Hm...I think my biggest pet peeve is when people respond to misplaced topics, just to say LOL WRONG FORUM and then the thread gets bumped, rather than left alone. I also dislike the repeat threads. A LOT.

My dislike of the current GCD.

The lack of...
Originality, Depth.

GCD topics..are predictable, one liner replies, lack of originality and depth.

Also the biggest pet peeve I have is that GCDers who say that the GCD isn't the same anymore because of this, this, and that, yet they do those exact same things in other topics.

I was very set on the idea of item discussion being the cause of the state of the GCD as it is, and I was a strong advocate to remove it... but I've been thinking about it lately, and I don't think that's the solution.

Yes, all we seem to talk about are items.
Yes, most item threads are generally low in content.
Yes, most do tend to be repeat topics...

But it would seriously dry up the GCD, even worse than when the fanthreads were moved. Plot isn't constant either, so... we'd have tons of dry spells. Item discussion allows for a constantly changing GCD, and brings in new members, which is always good.

It's not like you can't have a deep discussion about items either, you totally can. Threads that are low content about items should just be reported like any other low content thread.

No, the problem with everything I think, is just the overal severe lack of thought out topics. Pretty much the low content + spoon epidemic that's sweeping the GCD~ and most people seem fine with it.

The only solution possible is to get people to stop making those topics. Change their attitude towards topic making per say. If enough people were to lead by example, creating threads with proper discussion (without the aid of spoons), and stayed around to dsicuss stuff... people might catch on.

That's the only remedy I can see anyway~

You all pretty much covered anything I could think of.

I think my personally biggest pet-peeve would be the repeat topic's much like flashes. I don't much mind all the EI day ones cause those are likely to never stop. The ones talking about the same topic Such as the recent ones being seen "tragedy in Haiti" seen about 6 in less then an hour and half where one liners with spoons.

»I only have a tolerance for one-liners with 'spoons' (although i HATE them) when a new item has come out, or something similar, as a good poster will often add to the OP as more info becomes available. But mor eoften than not, they don't

I think we should be able to discuss new items as they do link in with the plot, and the GCD is seen as the source of leaks and new information. I love that aspect of our forum. However I don't like the competition of posting 'first' and for attention that some posters do.

But otherwise I agree with all of you lot - repeat threads, old news threads, people who post in spam topics(unless they're being helpful), MIS-INFORMATION AND SWEEPING GENERALISATIONS, people not actually DISCUSSING things (although i really hope this new email feature when someone quotes your post will help that <3), and spoons.

SPOONS. They are the bane of our forum - they give people an excuse to post low content, attention-seeking threads, and give posters the excuse to post-survey style responses and hop on along to another thread. Repeat ad nauseum.

I'm probably a little against the grain of some people in here because I'd like things to be a little more relaxed in terms of the type of threads that can be posted (I like 'what-if' threads, for example) purely because, like Liselle said, the forum would just dry up otherwise ;_; And I'm not going to CB or GD in search of intelligent, fun threads like those often can be. But I know there's some work to be done in the meantime to clean the place up, and that requires some more stringent guidelines on what's acceptable and what's not.

You all have pretty much hit the head on all of my pet peeves with the GCD as it is now. Though number one would be the hit-and-run repeat threads. While I'll admit I have been guilty of a few, I don't actually run. I stick around to see if there's anyone worth replying to that isn't just saying the same things I am. :<

Oh yes, much so. I don't think we are against threads that are what ifs, actually, those are very discussable. I think most just hate the suprising low content we see these days. Yes, some one liners are fine, but 10 one liners about the same thing do make me User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. a little XD

Low content threads... fail D;
We need to try and get people to post topics with... depth.

oh yeah, one more thing i've forgotten: necro'd threads! though as one person pointed out when it was brought up in the GCD, it might be because the search function in the forums doesn't always work chronologically, so someone will probably just post whatever in the first thread that shows up in the results. but would checking the date really kill a person? :c

Sections bolded in which I completely agree. Every time I read a low-content thread and then there are spoons attached - with some that don't even relate to the topic - I have to hold a bit of myself back from flaming and put on my "play nice" face.

Edit // (I forgot the second half of my response - oops >_>) I think the "what-if" threads actually add a lot to the GCD. It gets us all talking and coming up with ideas that devs and other higher ups might incorporate into the plot. That may seem like a long shot, but if a "what-if" thread that spawned enough discussion within the GCD, I don't think it would be too inconceivable.
