_____Robin glanced significantly behind her shoulder looking at Andrew. He was running after her, getting closer and closer. Robin was usually self-assurance about things, but not anymore. Now she was afraid. Robin was scared to meet him face to face in a sword fight. If she slashes or worse kills Andrew, she wouldn’t forgive herself as the king’s daughter. But if she surrenders to Andrew without a fight, she wouldn’t forgive herself as an outlaw. Either one will come true, if fate hasn’t decided it differently. Andrew, who only thought about Robin’s behavior on my lady, wanted to assassinate Robin Wood, with his sword. Robin looked once again behind her and swallowed. She gathered the rest of her confidence and came to a halt. Andrew was surprised and stopped a few meters away.
"Sir Andrew Lionheart, I presume?" Robin said calmly, although her confidence was smaller then ever. Andrew shook his fist and calmly replied back:
"Yes, I'm Andrew Lionheart. And you are the Robin Wood, I presume?"
Robin couldn’t look at Andrew's eyes. The anger in his eyes was strong, she felt it. Robin was ashamed, because she had circulated the rumor about her and Robin Wood. But she didn’t know that it had a strong influence on Andrew.
"Yes I am." Robin replied to Andrew's question. "I do not want to fight against you, as my lady asked me not to."
Andrew opened his fist as he heard that my lady cared about him, even a little bit.
"Although it would not matter now," Andrew noticed to himself, while pulling out his sword. "You are my competitor, so you are my opponent."
"You are going to fight with me, though my lady asked the otherwise?" Robin wondered. "I won’t pull my sword against you."
"You must be very smart guy," Andrew muttered mostly to himself. Robin turned towards Andrew bringing out her eyes under her hat.
"That I will leave others to decide," she said quietly calm. "But since you followed me here, let me apologize." Robin bowing in front of Andrew, Andrew's face shocked from the word apology.
"Are you crazy when you say that?" Andrew snapped.
"Now you read me wrong," Robin replied while raising her head, which at that moment occurred at the light, creating a silver tinge to her hair. "I apologize, in case I am not able to beat you. My lady and I had so much in common. " Andrew listened furiously, how Robin felt self-pity on himself and about that he had already hurt my lady's feelings.
"So I repeat my apologies, and then we fight from our honor!" Robin said this as she raised her sword. Agitation had brought the blood to her head.
_____The moon had risen over the dueling place. Andrew held his sword ready, waiting on Robin’s movement.
If I die now, Robin thought. I am so happy that I die at his hands. Robin ran towards Andrew while holding her sword, but Andrew saw the attack and slashed a small wound to Robin's cheek. Robin didn’t care for her pain; she struck her sword against Andrew’s sword, pushing herself face to face with Andrew.
"You don't know how lucky you are!" Robin exclaimed, pushing her sword. "She is quite a catch."
"You mean lady Goodfaith?" Andrew asked. "Now you made me more furious!"
"I'm not going to lose." Robin shouted and drew her sword away. "Something in her got me interested even more about her."
"Keep your mouth shut!" Andrew yelled and struck his sword against Robin’s sword. "You cannot know how much I suffer for her sake!"
"Suffering is nothing compared to what I feel for her!" Robin raised her voice and smacked Andrews’s sword from his hand with her own sword, throwing it on the ground. "Now therefore, if you will forgive me..." Andrew stared angrily when Robin turned his back on him. Andrew ran to his sword and showed it towards Robin.
"Turn around, you outlaw," Andrew shouted. "Or else I must impale you from behind!"
"The battle is over," Robin said softly and continued to walk away. Andrew was still raged. He rushed towards Robin and slashed. Robin spotted the attack in time and jumped away from the blades path. Somehow, she just guessed that Andrew was trying to produce.., Robin sighed deeply and slashed Andrews sleeve with her sword.
"You always try to surprise me." Robin said. "Always trying new ways to assassinate me." Andrew squeezed his swords handle. Something disturbed his concentration. He just didn’t know what.
_____Andrew's heart beat strongly, but not out of fear. The reason that his heart beat faster and stronger, it was the idea of lady Goodfaiths face. That was the reason he fought. He struck his sword against Robins sword. He fought against Robin as enraged tiger, circled around the enemy and constantly varied places. Robin had a full work to protect herself, even though she was good to be a woman. She had, however, difficult to attack against Andrew. She felt as if Andrew would be attacking simultaneously from each direction, but this does not prevent him from evading Robin's attacks, which clearly showed that he appreciated his life. Robin decided to make it at the end. He headed to Andrew gruesome attack, believing that would end the battle, but Andrew skillfully avoided the attack and slipped smoothly under Robin’s sword and with his own sword, he slashed Robins torso.
_____Fortunately for Robin, but also unfortunately, Andrew had cut her shirt open. Robin fell to her knees in terror dropping her sword. Andrew looked at the cut he had made and found that Robin wasn’t bleeding. Robin covered her chest with her hands. Andrew put his sword back to its holster and tried to remove Robin’s hands off of her chest. He wanted to see the injury. But Robin stood up and hit Andrew’s face with her fist. Andrew swept his face and rushed towards Robin full of rage. But Robin just gave way to the road and struck again, this time behind Andrew. Her expression didn’t even move. Andrew turned and looked at Robin’s eyes. At first Andrew felt pity for Robin, but then he remembered the purpose of the fight again. He stood up and rushed towards Robin. He pushed Robin down on the ground and held Robins hands on their place. Andrew held Robin on place, no matter how much Robin fought against it. Robin didn’t notice how a sharp stone was scratching her hair ribbon in half, while she tried to get free from Andrew's grip. Only one small piece of thread held Robin’s hair. Robin clutched tightly on Andrews shirt and rolled them both around. Now Robin was on top of Andrew. She breathed heavily, she was tired from the battle. Her hat lay on the ground, when Robin rolled around. Andrew also breathed heavily.., he felt the bitter taste of defeat in his mouth. He had betrayed lady Goodfaith.
_____Robin brought her fist for one more attack, but her hair ribbon broke. Robin's hair spread down on her shoulders and back. Robin saw her shadow and quickly got up and stepped back against the tree. Andrew stared at how Robin stepped back in terror. He seemed different. Robin’s shirt, the incision was larger. Under her shirt revealed a tight cloth around her chest. Her curly hair was now on her shoulders length. When Andrew saw Robin's face, he was shocked and stared at his opponent. He wanted to kill the man, but was confronted with a woman.
No .. He cannot be ..! Andrew thought. Did I try to kill the King's daughter? The woman that I love!? He looked at Robin's face which was stiff from fright, he slowly approached her. Robin got up and took her shoulder cape off, then her shirt, then dropped them on the ground. She was ashamed to tell the man she loved, that she was that outlaw, who helped the King’s people without anyone knowing. Robin was so tired that she fell to the ground leaning against a tree.
It's true.., Andrew thought. Robin Wood is Robin Goodfaith. He knelt in front of Robin and lifted her face with his hand. Robin shoved Andrew away, tears in her eyes.
She's crying.., Andrew thought. Because of me? Why?
"Do not come any closer!" Robin yelled. "Stay away from me!"
Andrew didn’t listen, he tried to look into Robin's eyes, but Robin turned her eyes away. She was going to escape. Andrew rose up and looked at Robin.
I still cannot believe this.., he thought. I just wanted to protect her from the enemy, but she was the enemy.
"Why Robin ..?" He asked quietly.
"Oh, why? Why!?" Robin yelled as she wiped her tears. "If you yet haven’t seen, that the Lord is terrorizing the people to pay taxes behind my father’s back!" Andrew saw anger in Robin’s eyes. Something had changed.
"Lord Canalwood plans to take every coin he can find!" Robin continued to rage. "So, I will protect the people, even if it kills me!" Andrew listened to those words carefully. So gentle, yet so beautiful wanted to protect the people with her life.
"Nobody can prevent me from doing my job!" Robin raged. "Not even you.." Robin turned around and was going to flee. Andrew wasn’t going to allow that to happen. He grabbed Robin’s wrist and wouldn’t let go.
"Let go, Andrew!" Robin exclaimed. "You cannot stop my destiny!" Robin tried to get her arm off of Andrew's grip.
"Andrew! You cannot stop me!" Robin exclaimed, with tears in her eyes. "Fate decided that."
"If you say that one more time," Andrew shouted. "I won’t let you go.." Robin looked at Andrew's face. His brown hair were in front of his eyes.
"Andrew ..." Robin said quietly. "I wish I could do otherwise ..." Andrew still held Robins hand. Robin tried to get out of it. She didn’t want to danger Andrews squire studies. Just when Robin got free, Andrew pulled himself against Robin. Robin and Andrew looked at each other. Andrew hold Robins arms. He had something in his mind.
"Hey!" Robin screamed. "What are you doing..!" But Robin couldn’t end her sentence, because Andrew made her silent. He was kissing Robin. Robin felt weak. She somehow knew that Andrew felt the same way for her. Fate was certainly lacking in the game. Robin closed her eyes and replied to the kiss. She felt how Andrew let go of her. Robin placed her arms around Andrews neck and didn’t want to let go.
Unbelievable! After all these years my wish is now a reality. Robin thought. But is this a dream? Now, if I let go, will I wake up in bed? Neither of them didn’t know whether this was a dream or reality, but both were on top of the world. There was nothing to shatter the foundations of this love.
_____In the meantime, Jenny and Kathryn had left the ball on Jenny’s request. Jenny was worried about Robin.
"I wonder if Robin is alright?" Shela said leaping from branch to another. "That Andrew is a furious type of guy." That was the same thing Jenny was worried about. Andrew had vowed to murder the guy who would harm my lady. Shi-Ta look at Hope, which was also concerned about my lady. If it was too late, then Jenny and Hope would blame themselves for Robins death. However, Jenny tried to be a positive with the issue. If Robin revealed her secret to Andrew, Andrew couldn’t raise his sword against Robin. Well, that was she thought. Kathryn was wondering about the bond between Hope and Robin. They were best friends, just like Jenny and Kathryn.
"Robin? Robin!?" Jenny yelled. “Robin, answer me!"
"Shi-Ta, stay here!" Shela exclaimed. "I'll go ahead!"
_____But, Andrew heard them, he just didn’t want to let go of Robin. Robin backed away, but still close to Andrew. She opened her eyes and raised her hand on Andrews’s cheek. Robin looked Andrew's eyes, even though their faces were quite close to each other. She kissed Andrew yet again and then backed away completely.
"Andrew ..," she said, unwilling to escape from Andrew. "You know, that you will get arrested if you're with me," Where on earth those words came from? Really, she was going to say something completely different.., Andrew just laughed as a response and swept the hair away from Robin’s face.
"In that case..," He said softly and kissed Robin again, but quickly dropped out and went further: "I'll take that risk." Thereafter, he didn’t say anything, neither of them said. Robin stepped back from Andrew, took a new shirt and a new hair ribbon from a hollow tree. She put on her shirt and poured out her hair tied up. She even put her cape on and her hat on her head.
"My room is always open to you." She said, turning her back to Andrew. "I trust you with my secret." Andrew looked how Robin went into the darkness of the forest.
That woman cannot defeated... He thought. By no one..!
