Name: Minh Thu Nguyen Meaning: Minh = Bright, Thu = Autumn, Nguyen = Origin Sex: Male Age: 25 Ethnicity: Vietnamese
Hair: Black; ends to neck and spiky Eyes: Dark brown with light brown flecks Skin: Light tan Build: 5'10", lanky and slightly muscular Wardrobe: Simple; consists of lots of graphic tees and jackets Accessories: Black, thin-framed glasses
Likes: art, colors, apples, scenery, intriguing things, animals, children Dislikes: getting dirty (so troublesome), nuts, dim lighting, constant regularity Hobbies: Photography - Minh's father liked photography, and Minh picked up on the hobby. He takes pictures of anything and everything, ranging from scenery to animals to humans to random items thrown together. He uses a variety of cameras that range from old to new. A particular favorite of his is the ready-to-fall-apart-because-it's-so-ancient camera that uses film. However, the camera he most often uses are the ones that appear to be contacts (all functions are controlled by the brain, viola!). Exploring - He likes to explore things, whether that be literal unknown locations or trying out new activities and meeting new people. The main motive behind this is Minh's want to find new things to take pictures of. Although one can create many different pictures with the same object, he finds it more interesting to find multiple objects to photograph. Collecting - Minh likes to collect random items that catch his eye, mainly mementos of interesting events, people, or places he's encountered. There're so many things in his house that it's obvious that the man is bit of a pack rat. As long as he can find the essentials with ease though, he doesn't mind.
Virtues: Take it easy now – Minh is a firm believer of being relaxed and unstressed. Being stressed or panicked will do people no good; they’ll just be hurting themselves. That’s why he’s laidback and easygoing, much more so than most people. He doesn’t worry about the important details. So what if the deadline for that project is coming up? He’ll get it done, don’t you stress. Are you worrying about that person you like again? Take a chill pill, seriously. Say what you feel – Some people are notorious liars, but Minh is not. Although it is impossible to never tell a lie, Minh tries to tell as few as he can. If he thinks what someone is doing is wrong, he’ll say it. If someone is making Minh angry, he’ll tell them. His belief is that honesty is the simplest way to clear confusion, problems, and miscommunication. If you ask for his opinion, he’ll due his best not to sugarcoat it. The simple things in life – It doesn’t take much to make Minh happy. He takes what he can get and is satisfied with that. Minh may not be living the most luxurious life, but that’s alright with him. As long as he can make the best of it, it’s alright. Although it would be nice to have more, it’s not necessary. Small acts of kindness and a few luxurious items are enough to satisfy him. I’ll treasure it – He is always grateful when people do things for him. Minh will always remember to say “please” and “thank you” when the situation calls for it. Even an act as simple as opening the door for him earns the person a sincere thank you. Presents given to him are properly taken care of and unlike most of the mementos he keeps, kept in a special, organized room where he can find it easily.
Flaws: Take it easy now – Minh’s an easygoing guy, but he’s a bit too easygoing. It’s difficult to get the man to be completely serious. Sure, he turns in his assignments on time and when he says he’s going to be somewhere, he’ll be there (a couple hours later . . .), but doesn’t usually put his heart into them. If asked to give advice, it’s not very in-depth and quite superficial. Perhaps the one thing he’s always focused and completely serious about is photography. However, the things that really perk his interest will make him become more serious and determined. Sorry, I wasn’t listening – It comes as no surprise when people notice that Minh isn’t the best listener around. His eyes are always trained on something else and he’ll later say that it was because it would make a perfect shot to add to his photo collection. Getting him to focus is a bit difficult, so his attention isn’t held for long unless one supervises him. Saw it, but won’t say anything – Despite his relaxed nature, Minh does notice things. He’ll notice a friend acting odd or if something may be afoot at his work. Will he say anything about it? No, not really. Minh may inquire about it, but after that he won’t bother the problem anymore. Most of the time, they’re issues that he deems to either be uninteresting or not very important, so he doesn’t pry very far. Plus, most of the time it leads to dark, serious dilemmas, something he’d rather avoid. What could one mistake do? – In most cases, Minh is careless. Although he has the potential to become someone hardworking and great, he instead chooses to be bit of a lazy bum. Oops, there’s a typo on his report. Oh well, it’s minor and they won’t notice, right? Did he fill it with exactly 100 mL of water? Looks good enough to him. Though the mistakes may be minor, they can potentially lead to something more dangerous.
History: Pre-war Minh was born to Duong Thu and Hoa Phuong Thu. Born and raised in the city of Saigon! Ho Chi Minh City, he is a city boy through and through. He is most at ease in loud, bustling settings, but can find solace in quieter, tranquil places. For most of his childhood Minh was raised in Viet Nam until a rapidly-mutating virus swept through the country, including his mother. Scientists eventually found a cure to the disease, but at the age of fourteen Minh was now left motherless.
It was a devastating blow to both father and son. Though Duong managed to remain strong, Minh was different. He became more rebellious and angst-ridden. Though his mother had taught him to be optimistic and become stronger through the hardships that he survives, recovery was still incredibly difficult. [ It would be a year later until Minh managed to accept his loss and move on with life. ]
Decide that a new change in scenery was beneficial, Duong and Minh relocated to Saltaire since they had a few relatives there. The two lived near Duong’s sister and her husband. Both were kind and sympathetic to their situation. As Duong worked for the government as a spy he could not be with Minh as often as he would have liked. Instead, Minh’s aunt and uncle served to provide the boy with a positive, loving environment that he desperately needed. Now that he is a young adult he meets up with his father often and is close, but admits that he is also pretty close with his aunt and uncle.
From a young age Minh found peace in taking pictures of things. It could be anything. A bird. A person. A cool-looking rock. The very idea of creating the “perfect” picture through the use of angle, colors, and other aspects of art thrilled him. Though his personality may have changed drastically or subtly over the years, the one thing that has remained the same is his attitude toward photography. He takes it seriously and has a talent for it.
Post-war It comes as no surprise that Minh has become a professional photographer. He officially works as a news photographer, but also secretly takes on other occasional jobs, such as for other smaller companies. Minh can also be hired by those that want to utilize his skills for information gathering. Most of his under-the-table tasks are the same thing: take blackmail pictures. They can range from trying to catch a spouse cheating to gathering incriminating pictures of a rival enemy to other things. He hides his riches by hiding them under the floorboards of his house.

Species: Brachycephalus ephippium Common Name: Pumpkin Toadlet Picture(s): one two
General Information: Quote: Brachycephalus ephippium is a small frog with adults ranging from 12.5 mm to 19.7 mm in snout-vent length. Although tiny, it has a robust body, with short legs. The skin color is bright yellow to orange. The iris is completely black. Digit number is reduced, with three fingers and three functional toes. Phalanges are also reduced, in both number and size, so that fingers and toes are both shorter and smaller. The terminal phalanges are T-shaped. A dermal bony shield is present and ossified dorsal to the backbone. No teeth are present on the maxillary or premaxillaries. (Pombal, 2003).
Quote: These frogs are diurnal during the rainy season. Generally they walk about on the leaf litter, but will find a low perch if the humidity approaches 100%. They clean themselves by wiping their head and body with their limbs. During the dry season, they remain under logs or leaf litter (Pombal, 2003). Males are highly territorial during the rainy season. When another frog approaches, the male frog signals both by vocalization and by moving an arm up and down in front of its own eye. If the intruder is a male and remains, the male frog embraces and wrestles the intruder, pushing it away. Presentation of mirrors to male frogs elicited visual displays in almost all cases, and rarely, attacks, but no vocalizations. Presentation of mirrors to two female frogs resulted in a visual display by one of the females (Pombal et al., 1994). Breeding takes place during the rainy season. Advertisement calls consist of a continuous series of buzzes lasting two to six minutes. The call begins with the first notes having five or six pulses, and ending with notes that have as many as fifteen pulses. However, most of the notes have ten pulses and an almost constant pitch. Calling males elevate their body, displaying a "high posture". Visual signals may be more important than vocal signals in this species since the vocalization appears to be softer in volume than background environmental noise (Pombal et al., 1994). The male grasps the female and walks behind her as she selects a site for egg deposition in the leaf litter or under a log. Initially amplexus is inguinal (around the waist), with the male then moving forward and changing to an almost axillary position (just below the armpits). Females lay up to five large, yellowish white eggs over a period of about half an hour. When the males leave the mating site, the females roll the eggs about using their hind feet. Dirt adheres to the egg surfaces, helping to camouflage them. The females then leave the eggs unattended. Development is direct (lacking the tadpole stage), with hatching of miniature toadlets occurring in about two months. The newly hatched toadlets still have a vestigial tail (Pombal, 2003). Pumpkin Toadlets are active foragers. The adult diet consists of small arthropods, primarily collembolans (springtails), but also including mites and insect larvae (Pombal, 2003).

You have a cool character, that's for sure. But he is kind of too cool for school. Almost like "He's SO dreamy...what's the catch?" but without the catch, which makes Minh a little unbelievable. He grew up in a time of war and has a mother who died, there should be some sort of personality flaw that stems from that or at least an explanation as to why there isn't.
Just need to make him multidimensional, good and bad. 3nodding
Prince crit: Keep in mind that those behaviors come from an owner who doesn't wear the pin close to their heart at all times~

He is a liiiittle bit too.. "Princely" to be for real XD And I would think that someone with his temperament would take good care of his Prince but from the traits you wanna give your pet, he'd have to be neglected quite a bit in egg stage.

Because he is too cool for school. No I'm kidding. xD
Edited him so he's not that relaxed (hopefully) and some more flaws. C:
Oops. His mother died when he was young. That's why. xD;; Added that in!
@Prince crit: Yeah, that sounds like forgetful Minh. xD
EDIT: Woah! Dju ninja'd me. xD
I see~ owo I shall think over my Prince then. I was going for a cute little temper mental brat. xD

Maybe you could make the owner sort of absent-minded? XD If you wanted a brat, that would mean that the owner sometimes forgot to wear the pin or something?

I do like Minh and the fact that he's from Vietnam -- and I like all your ideas, I do. One thing that I'm not very sure about it how he's rich? He's a chemist, that's what I heard. And I have no idea how he's going to afford a prince. But then again, I might have missed something D: sooo. Also, I find it hard to believe that he would be able to be so laidback and all that, especially when he grew up without a mother, and in a time where there was war. Even after your edits, I find it sorta cliche to be disorganized and not understanding people -- those aren't really bad things, and if you could think of something more original, like, if he's childish, then he treats people like a child or something more ... unique. Ah, also, I'd like to say that it's better to make a dramatic reaction and stuff to losing his mother than barely any at all.
As for good things -- I absolutely love his history. I love the idea of a mutating virus -- you managed to combine something somewhat new and I like his dad's job. It's cool. I like that you put photography into the situation, it makes him more unique.
I love the little froggy you picked -- pumpkin toadlet, it's so cute! I do agree with the others that a prince would only turn out like that if it was neglected, and I feel that if Minh got the chance to get one of these, even he would probably pay more attention to the Prince.

Obviously, coming up with a personality in a short period of time is not a smart idea. xD
I'll just use a personality I wrote up a while ago. C: I like it better too.
And to me, people with science/math jobs have pretty good salaries. The impression I get around my town, anyways. xD So yeah, chemist it was! Otherwise, inheritance or borrowing from Duong.
Ah~ I see. I'll rethink my Prince's personality then.
