4/30/2021 Gaian Calender; 0344:
A message was recieved from a T'wan Science Corporation (BioWare Firm of Technology) that asked for the assitance of Pallas Corporation in defending and retaking one of their facilities within a smally T'wan valley. Most of the area has been forested by the company, so is now just a simple plain with a small compound in the center. The actual labs, however, are built into the mountains that make the valley.

Pallas will be sending two SWORD fireteams to assist in the capture of the valley, with unlimited assistance from POMMEL units stationed just offshore from the T'wan coast, which isn't far away. The teams will insert via Black Hawk helicopter with numerous supplies at 1100 today.

[x]

What we know about the island is limited. We understand that there is coral around the island, so a naval entry or exit is impossible. Due to this we will deploy via VTOL Airdrop base jump. It is two miles at it's longest, and one on the inner base. The complete center has a small compound, about twenty-feet by twenty-feet, which will have supplies air dropped in. A defensive station will be set up, before an incursion into a nearby caves. We do not know the extense or depth of caves.

Equipment Available: Any available normally, along with provided ground mounted GAU-19s.

War Chief and Director Ralen Kentovru.
T'wan : | : Umbra
En route to drop zone.

Ralen was sitting in the back of the Osprey, cradling his helmeted head in his hands, staring straight at the ground. Underneath him, his weapon lie across the floor, secured by small straps for that very purpose, along with a different main arm he had decided to bring with him: a Pancor Jackhammer.

He had replaced the M1911 he usually carried with the M5 Cobra, modified to hold seven .500 S&W rounds. Along with another 12 gauge shot from the handgun, he was quite prepared to fight in close quarters with the monsters they would be going up against. He sighed, before standing up in the back and looking down the row that was formed by the two flanking benches in the back of the V-22. His entire team was there- and that made him smile. They all knew what they were up against; they'd been briefed in the mission before they had taken off, so they knew the bugs were going to be ferocious and hard to take down. It would be fun.

Sitting with his head against the interior of the Osprey, Arwenves was restless, Going back to T'wan, I never thought it would be this quickly. He thought to himself as he glanced down at his weapons, his XM-8 DMR was strapped firmly in it slot under his seat, he hadn't had the weapon long but the weight felt good and he knew it was accurate. For this mission Ves had decided to bring his MP-14 SAMPAC, another fairly new weapon to him, but he had spent several days firing it and getting used to exactly how it felt, he was pleased with the purchase; it felt right in his hands. He had left T'wan barely a year ago to explore the world at large, he never thought he'd be returning quite this soon. 'Ves wished there were windows, not seeing what was going on around him always grated on his nerves.

There was always that nervous excitement before a mission started, 'Ves knew he would calm down once he got back on solid ground, but until then he would just have to suffer through it and try not to puke in his helmet.

((OOC: met a girl actually named Arwen last night. it was cool >.<))

POMMEL Senior Operative Johnathan Hawthorne
Osprey Umbra Pilot - T'wan
Approaching Drop Zone

"ETA to approach in eight minutes."

John inhaled deeply. He scanned the skies briefly; the weather was perfect for flying. He couldn't have asked for better. The island was drawing closer and closer. John turned the aircraft slightly against the wind. Slowly he began to decrease altitude. They were coming in: "Prepare your men, sir." he said over his comlink to the Director; "We're almost there."

Alex Johnson
S.W.O.R.D. Junior Operative
V-22 Osprey- Umbra
skies over T'wan
en route to drop point

Alex sat in the rear of the Osprey, XM8 SAW cradled in his hands. The rifle and attached M320 launcher were unloaded, as was his pistol. He removed a round from his pocket, and pulled back the charging handle on his rifle, then inserted the round into the chamber and closed the charging handle. He then pulled out the C-drum magazine and loaded it into the mag well, then loaded a grenade into the launcher. Finally, he inserted a round into the chamber of his USP, then loaded the magazine. Ensuring the safeties were still engaged, he placed the pistol back in it's holster, and the rifle on his lap.

The pilot had announced they were eight minutes out. Until then, he leaned his head against the wall of the Osprey and closed his eyes.

Jr. Operative Mitchell "Bear" Sawyer
PalCorp Osprey Umbra
T'wan

Bear was seated towards the front of the Osprey. The customised FAL OCW hung from the shoulder rig that was home to his familiar Remington 870 and machete. The holster on his thigh housed his new hand cannon - a M5 Cobra. Similar to the War Chief's own Cobra, but Bears was chambered for the .460 S&W calibre - allowing 9 rounds in the cylinder along with the 12 gauge shotgun round in the center.

It was nice to be using a FAL again - Bear's weapon of choice. This rifle was was a customised job, the product of a fair bit of work with the SWORD armoury and Bear. It sported a shortened barrel comparable to his old L2A1 "b***h", front grip and tactical light, holographic sight with the flip-to-side scope and an adjustable folding stock. Bear had also added a wooden pistol grip, replacing the existing polymer grip and bringing the rifle back to its roots. Considering the extras added to rifle it still weighed about the same as his original rifle from years ago - but more compact and rugged.

Bear heard the pilot's message and checked over his gear again. The FAL was loaded but had not chambered a round as yet and set to safe. He slid the 870 from its holster on his back and ensured it was loaded and ready for action before returning it. Bear reached back and clipped the shotgun and machete securely into place. Last thing he wanted was to lose his weapons before he hit the ground.

((Ves - I am required to ask under the bro code. Did you hit that?))

War Chief and Director Ralen Kentovru.
Twan : | : Umbra
En route to drop zone, addressing the troops.

There were two security teams on board: that meant eight men. They were all equipped similarly, yet differentiated among them, letting them specialize and focus by using weapons they were more familiar with. Ralen enjoyed the flexibility he had by operating with a PMC team that he had under direct control; there were no regulations he had to follow.

Ralen nodded in approval to noone in general, before reaching down and bringing up his own weapons. He loaded, chambered, and charged the XM8, and subsequently shouldered the weapon, before doing the same to his Pancor Jackhammer. He made sure the M5 was ready to fire, before reholstering it, and checking his melee weapons: a footlong, top serrated machete and his family's warclub (the former across his back, while the latter hung from a thong at his hip).

"Alright, men! The back doors gonna' open and we're gonna' rain hell on some bugs. Then we're getting out there and gonna' tear a hole straight to the scientists still on the island. Once they're back on the aircraft, we're holing up. Understood!?" he barked, as he strolled down the aisle, his eyes examining each man. They all took the action differently, but all were preparing or had already prepared their weapons. When he got to the end of the aircraft, he stopped and grabbed a hold of a small hook attached to the interior wall. He held on and prepared to swing out once they got close: this would give him space to fire, as well as opening up the rest of the soldiers to fire without a chance for friendly fire. He assumed that five men would be able to fire: three standing in the middle, and two on each bench, not including himself.

Ooah.

Johnson listened to the Director as he spoke, then waited until he crossed over to the back of the Osprey, before he crossed over to him. He was confused about something, and he needed to confirm it.

Keeping his rifle in his hands, he stood at the back door, then looked over at the Director. "Sir, I'm afraid I didn't catch all of what you said. Did you say 'bugs'? The hell are we supposed to be fighting?"

Nathan Slaeh
S.W.O.R.D. Special Agent
PalCorp V-22 Osprey; "Umbra"
Above T'wan

The ex-medic had taken a seat in the far corner of the Osprey, his bent frame slumped within the cargo seat with his XM8 rested across his knees. There was something about this mission that rubbed Nathan the wrong way - not in the usual 'I could probably die' sort of way, but in more so of a 'I don't like what we're fighting' sort of way. Having the rank of special agent, he was a little bit more informed about his enemy than the majority of the others were. They were bugs.

It's not that Nathan was afraid of bugs, it's just that it was an entirely different beast than what he was used to going up against. Humans were beings of habit; of predictability, as the medic had found out. Insects, however, were almost completely unpredictable other than their prime motives - with some insects, the queen's will being the most prominent - and this worried the agent.

With a small shift of his weight he adjusted within his seat, moving his XM8 to rest against the side of his knee. With the director's announcement, his gaze quickly averted. <******** bugs."

BUGS?!?!

'Ves started, Bugs? I'm from T'wan and I know there are no bugs that could pose a threat... I wonder what we're going up against. He shrugged, it wasn't like he was going to back out now. Grabbing his rifle he made sure the clip was fully loaded and there was a round in the chamber. He checked the safety and set it back down, Ves pulled out his MP-14 and quickly slid the stock along the barrel to make sure it hadn't grimed up. Satisified that if he had to draw it, there wouldn't be any problems he returned it to it's holster and out of reflex slipped a throwing knife out of it's sheath and into his hand. Then he realized that against something with an exoskeleton like most bugs had, his throwing knives wouldn't be very effective. He slid the knife back into it's sheath with a slight chuckle.

Standing up he grabbed his rifle and looked around at everyone in the Osprey with him, nodding when he made eye contact. A slight grin played along his features as he started psyching himself up for the mission ahead. "Bugs huh? Do we have to wait to see the whites of their eyes to fire?" He said as he walked to the rear of the bird.

Osprey Umbra Pilot - T'wan
Hover-hover-hover

After hearing the Director's orders, John looked out ahead: they were almost there. He brought the Osprey down low, then leaned over and flicked the switch to open the back hatch: "Lowering back hatch." he said over the team comm; "Coming down in five... four... three... two... one."

They just made it over the tree line. Time to kill some bugs.

Bear stood up and cycled the action on his FAL - chambering a round.

"Whatever the hell it is we're killing we're not gunna get jack squat done standing around talking like a damned mother's club."

He stepped forward and seated himself on one of the bench seats lining the side of the aricraft. Bear brought the stock of his rifle up to his shoulder and glanced down the sights through the opening rear hatch. Powering on the holo sight he made sure the scope was still clipped in place, set off to the side for now. He couldn't see these 'bugs' but he made sure he was ready to land a 7.62 round in whatever the hell they were.

"Waiting your call Director. Weapons hot on your mark."

Bear's finger hovered over the safety catch. Ready for action.
