So there I was doing my best Homer impersonation in front of the telly, the remote just outta reach....

And there was Prime Minister CandyMan (cos he mixes his politics with love, that's why it tastes so good) talking about how Australia will need to increase its productivity into the next 40 years. The glib comment from the panel about the heretical talk just before Australia Day was lame. So I investigated, and they were right, Rudd wants more productivity.

I would suggest that the word 'productivity' has already been used by many companies as to one of many reasons for sacking large amounts of their workforce. To increase the effeciency and productivity of the remaining staff.

Surely Rudd doesn't mean we should go around sacking more people? lofl.

Well, last week The Australian's website had an article essentially saying 'business wants the government to cut subsidies so they will be forced to fire people and raise productivity' along with pointing at the US economy to prove how because they fired more people at the begining of the crisis that they are rebounding stronger, but Australia has suffered a milder downturn, but will experience an equally mild and protracted period of growth if people aren't fired en mass NAO!

Unfortunately the search function on their website is ********, so I can't find it.
Point being, business said this before Rudd came out with it, so it isn't surprising.

It all works when one word has one meaning attached to it, so when I heard the PM, I first thought more people needed to be sacked. And the emphasis on the 'day before Australia Day', and how chucking a sickie may lead to be fraudulent, I just shook my head.

I would rather the day after, to nurse the hangover. I was not in good shape Wednesday morning.

It is the same sort of s**t Health Insurance companies raise their bills, not so much the raising, but the inventiveness of as to why.

First, they raise them because of the influx of people in the system, and the need to meet demand. Then, to raise them, because of the fear many will ditch their private health once they have to pay more medicare levy.

But that doesnt make sense, as there now should be more hospital machines to go around C:
