Personality: Sei can often times be considered a troubled individual. Usually diving into a vast sea of thoughts in the midst of a partially clear but also hazy past, she can sometimes appear lost, not in the sense of location, but of a disturbed mind. Despite this, she doesn’t allow herself to completely succumb to the pains that continue to try and weigh her down. Looked to by some as a leader and, by others, a hero, it is through the hopes of others that she often finds the strength to rise to the occasion, albeit sometimes with a struggle in the beginning. As a means to cover up those split moments of insecurity and to make up for the lack of a human past to look to, Sei’s personality changes with her mood and the situation at hand; just like how a normal human being would. She could be quiet, shy, brooding, and cold in one time, while putting on the warmest of smiles and laughs when she’s feeling alright for the right person who passes her by. She’s the pillar of support for those that don’t know how to stand up on their own, but overall, Sei’s just another good-hearted person with a bit of a hero complex, with the will to protect others and help them out, no matter how she feels.
Sei has never been the most social of butterflies, with not too many people getting an opportunity to get close to her; for anyone to be able to find the sensitivity behind those distant blue eyes is a near miracle, for she will usually find herself avoiding people. She had never been a natural when it came to socialization; better put, she is a reserved individual. Despite this, whatever friends she does have are held in high regard to her, as she would not hesitate to protect those that she loves, and opens up to them about any internal conflicts that she is suffering through. Given it be a battle, personal mentality, or just socialization in general, Sei can sometimes find herself at a lack of confidence within. Although, upon overcoming a fear or any hesitations, determination and a headstrong attitude can overwhelm her, making her a force to be reckoned with once she’s found the will to stand up against her opponents.

Biography: Sei doesn’t really remember anything from when she was still alive. In fact, she didn’t have enough time in her human life to memorize anything from it. Her life was rather short, as she died several minutes after her birth, and the actual reason behind her death remained a mystery. When she was born, she was the younger of the pair of twins that her mother had produced, and the two were of the very few babies that didn’t cry. It was surprising, not only for her mother, but from the doctor of the village, as well. Her mother, having not heard the cry of her newborn babies, thought that something was wrong. Gladly, for her, the doctor told her that her babies were all well and healthy. Great relief was the feeling that her mother felt, at that time, though that feeling was short-lived. After nearly twenty minutes after their birth, they started crying. That had worried the doctor, who checked them once again to see if something was wrong. It was discovered that their heartbeats were at a rather high rate, and the doctor tried to stabilize the heartbeat. However, his efforts were of no avail. It had felt like ages, but three whole minutes had passed before Sei’s cries vanished and her heart stopped beating. Her older twin followed the same fate but a few minutes later. The doctor told the mother of the sad news, and she silently cried for the loss of, not one, but two daughters.
Sei didn’t remember how she ended up in Soul Society. She had regained her consciousness in a forest’s clearing without any knowledge as to where she was or where to go, while, in fact, she was still a newborn baby. Somehow someway, she was found by a young man and was adopted into his family, which was situated within the first district of Rukongai. Although her father-in-law was gentle and kind, and took good care of her, Sei didn’t exactly have a good life being with the rest of his family. He had two sons and a wife, but the three of them looked down upon her with disdain. The sons would wait for when their father was off and away before starting to bully and making not very safe tricks on Sei, while the wife turned a blind eye to it all. Even when the sons made her break an arm and a leg as they threw her off a ladder when she was gathering fruits from a nearby tree, the wife didn’t say a word of it when her husband came home and inquired about it. Sei didn’t accuse the others either, and merely said it was an accident. She continued to accept that kind of abuse upon her as the years went on, even as the scars began to deepen and as she lost sight in her left eye, but she was happy under the care and protection of her father-in-law who had bestowed her name upon her because it suited her. And while she never understood in what way it suited her, she accepted the name with love. Sei’s father had taught her many things at the time she was living with his family. At the age of three and around six months, her father taught her how to read, write, and speak. She had difficulties with those tasks, probably due to how she had no education and how she died as a newborn baby, and so many months had passed before Sei managed to learn how to read, write, and speak properly, though with one little catch: she kept referring to herself in third person, and she kept adding an extra “min-min” to the end of her sentences. It was a bad habit, but she got used to it, and so she’s stuck to it even to present day. A year had passed, and Sei was around four and around three months when her father decided to train her at several martial arts. She wasn’t exactly good at it, but she had rather unnatural strength for a little girl and she kept at it as the years went by until the one day her father unexpectedly died from an unknown illness. His wife and sons took this opportunity to rid themselves of Sei altogether, and had thus left her to fend for herself in the first district of Rukongai. Frankly, she wasn’t all that surprised at this, but she luckily found someone who was willing to help her out after a long while of just wandering about. A house builder had hired her so that she could earn her food, with the job consisting of going out into the countryside to bring back bamboo for building houses. As this work kept her out of the cities, it took nearly ten years before the Shinigami discovered that Sei had potential to become one of them.
In the Shinōreijutsuin, Sei was an average student in most of her studies. She was passable in hand-to-hand combat, not bad in stealth techniques, and above average with Reiatsu manipulation and detection, but Kidō and swordplay were where she really did her best. She wasn’t at the top of her class, but she was easily near it. Once she graduated, she joined the ranks of the Shinigami, and was assigned to the eleventh division. Within that division, strength is paramount to all other possible aspects of combat. Sei didn’t lack in strength, but she soon found the near-constant contests of strength to be too much of a nuisance. One thing that Sei does attribute to her stay in the eleventh fighting division is her achievement of Shikai, but nonetheless, after nearly twenty years as part of the eleventh division, Sei requested a transfer to division eight. Once there, she was put into the offensive sub-division, and she took time during her day to hone her skills in the major Shinigami arts. She practiced Kidō, and became much more skilled at it than she had been in the academy. During her time with the eighth division, she also moved up in rank and became an eighteenth seat in that division. However, before long, she once again requested a transfer: this time to the ninth division.
Zanpakuto Information
Sealed: While Sei’s zanpakuto’s original, sealed appearance remains relatively unknown to most outside of her contacts due to how it obtained a constant release form over the years, it was but an long, heavy katana with a somewhat jagged blade with a brief line from the Hannya Shingyo engraved into it. The sword was elegantly designed with several dark-looking attributes, with its crossguard comprised of that seems to resemble that of a bat’s wing. The sheath also has a bat’s wing designed into it. Both the pommel and the sheath has been made out of metal and covered with ray skin, followed by a silver finish in certain areas. Simple, violet tassels were attached to the end of the hilt and to the lower side of the sheath. Sei’s zanpakuto is but the spirit of her older twin sister, but this is something that only Sei herself will know.
Shikai: [Achieved, Constant-Release, No abilities yet.]
When one meets Sei, her zanpakuto is often already found in its Shikai form: a sort of “cannon” that covers up her entire left arm and extends almost as far down as her feet and the ground she stands upon. High caliber and capable of mass destruction, it judges her enemies with lightning from the sky. Having heard the end of others that have once encouraged her heart, it has an obsidian black design and seems almost alive, seemingly causing the need for it to be retained with the usage of chains. The “cannon” cannot be detached from her person unless her entire arm is cut off.

Rakurai (Bolt of Lightning): Lightning crackles along Sei’s “cannon” to make it unravel and break from the chains that bind it. When that lightning reaches the tip, it quickly bursts out in a sudden, but huge and destructive beam. Because the lightning only shoots out in a straight line, Sei would have to have extremely good accuracy to actually hit her target. This “railgun effect" is very powerful and therefore has a drawback: the lightning never can strike the same place twice. If Sei hits something with this attack, she can’t hit the exact same place again. Also, this ability, despite its strength and possession of numbing and paralyzing side effects, it should be used when a distance of at least three meters is set. If it is used in close-range, the caster is in risk of being affected by the side effects and damage provided by the technique. In order for the paralyzing side effects to work against those of higher rank, the attack must be used with much more reiatsu to be effective against the target, otherwise it will dissipate. However, the numbing effects always affect the target despite the level of reiatsu used and the opponent’s rank. Despite only being of small degree against more powerful opponents, the numbness still would take effect. Rakurai, being of the lightning element, provokes serious injuries to the target, though it may require two or three shots to take out someone of the same rank and double amount of shots to seriously injure a higher-ranking opponent, and, of course, the hits must be successful for all those times. There is also a brief cool-down period of ten seconds before she can use this attack again.
Junrai (Thunderclap): This attack can only be used after the usage of Rakurai, since thunder only happens after lightning. Junrai creates a blast-wave of sound that not only hurts Sei’s opponents, but also throws them back. It is used in a similar manner as Rakurai, with the exception of it possessing an “area of effect” range rather than that of a straight line. However, this attack, like Rakurai, should only be used at mid-distance or else the caster will receive the “massive damage”. Provoking numbness or paralyzing side-effects, this ability is much like thunder, as its name suggests, and it assumes an unpredictable course like lightning, being available for use as long as it is within Rakurai’s ten second cool-down period. Though this ability might be considered strong and has the potential to be able to do decent damage to opponents one rank higher, it is still nothing that would be considered deadly toward anyone ranks higher than that of Sei. However, it can somewhat paralyze and provide numbness to those of equal and lower level, and, as the other, is able to instill numbness to anyone. This attack would take about two or three connecting shots to make those of equal ranks collapse, also still leaving them weakened after the first direct hit. In regards to those of higher ranking, the number of shots is doubled in order to inflict serious and minimal damage.

Bankai: [Not yet achieved.] “Ikkatsu.” (い つ っ か, Roar)
Referred to as the “Insanity State”, its form is never exactly constant, forging itself into many different ways depending on Sei’s mood and the situation at hand. In this state, Sei’s normally blue eyes turn an eerie purple, many of the scars that have since disappeared over time return and become blatantly obvious, especially across her stomach. The material that the cannon is comprised of in its Shikai state “consumes” a majority of Sei’s upper body and legs in order to provide a form of protection against incoming obstacles between the now-extended downtimes of her attacks. Chains also form a wall of defense in order to try and bar things from attacking Sei. Rather than having the “cannon” covering up her dominant left arm like in its Shikai state, her left arm, instead, is simply armored with the dark material and holds the ability to form itself into a long lance. The blade can be extended even further at high speeds to impale Sei’s opponents, and can be swung in wide arcs. In the Bankai state, the “cannon” covers up Sei’s right arm and, most of the time, enlarges itself in length so that it’s practically the size of Sei. This consequently makes it impossible for her to let her arm hang around limply without having the cannon dig into the ground she stands upon. It also is significantly heavier in contrast to the “cannon” provided in her Shikai state. That, and the encasing and binding of chairs on her legs render her immobile while her Bankai is active.
