The Descendents = Awesome
Punk is one of my favorite genres. I like a lot of different forms of punk. Hardcore punk, punk rock, punk ska, even a bit of pop punk.
OOOoo, just got the CD "Nevermind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols".

I am absolutely IN LOVE with The Distillers, As well as The Casualties.
Whoaa. And I recently watched that movie "Sid and Nancy" the documentary about Sid Vicious and his chick, Nancy?
It was actually surprisingly good. I mean, the ending was terrible, but the movie overall was actually really good.

Yay! I'm not a fan of punk but I love these guys. That's probably off-putting for real punks but it's the truth.

whateverfloats Yay! I'm not a fan of punk but I love these guys. That's probably off-putting for real punks but it's the truth. I wouldn't consider it off-putting to the so-called "real" punks. To my knowledge c**k Sparrer was never really all that popular or commercialized where a lot of trendy sub-par punk was. c**k Sparrer was also one of the first of a specific kind of punk groups called "Oi!", or "Working Class Punk". As you might have guessed, this, predominantly cockney, sub-genre of punk is heavily geared towards fighting for the working class, and not much else, which some people can relate to and some people can't. It probably doesn't help common misconception much that a lot of "Oi!" punks were dressing up in a militant skin-head fashion, before the neo-nazis were, and so now their image has naturally become some-what tainted, or at least to the naked eye. Though, sadly enough, most Oi! punks are passionately anti-racist, go figure... In the end I suppose it's all a matter of opinion and too many overly opinionated self-proclaimed punks will try to tell you other-wise, but it's because of those assholes that punk is nearly dead now. The best thing that you can do, if you are concerned about it, is trust and educate yourself on such matters while trying to keep an open mind to the voices of others.
