There's a lack of frothy pop music in this guild. I can't be the only Belle & Sebastian fan? Where are the twee and pop people?

No! not Twee nooooooo gonk I HATE that tag. It's one of those horrible genre 'names' NME comes up with. It's horrible! I think it's even worse than freak folk and shoegaze. I mean really, where does NME get such horrifying genre tags???

If we are talking indiepop I'm definitely a fan of The Decemberists and Blue Judy and The Unicorns.
Most of my indiepop though comes from big label stuff though. I'm a raging The Killers fan as well as an MGMT and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, The Fratellis, Passion Pit, The Shins, Franz Ferdinand etc.

But the word 'twee' is less ambiguous if you are referring to the Camera Obscura type of thing. Everyone knows what you're talking about when you use the word. Who cares what you call it anyway? It should be about how it sounds.

NME is a british music magazine known for over-hyping bands then bashing them and coming up with horrendous genre names. And twee just sounds terrible, indie pop is ambiguous, sure, but twee? It's a horrible name and ambiguous as well! Maybe not as much as indie pop, but I'd still rather use indie pop. Twee sounds like tween. :/

i miss when NME used to talk about good bands.. rather than hyping Muse or MCR every other week.
i love indie-pop (: i think The Boy Least Likely To would fit in this, their first album was cute :3 and maybe Belaire, and Apples In Stereo. and Casper & The Cookies :3

Stars falls under this category (not necessarily the twee), don't they? They make some of the most moving pop music. "One More Night" gives me goose bumps every time. I also love "Window Bird" and just a mess of their songs.
And Camera Obscura. cool
Could anyone recommend me some Belle & Sebastian for starters? I've passed them by all these years...

I was planning to get cheap Camera Obscura tix last week but missed out. Don't really care for them too much anyway. "Let's Get out of this Country" is a good album though
The Brunettes are pretty good. Saw them live last year to like a crowd of 100 people, which was pretty disappointing as they're a lot of fun live and really charming on stage
Pains of Being Pure at Heart count don't they? It was my favourite album of last year although its because it sounds exactly like early-MBV and Black Tambourine
