INTRO

This is the NFL Gambling Sub-Forum. Here, you will come to gamble on NFL games. We run systems for Win/Lose betting, Point Spreads betting, and even Over/Under betting. In this Announcement thread, I will explain, in detail, how our systems work, how to use them, and I will do my best to make you understand how to take the best advantage of what we have to offer.

As stated in the Introduction Announcement in the Main Forum, you must purchase a trading pass from the marketplace in order to make trades so you can bet.

HOW WE RUN

In this Sub-Forum, you will see a brand new set of threads posted weekly. Each one is an NFL game, and will contain information about that game. If you will be placing a Win/Lose bet, you will vote for the team you are betting on in the poll listed in each game thread. If not, then don't touch the poll. You will copy the Post Format below, fill it out with who your picks are, post it in the proper game thread, and then send a trade with the proper amount of gold to the Guild Mule Account.

THREAD LAYOUT/POST FORMAT

As stated above, I will post a thread for every game every week. They will all be in the same format. There will be a poll to vote in, which I will explain later, and the thread itself will follow this format:

(Visitor Team) (Spread Designation) @ (Home Team) (Spread Designation)
(Day of the Week), (Month) (Date), (Year); (Time and Time Zone)

Bid Amount: (Gold Amount)

Over/Under Total Prediction: (Points Prediction)

Weather Report

High: (High) Low: (Low)
(Precipitation Report/Winds/Cloud Report)

Below is the format that EVERYONE will use when they post a bet in one of the threads. I will explain all of the details of it later:

Win/Lose: (Team Name)
Point Spread: (Underdog or Favorite)
Over/Under: (Over or Uunder)

BID AMOUNT

The Bid Amount is the amount of gold you ante up when you bet in a game thread. All forms of betting, be it Win/Lose, Point Spread, or Over/Under, are for the same amount of gold. You are not required to bet in one way to be able to do another. You can do one only if you want, or you could do all three. But the more forms you do, the more money you must send in your trade.

Pre-Season Games - 200 Gold Per Bet
Non-Divisional Regular Season Games - 500 Gold Per Bet
Divisional Regular Season Games - 800 Gold Per Bet
Playoff/Division Clinching Regular Season Games - 1,000 Gold Per Bet
Wild-Card Round Playoff Games - 2,000 Gold Per Bet
Divisional Round Playoff Games - 3,000 Gold Per Bet
Conference Championship Playoff Games - 4,000 Gold Per Bet
Pro-Bowls - 1,000 Gold Per Bet
Super Bowls - 5,000 Gold Per Bet

So lets say you do all three forms on a Pre-Season game. You would send 600 Gold in your trade. Two forms? 400 Gold. One form? 200 Gold.

So, lets say you're doing all three forms on the Super Bowl. You would send 15,000 Gold.

WIN/LOSE

Win/Lose is a bet as simple as they come. If the team you chose won, you split the pot with the other winners. If the team you chose lost, you lose your money to the pot. This is the bet that is counted first.

When you are making a Win/Lose bet, you will also vote in the poll in the appropriate game thread.

In the Post Format, there is a field titled "Win/Lose". You will write the name of the team you are betting on in that field when you post.

POINT SPREADS

Spread Betting will be a new addition to gambling on the NFL next season. We will run Spread bets on every game next season alongside our Win/Lose bets. These bets will run differently than the typical Win/Lose bets, however. They are a tad bit more complicated. I will advertise a certain "Point Spread" for each game, or how much I think the difference between the two teams' scores could be. I will set who is the "Underdog" and who is the "Favorite" in each game according to the most recent weekly power rankings. You will bet on the "Underdog" or the "Favorite".

Say you bet on the Underdog. You will win if the Underdog's score plus the Spread is greater than the Favorite's score. Example:

Spread: 10
Underdog: 21 Favorite: 28
21+10=31; 31>28 WIN

Spread:10
Underdog: 17 Favorite: 28
17+10=27; 27<28 LOSS

Say you bet on the Favorite. You will win if the Favorite's score minus the spread is greater than the Underdog's score. Example:

Spread: 10
Underdog: 17 Favorite: 28
28-10=18; 18>17 WIN

Spread: 10
Underdog: 21 Favorite: 28
28-10=18; 18<21 LOSS

If you bet on the Underdog in the spread bet, you will enter "Underdog" into the Point Spread field. If you bet on the Favorite, you will enter "Favorite" into the Point Spread field.

OVER/UNDER

Over/Under, though not as straightforward as Win/Lose, is still rather simple. I will advertise, in each game thread, an Over/Under Score Prediction. That is the number that the crew and I think the score in that particular game will reach. That is, the number that you get when you add the scores of BOTH teams participating. If you think it will be higher than the advertised number, then you will simply enter "Over" into the Over/Under field. If you think it will be lower, then you will simply enter "Under" into the Over/Under field.

PREDICTION BETS

Prediction Bets are a little different than the rest of the bets that we run in this guild, as they are run during the Pre-Season alone, and then are closed until the end of the regular season, when they are paid out.

TEAM RECORD PREDICTION BETS

At the beginning of the season, users will be able to make a bet about what a team's record will be at the end of the regular season. 1000 gold per team. Bettors will be paid according to their accuracy. If the prediction you make is three to five points off of the team's actual Regular Season record, then you will only lose half of your gold to the pot. If you are more than five points off, then you will lose all of your gold to the pot. If you are within two points, then you will lose none of your gold, and will gain a percentage of the pot. If you are one point off or are spot on, then you will split the pot. Example:

1- Prediction - 13-3 Actual - 11-5
2- Prediction - 9-7 Actual - 11-5
3- Prediction - 3-13 Actual - 3-13
4- Prediction - 8-8 Actual - 12-4
5- Prediction - 7-9 Actual - 1-15
6- Prediction - 2-14 Actual - 6-10
7- Prediction - 11-5 Actual - 7-9
8- Prediction - 5-11 Actual - 10-6
9- Prediction - 12-4 Actual - 11-5
10- Prediction - 11-5 Actual - 7-9

Spot On Or One Off - 2 (2,250 Gold Each)
Two Off - 2 (1,250 Each)
Three To Five Off - 5 (500 Each)
More Than Five Off - 1 (O Gold)

10,000-COMMISSIONS(500)=9,500-2,500=7,000-2,000=5,000-500=4,500

So, as modeled above, ten people made bets. Two were spot on or one off, two were two off, five were within three to five points, and one was more than five off. That one lost all of their money. Once the pot is counted, Commissions are taken (5%). Then those that were three to five off get half of their gold back. Then those who were two off got their gold back and then split 10% of what remains in the pot. Then what is left of the pot is divided between those that were one point off or spot on.

Of course, this is a very simplified version of what will happen. I am expecting that people will probably be making bets on multiple teams, and the pot, and thus the winnings, will be much greater.

DIVISION CHAMPIONS PREDICTION BETS

At the beginning of the season, users will be able to make a bet about who division leaders will be at the end of the regular season. You must make a prediction about the entire league. The pot is also divvied out according to accuracy. It costs 4,000 gold to submit a bet. 500 gold per division. Divisions you are wrong about, you lose your money for. The amount of divisions you get right determine the fraction of the pot you get at the end of the regular season.

Example:

40000 gold in the pot. 10 people bet.

Add numerators, divide total by the pot. That is what 1/8 is equal to. Distribute accordingly.

1 - 4/8 - 3,534 Gold
2 - 5/8 - 4,418 Gold
3 - 2/8 - 1,767 Gold
4 - 1/8 - 883 Gold
5 - 8/8 - 7,068 Gold
6 - 6/8 - 5,301 Gold
7 - 3/8 - 2,651 Gold
8 - 4/8 - 3,534 Gold
9 - 3/8 - 2,651 Gold
10 - 7/8 - 6,185 Gold

40,000-COMMISSIONS(2,000)=38,000
Numerators add to equal 43
38,000/43=883 Gold
1/8=883 Gold
