Moved to Poland in early January 3105 and was married on February the 5th to Alice Kozwolski. Dimitrov had just turned 22 and Alice was 21. Their son, Siqmund Wolenty, was born December 30th of that year.
Sigmund had fallen ill. November 23rd 3106.
On January 3rd 3107 The Wolenty's young son was diagnosed with a recent strain of Valrhymer's syndrome- a bacterial infection from tainted water, the symptoms of which were respiratory distress, fever, muscle atrophy, and heart tremors. The tremors led to the weakening of the muscles of the heart, and atrophy eventually lead to heart attack- which could occur at any time.
Sigmund died of the disease 2 years later on October 28th 3109, two months and two days before he would have turned 4. Dimitrov and his wife relocated to Saltaire on December 3rd and moved into their new home on December 5th, a large townhouse on Riddler Lane.
After continuing his work from Warsaw on microbes, Dimitrov developed and patented his process of purifying water on February 3rd 3110. His company was launched June 3rd and the first branch opened on June 15st, Dimitrov was 27.
In the course of the following two years, 5 more branches were opened on the following dates: April 27th, July 13th, and November 18th 3111; May 3rd and August 29th 3112.
This brings us to present 3313. Dimitrov is 30 and still living in Saltaire. ■ ■ ■ ■ WORK■ ■ ■ ■ Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms and is, essentially, the study of tiny living things. Typically, this is of unicellular (organisms that consist of only one cell, rather than many cells like animals) such as bacteria, protozoa, and fungus. Microbiology includes several other factions in this area of study, such as virology, mycology, parasitology, and bacteriology. While Dimitrov is a microbiologist who specializes in no specific portion of the study, his personal forte is bacteriology. Within microbiology lies Dimirtov's work, Medical Microbiology and Industrial Microbiology. Medical being the affects of the microbes he uses in industry upon humans and animals. Most branches of microbiology include the immune system, human and otherwise, and the affects of viruses, germs and the like upon them.
Part of this is Dimitrov's work, as he has to be absolutely sure that the microbes he utilizes in the purification of water aren't pathogens that can harm humans, plants, or animals that they come in contact with. A species of Bacillamide, for instance, which Dimitrov bred from an SY-1 bacteria strain is effectively utilized as an algaecide but must be filtered out and/or killed with ultraviolet light. One other major bacterium is Deinococcus radiodurans which is highly resistant to radioactive materials and has been modified previously and perfected by Dimitrov to remove radioactive and nuclear wastes from drinking water. The same strain has potential to be utilized for environmental clean-up efforts, but has thus far gone unnoticed.
Dimitrov started his company with a government check and, very much like the debt system in 21st century America (The theory of American government that they pay their debtors only the interest they owe them so that whoever they owe money has an interest in the continuity of the American economy. If the economy goes, they would not get their interest nor their investment paid back.) and still owes the government money. Due to the government commission, it has lately become a necessity of Dimitrov's to smuggle away gold on the side. This is most definitely fraud but Dimitrov claims that he wouldn't have much to lose if he was caught as he would stand to gain if he wasn't.
One bacteria which turned up in Dimitrov's studies was Pseudomonas, a proteobacteria which was studied profusely in the early days of microbiology and much ignored in modern times. It was a highly important bacteriophage which was present in the production of rain and snow. Nuclear fallout had lead unusual dispersion of the bacteria and contributed to the highly unpredictable weather patterns the world experienced at this point.
The nearest branch of his company (Branch 1) 42 kilometers away and the next (Branch 3) 105 kilometers away. Dimitrov spends 2 days of every week out of town visiting one of the 4 branches not in driving distance and the rest of the week to one of the two closer branches or working in his personal lab. He has Sundays off. ■ ■ PERSONALITY■ ■ ■ ■ He's devoted himself to his company much too thoroughly and it has near permanently instilled the weariness he developed when Sigmund died. He tries to be cheerful as much as possible, and is a kind man, but because he is sad he is unable to console his wife. Dimitrov is just as distraught as his wife over the death of their son, but has found it taxing after so long to put up with Alice’s lasting and obvious pain. While he still cares for her and loves her, Dimitrov was a romantic man before they met and before their son’s death. Due to this he has, on more than one occasion, been unfaithful to his wife. All he desires is the happiness he and his family once shared, and due to this he tries to find it with others.
Has a bit of a good sense of humor and is very sympathetic, responsible, and dependable. Exceptional powers of concentration, and is organized and hard working. He tends to keep his lab in such a state of order that he can easily note anything being amiss, and everything there has a place, and even a place for new things that are in need of a permanent location. Dimitrov is a bit queer in his mannerisms. He often finds that most people don’t immediately grasp the reasoning behind his actions, as he often does things in such a way as to seem brash or even impatient, and yet is so serene in his movements and his labwork. Dimitrov has placed a thick boundary between work and his personal life. In a professional environment he is almost as he was before Sigmund died, quietly charming and diligent and very passionate about his work. He connects these feelings for his work with the reason for his son’s death. ■ ■ OTHER■ ■ ■ ■ Has a pet slime mold named Sam who lives in a rather large jar in his lab. Dimitrov has Rainbow Trout in his laboratory as well, because they're known to be sensitive to the cleanliness of water, and has grown rather fond of them. Would likely be the sort who acts very serious and really wants to be seen as mature, but would easily drop everything just to play in the mud. Thinks he needs permission for almost everything, and will continue to ask about things even when told that its unnecessary.
Fun Facts: The male Moor Frog may turn blue for up to 3 days during mating season. Rana Arvalis means, in latin, frog of the fields.Range.
Reasons: Dimitrov's desire for a prince stems from the loss of his son and his wife's long lasting grief. The couple have been unsuccessful in conceiving and a prince would likely be Dimitrov's last great effort to bring his wife back to him. The investment would mean a lot to him from both a personal and scientific standpoint.
