I don't remember much about what happened. I was sitting in my room just staring out my window to the dark night. There was a pounding on the front door. I figured that it was one of my mother's "customers" so I didn't bother to move. The door opened with a squeak. 'We need to get that fixed.' I thought to myself. The next thing I hear is my mother screaming, "She isn't here!" But before she finished, my door was kicked in. I jumped up in shock but everything went black.

When I woke up I was in a white room, strapped to a bed. My wrists and ankles were handcuffed to the rails. I tried to pull free but it was no use, the restraints were too tight. The door opened and a man in a white suit came in. He looked me over, checking my temperature, my pulse, my heart rate. "Where am I? Who are you? What do you want with me?" I asked quickly. My heart was racing. Fear pulsed through me. But the man refused to answer my questions. He just pulled out a syringe, filled it with a blue liquid and shoved it into the vein at my elbow. Blinding pain raced up my arm and into my chest. I knew that I was screaming but I couldn't hear anything. The world faded to black.

When I awoke again I was in what looked to be a hotel room. Laying perfectly still and keeping completely quiet, I listened for anyone but I already knew that no one was there. I don't know how I knew but I did. I sat up slowly and looked around the room; a very typical hotel room that you would find in any hotel across the country. I started to get up but I saw my hand out of the corner of my eye; I pulled back in shock, as if I could disconnect it from myself. My hands had both turned so white that they were almost see through. You could clearly see the veins pulsing below the skin; ice blue ribbons running up my arms. 'What's happened to me?' I noticed that I was wearing nothing more than a sports bra and boy shorts. My skin and veins looked the same all over my body. I reached up to run my hand through my short hair but the hair didn't stop. My hair was suddenly as long as I was tall.

"What?" I got up from the bed and stumbled over to what looked to be the bathroom door. The wood was rough against my skin but I didn't notice, I just pushed the door open and turned on the light. As the light kicked on, I fell back screaming. The sudden light hurt my eyes; they felt as if they were burning. I hadn't realized that it was dark out until then. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the sudden, blinding light, I sat on the floor and examined myself better. In the light my veins popped out even more and now you could see bruises; my wrists and ankles were the worst. A red mark caught my eye. It was where the man in white injected me with that blue liquid. My eyes had gotten used to the light so I stood up and looked into the mirror but what I saw wasn't me. My face was the same shape but the acne was gone, my hair was now pitch black except for a single purple streak on the right side, my lips were plump and bright red, but most shocking of all were my eyes; my beautiful once greenish eyes were now black.

"No." I set my hand against the mirror as I realized what had happened. Suddenly, memories started to flood back. But they weren't memories of my current lifetime, they were memories from a past that I had hoped to forget. "Raven." As I said the name, the mirror shattered as if it was only there to help me realize my true name. Blood started to run down my hand and the piece of mirror it touched. Tears had started to flow but they weren't the normal, clear, watery type; blood flowed from the corners of my eyes.

I dropped to my knees and continued to cry. Through my tears, I saw my clothes change. From a sports bra and boy shorts to a short, black v-cut halter top and black bell-bottom pants. As the transformation finished, the tears stopped. "I cant just sit here. I need to...." My words faltered. "To what?" The tears began to flow again but this time from confusion and not from shock.
