrong, although the shelves did seem to be somewhat emptier than you might expect. She ignored the situation and continued to slowly trudge along. ((is this a good post?))

✝¨‘°ºO Ҁʀѳʂʂ Oº°‘¨✝xxxThe food was doing much more than Cross had initially expected. He could actually feel the energy flow through him, it was a pleasant feeling for someone who had been so tired and hungry lately, both of which were now gone. Though he felt bad about having to steal to obtain such a satisfying result, he knew it could not be helped, at least not yet.
xxxThe town was heavily militarized, the Voids were supposivly on their way to this town, which was half the reason why Cross was here himself. He was hoping to atone for his recent crime by helping the soldiers fight the vile beasts. Stopping to watch some of the heavily armed and armored soldiers walk by, Cross couldn't help but be jealous of them, being able to fight the Voids and be paid doing so. He let out a small sigh before swallowing down some more water. It was to be expected, he figured, for humans to fear what they do not understand. That also made him wonder if any Avids were among them. The Avids determined useful were often allowed to join the military to defend against the Voids. He had once hoped to be one of them, but he was detemined useless by numerous tests before even Cross knew what he could do. Now he was sure he would he useful if they would give him another chance.
((that's fine. Thank you))

A small group of soldiers passed by Rajekki, ignoring her completely. She watched them go, wondering why they would be here. She was not aware of any Void in the area, and soldiers don't generally patrol cities with such heavy weaponry. She looked around for anything that might give a clue to their presence, but the only thing she saw was someone watching the soldiers with a look of longing on his face. She watched him drink some water from a bottle, then wandered over to him and attempted to start a conversation.
"I noticed you watching those soldiers. Do you know why they would be so heavily armed? I haven't noticed any Void presence around here." she seemed to be looking downward as she spoke, her hood still covering her face.
((If I need to correct a post, let me know and I will))

Shari XXXShari, huddled in the small, dark, cold alley, watched the two in front of her. She was close enough that she could almost touch the man, but she remained in shadow, the dark cloak wrapped against the chill wind that somehow penetrated the shallow alley. She had made the alley her home a couple days ago, and since then, she had not eaten. Her last meal, indeed, her last glimpse of what used to be humanity, was when a young boy had given her an apple. It was a small gesture, but it instilled in her a hope for man kind. Hope that they could defeat these Void's, and come to accept the Avid's that did not wish to fight.
XXXHer stomach interrupted her thoughts, growling at the smell of food the man had eaten just moments before. She huddled back deeper into the small alley, for in the quiet, still air, she was almost certain that one of them had heard it, as it had come at the most wrong time, right after the last sounds of the clash of armor and weapons had faded from the soldiers. She had not been accepted readily in any of the places she had been and did not dare to hope that this time would be any different.

A small sound came from the alley the two were standing next to. Rajekki peered into the dark alleyway and listened for movement. Hearing nothing, she sniffed the air a couple of times. She smelled a female, lonely and hungry. Rajekki also recognized the distinct smell of fear.
"Is anyone there? I won't hurt you. I can give you food, and you seem like you could use it."

✝¨‘°ºO Ҁʀѳʂʂ Oº°‘¨✝xxxIt took a while for Cross to come back to reality, the thing that he had most often avoided as of late. Turning about to notice the girl peer into an allyway, speaking to something or someone else. Trying to remember what the girl had asked him before, so he could answer her, it occured to him to also see what was in the allyway. Flipping his flashlight in the air for a brief moment, he illuminated the ally, something that was well beyond the capabilities of a normal flashlight if any would know better.
xxxThat was when he saw another girl, looking just as fatigued and hungry as he was moments ago. Figuring that he would have to rob another store eventually, he tossed his backpack full of foods and drink into the ally as he had just remembered the inquiry from earlier. Turning off his flashlight, figuring it wasn't needed anymore, he twirled it, then holstered it back into it's pouch on his belt.
xxxCross combed his hair back with his fingers as he worded the answer within his mind. Once finished he finally responded, "The military's here because this town is a likely target for a Voids assault." Trying to remember what he had heard one the radio within one of the camps he stayed in earlier, "The city twenty mile from here is the latest ground zero..." That was also when he started to remember his hometown once more, remembering what it looked like after the Voids' attack. His face became sullen, and his eyes lost the glimmer that were once occupying them. Cross' breathing became shallow for a moment before he once again snapped back into reality.

Shari XXXShari flinched from the girl, huddling deeper into the corner, unmoving. She tried flinching even further from the light that the man shined in, but found herself against the wall. In the light, her eyes shone a fearful black, the pupil undetected. As he tossed the bag to her, she came forward slightly, first she grabbed a water, downing it down in moments. She knew it wasn't healthy to do so, but she was thirsty damnit. After she downed the first one, she pulled out another, but stopped. She finally caught herself, realizing how animal-like she was acting. She hadn't said a single words, to either of these helpful people.
XXXAs soon as she realized this, she picked up the bag, standing. She shuffled forward slowly, head turned down. As she drew even with Cross, her head was about at his shoulder. She set the bag down at his feet, and her stomach once more interjected it's opinion, loudly, as the bag settled on the ground. "Th- Thank you, sir, but you will need this later, much more then I do now." Her voice was rough, not having been used for awhile.

✝¨‘°ºO Ҁʀѳʂʂ Oº°‘¨✝xxxCross was surprises of the eagerness of the girl after being so reluctant earlier. The way she drank was that more of an animal than an actual human. But what he found interesting, yet finally noticed, was her eyes. It was now obvious that she was an Avid. More than likely one that couldn't survive as easily as he without drawing attention to herself. He did his best not to stare, but to be honest, he found her intriguing now that he he knew that she was definitly Avid.
xxxThen he was surprised once more when she went over to him weakly, as it appeared to him, with his bag. She was rejecting his generosity with hopes of his good health. "Don't need it, can buy more later." Cross then flashed at least four hundred dollars, it was stolen of course, but it was still money. After tucking it back into his pocket, Cross began to walk away, he wanted dibs on the first strike at the Voids. He figured that if she still refused the food it would just rot outside of the ally that she had probably branded as home now. He did look back once though, once again staring at her eyes, curious of what she could do.
((sorry it's short, I'm doing this through iPhone so it's kinda hard))
