There are technically five editions of Dungeons and Dragons, starting with Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Advanced Dungeons and Dragon Second Edition, Dungeons and Dragons 3.0, Dungeons and Dragon 3.5, Dungeons and Dragons Fourth edition.
The game is complex, grueling, time consuming, addicting, and not for the weak of mind.
Welcome, what edition would you like to learn?
(Says the person who has trouble getting out of the habits of being Dungeon Master for four or so years long enough to enjoy playing without worrying over every little detail, and creates worlds, continents, items, and NPC's almost non-stop in his mind.)
Yes, welcome... Myself and a few others in the guild can teach you AD&D, most everyone can likely teach you 3.5.
And now I bet I have given the wrong impression and you think me insane, I can assure you however even if I might be slightly crazed; people still enjoy my campaigns. Most of the time at least.
Now drop and give me ten Magic Missiles!

For Alice, my Dear We're all mad here
said the Cheshire cat, and I'm quite certain that that applies not just to wonderland ^^
and I'd like to learn whatever version the guild uses most I guess xD Thank you for your hearty welcome though

You should do fine, for many strange things reside in the minds of those who would rise to the challenge of commanding armies of kobolds and goblins to wage wars with those who wish for glory and fame.
And you didn't take me for a lunatic, although my mood, thoughts, and ways of thinking change depending on what I'm reading and I read a lot and fast enough that I can easily throw people off balance with my bizarre shifts in wording and scenarios.
That would be 3.5, although a few have shown interest in AD&D, its hard to get that started when the guild leader (Kishi), myself, and possibly one or more are the only ones with books from the wonderful era of Dungeons and Dragons.
I suppose I could set up a training campaign... my styles shouldn't shift to much unless I start reading novels that are written in first person... although I might start adding strange flourishes of poetic writing at strange times. Eh, but usually when I get flashes of inspiration that happens anyways.
Well, if you will take me for a DM, I can set something up, I have several years experience and several members who are even in this guild that would probably say I can run a good campaign... I've even learned not to give level fours a Deck of Many Things... To many changes were made to that from AD&D to the 3.5 version.
Hmmm, a riddle might do, give me a moment and I'll post a riddle for you to ponder a bit over, and don't try looking the answer up online for it was made in the forges of my mind.
I share a mighty name, I fly about as the many colors I may be shine on the waters reflection. When I am hunted, I am hunted by few and mourned by fewer. What am I?
Gods, I must be really bored tonight to type most of that... comes from waiting on posts from players I guess.

I'm new too, but I have found that after re-reading the Player's Handbook, (mostly) everything made sense! :3
From what I've learned, I can only give you one pointer: Keep your weapons close and your 20d closer! *brick'ed*
I might lurk around this thread, if you don't mind...
I remember seeing a thread here that someone posted PDFs of all the books....

Specific game rules can be learned in a reletively short ammount of time, but I think there's one cardinal rule that sits above all others as a player; Just use your head, man. Anyone can play DnD as a dice game, but the interaction between players and the world the GM creates is what truly makes a good playing experience for everyone.

Guthwulf I'm happy to be in the guild, I want to learn D&D because boredom compels strange urges http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=18094767 You may now begin learning 3.5... Roll 4D6 six times, drop the lowest number on each set. http://www.myth-weavers.com/ Make an account there, start a D&D 3.5 character sheet, and assign each set to an ability score (stat). STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, CHA. You should probably look at classes before assigning stats however. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Classes Pick a base class. Now pick a Race; Dwarf Elf Half-elf Half-orc Halfling Human Gnome Each has stat adjustments.
