Everyone's heard the story of Alice in Wonderland. Of course, Alice thought it was all a dream, but she wasn't the one stranded in chaos and madness after she left. Once she had left, she left Wonderland in madness. And so, the Queen of Hearts called forward a great spirit of Wonderland to calm the chaos. Although she was the Queen and everyone had to bow down to her, the spirit refused to. This angered the Queen into a frenzy and she beheaded him, but with the spirit's final curse, everyone in Wonderland was turned male. The Queen never wanted to be a King, and killed herself shortly after becoming male. Now a new King rules over Wonderland, and things are calm once again... at least until a new face shows up. A new Alice, or rather Alex has appeared with a few friends.

The dew from the flowers fell slowly onto his peach colored skin, trickling down his face as if he were crying. The colorful smoke that arose around his breath took on bright, cheerful colors. Purple, indigo, magenta, and the like, swirled 'round into a rainbow of auras before breaking up into small butterflies and being blown into oblivion by a soft wind that rolled along the meadow. The large cloud arose from a single smally boy's body, almost hidden within the patch of pink flowers he lay in. The tall flowers craddled his fragile body, as if they held onto a precious child.

A stronger gust of wind blew across the dreamfield, and the smoke was quickly blown off towards the tall Wonderland Castle that loomed in the distant. Although its marble white towards glowed in the daylight, the aura that hung about it made it an odius place to go near.

The small fragile boy slowly sat up, the cigarette between his two slim fingers disintegrating into the air as a white smoke. Two pale eyes opened, revealing the almost transparent pearly color of his eyes.

"...I suppose it was destined to happen..." his soft voice played along the wind, giving an almost regal air about it. He could feeling the merging of minds, the pain and anger of lovers, all floating about the Castle Grounds. So many emotions, so many strong emotions, he could feel them so clearly from here... so far from the Castle.

Marik gripped his chest for a moment, feeling the invasion upon his own heart. He hated this. His powers, his position. He had never wanted to be the Heart of Wonderland. He didn't even have his own heart anymore, everyone else simply pushed their feelings into his being, changing him.

His orb-like eyes looked up to the pale blue sky. Too many things indeed that were rushing around Wonderland, and as the Heart, he could feel all of their lives rubbing past his own.

The Heart slowly stood up from his throne of pink flowers and pulled out a small silver watch from his pocket. He clicked it open, exposing the rusting broken glass to the fresh air. Closing it softly, he gently put it back in its proper place and looked towards the towarding trees ahead of him that made up the Wonderland Forest.

"It's like forgetting, the words to your favorite song. You can't believe it, you were always signing along. It was so easy, and the words so sweet. You can't remember you try to feel the beat. Eet, eet, eet, eet eet, eet." he sang softly, moving towards the forest. He glided across the land, almost as if he weren't walking, but then again. He was a spirit.

Kizzy Elliot Nyx - as his mother had intelligently named him - crouched in the tall grass, just twitching to pounce on the prey he had in his sights. He clawed at the ground, the dirt sticking to his fingernails. His eyes darted about, everywhere at once. His tail silently waved behind him. He adjusted his ears, listening to his prey as if this insight would help him succeed. Kizzy crouched even lower, his eyes and ears barely above the grass. There was a moment in which everything was still, the whole world stood still. And then the moment was gone. His prey had moved, stalked off toward the woods.

Kizzy sighed. He stood and followed the other man. The Heart, that's what he was called - his prey. Kizzy had really looked forward to pouncing on him but a little more dedication was required for a moving target. "Marik!" he called, skipping as he ran. Kizzy could hear him singing to himself, he didn't recognize the song. He sidled up to him with a sideways gallop. He revealed a toothy grin to the other man, nimbly skipping backward so he could face him. "Marik, hey. How ya doing today?" Kizzy wasn't really partial to any particular answer, mostly just trying to make conversation.

Marik sigh softly, a few puffs of white smoke tumbling from his lips. Even when he didn't smoke, puffs of white smoke would emerge from his mouth. The Cheshire cat was stalking him once again. This was... strangely normal for him. At least for the cat.

Marik could feel all of the energy and comfort that came from being near another spirit. The Heart's UV eyes glanced over at the Cheshire cat, looking him over gently before his hands blocked his eyes while he brushed a few locks of hair out of his face.

"I am." he replied simply, trying to keep all of Kizzy's energy from influencing himself. Intrusive emotions and energy were always doing this to him. It could be so frustrating, especially when he was a calm person.

Marik stopped walking, pulling out another white cigarette stick and biting down on it lightly. He pulled out a small lighter and lit it up before tucking away the zippo lighter and breathing out another large puff of pale pink smoke. The smoke tumbling up into the air before turning into several butterflies and disappearing into the wind altogether.

"Just as you exist, as do I.... besides your need for companionship, don't you have things to do in the castle?" came Marik's slow after-thought of a reply. His UV white eyes looked directly into the Cheshire's glowing yellow ones. They were so different, so why was it that Cheshire was influencing him again.

Kizzy rocked on his heels, tucking his hands into his back pockets. His tail waved happily because of the attention he was getting. He frowned. He didn't like smoke and he didn't like the direction this conversation was going. The castle was boring: responsibilities, people telling him what to do. Besides, shouldn't Marik be in the castle, too? "No, I don't have any business in the castle," he lied. "Do you?" Kizzy nibbled on his lip, a nervous habit he often performed when he was bored or contemplative.

He had a need for closeness, but being somewhat aware of the Heart's abilities, resisted and kept his distance. He craved affection - more as a necessity than a want. Kizzy moved his hands in front of him, playing with the hem of his shirt. He liked to keep his hands busy and right now he didn't have a . . . toy, or anything to keep him occupied. His tail twitched, but since it wasn't pressed down against him he was still in a relatively good mood. His yellow cat's eyes scanned the forest, lingering on Marik's form.

The magenta shirt attracted him - he liked bright colors. His mood was very dependent on his sensory perceptions. He was often meloncholy on rainy days, or depressed by certain smells he deemed 'dark.' Kizzy ruffled up his dark auburn hair, scratching his ear of the same hue which was pierced twice with safety pins. The silver pins glinted in the dappled light of the forest. He stared at Marik, waiting for a response.

MARCELLO AERON DECRÉ

Wonderland forest is a dark and mysterious thing. Each and every corner of its domain holding hidden dangers and wonders for the unwary and the curious respectively. If anyone were smart they would leave the 'dangers' well and to its self, if anyone had any sense of perservation they wouldn't venture into its bowels unless they truly knew where they were going and where they were meant to be. And if anyone did have a sense of the two above reasons, they would have to have a true and important cause to be within the neighborhood of the castle...

"Hat, hat...." A tall and slender male murmured to himself as he tread the set path through Wonderland forest, his tread soft and almost soundless as his bare feet stepped carefully and unthinkingly over the fallen leaves, " Now where has that hat wandered off to? Didn't I tell it to stay well within my sight?"

The man was a sight to see to be sure. He was nicely dressed true enough, within a suit of onyx and cerulean, but the fabric was wrinkled and obviously well worn if the stray threads found here and there told the truth of it. His hair? A lengthy crimson laced with gold and his eyes a easy contrast with its turbulent shade of blue as the watchful orbs shifted through the shadows of the forest in the apparent hope of finding the "lost" head wear. His walk was lanky in nature but graceful, as though at any moment he would turn a trick. And his movements were restless, his hands fluttering here and there as it saught out a action to keep themselves well and truly occupied.

As though in sync with his hands silent wish the man brought one up to tap his thumb thoughtfully at his lips, the other hand coming to curl around the tip of his right elbow as he murmured again with a voice that seemed vaguely accented, the origin unknown, " Its been a while since its been missing, maybe too long in fact...did it get lost? Or kidnapped? Oh, dear....that's vaguely upsetting. And just past tea time too...horrible..."

Just as the man was about to go deeper into thoughts of 'ruined tea time' and the 'kidnappings of hats' a strange sort of green happened to catch his eye. A sort of green that was neither dark or light, one that didn't quite match the easy spring green of the tree's leaves. One that was exactly the same shade as...

"Ah! Ah-ha! There you are!"

....his hat. Dangling upon the limb of a near-by tree, for all the world looking as though it were waving at its owner as the the wind blew through the forest and caught inside its silken innards, was the hatters...hat. The place in which it were found would be strange enough considering the fact that one would think that if something was lost...it could have been found on the ground or at least stuck upon a low bush. But the simple fact became odder, or stranger as the case may be, when it was found that its branch mate...was a silver plated tea set tittering ever so carefully upon the branches arm.

"Naughty thing!" Marcello exclaimed reproachingly as he tugged the hat off the branch and looked over the head gear, his hands idly flicking off little bits of fungi that had broken off from the trees hard bark, "Wandering off when I wasn't looking. Shame!"

The hat for its part was silent, its piece of cloth unmoved at the man's reprimand. But as another wind took the forest its ribbons fluttered and its card quaked, the very act seeming as though it were clearly chastised, its manner fearful of the undesired anger from its master.

"Ah, its alright little darling. All is well, I was just worried" Marcello continued his one sided conversation easily as he finished his impromptu clean of the top hat and capped it reassuringly upon his head,"And I see that you've been waiting for me. You even remembered to set out a spot of tea! Lovely."

In a move that surprisingly didn't unseat the recently found hat, the hatter leaped easily toward a lower branch. His half gloved hands catching upon its thick mass as he swung once...then twice before latching his feet onto the rough surface and spun himself about so that he was sitting right-side-up upon the tree. Finished with his small task he crossed his legs and reached for the tea set just slightly above him and carefully set it on his lap, going about his business.

'A croissant, lavishly buttered. A cup of tea, filled almost to the brim. And sugar...sugar?'

"No spoon"

Realizing the small kink in his plan for a 'spot' of tea Marcello quickly patted his coat jacket in the hopes of finding the utensil.

'My pants? No. My sleeves? No. My shoes? Hmm, shoes....'

Thinking that that was a mystery for later Marcello shook his head and went back to the problem at hand. His hoped for spoon was no where to be found.

'Now where could it be?' The hatter contemplated as he scratched thoughtfully at his noggin and tried to think of a place he may not have checked. He was about to try checking his coat pocket again when he remembered...his hat!

Smiling at the sudden realization Marcello swiped the hat from his head and reached deeply and quickly into its recesses, the canopy of noise from such an action coexisting strangely with the fact that he was reaching inside a hat and not some crowded cupboard, and finally pulled out a spoon.

"Yes!" The delighted crow came as he successfully pulled out the utensil and capped the hat again upon his head, his hands already moving to put the required twenty spoons of sugar into the still warm brew. As he stirred the tea for a few moments and then placed the spoon within easy reach, the Hatter went about to enjoy his evening tea.

A small flicker of bliss coming upon his features as he mixed the sweet and slightly bitter taste of the herbal concoction with the buttery taste of the croissant, "Delightful."

Upon the Cheshire cat's satisfactory response, Marik let out another puff of smoke. Purple and pink colors tumbling across one another before yet again becoming butterflies and washed away by the soft wind. Marik closed his eyes for a moment. He he have any business with the Castle? Why no, not at all. In fact, he avoided the castle at all costs. Too many people, too many emotions. Every time he went there, he managed to pass out for a week until everyone had settled down.

His powers were quite a drawback. His family had been proud when they heard of his position, but he was quite dissatisfied with it. What was to like about becoming a servant to the cruel man that lived within that cold castle?

Marik shook his head lightly and sigh before taking in another long drag on the quickly shortening white cigarette. It was strange, as it ever smelled like cigarette smoke. Rather, a smell most similar to incense permeated the area around Marik and his smoke, always. One last puff of smoke into the air, this time a pale sky blue mixing in with the pastel purples and pinks.

While all of the other butterflies melted into the wind, a single butterfly solidified and flapped its way down to Marik's hand. Marik blinked, seeing the single butterfly, looking it over with his strange white eyes.

"...No...not the castle... I believe today is a good day to pay a visit to the Mad Hatter." he said quietly, the white cigarette disintegrating in a matter of seconds before the butterfly crawled into the palm of Marik's hand. "Let us see where he is." Marik said quietly, moving his hand forward as the butterfly took flight once more, heading off further into the forest depths. Presumably towards the Mad Hatter.

Marik followed the small creature, his eyes focused on the pastel purple, pink, and blue that lead him. At least, until it came upon a tree and flew upwards.

Marik followed it still, standing at the base of the tree and looking up to see the strange man as the butterfly landed on his hat.

"Hatter." Marik said quietly in greeting, wondering what the mad man would be up to this day.

Kizzy waited impatiently for the other man's response. His eyes flickered toward his airy creations with fleeting interest. Finally Marik's voice lassoed his attention, though the meaning of the words took a moment to sink in. He grinned once more, an expression that suited him well. The Hatter was an old friend, about a hundred years old to be exact. But Kizzy thought him to be entertaining and Marcello was usually more than willing to pay attention to him - in a passive, psychotic sort of way.

Kizzy cocked his head to the side as the ethereal butterfly wisped past him and toward a large tree - large enough to support a grown man on one of its gnarled branches. Kizzy's cat like smile shined up at the other man enjoying his tea. His ears twitched as the sudden urge to climb overcame him. Surely the madman above him wouldn't mind some company? Who among men, anyway, was territorial about trees? Seeing no reasoning against his resolution, Kizzy dug his claws into the large tree and scampered upward.

It was done quickly with the fast sweeping motion of his tail blurring his figure. He settled on a seperate branch, but one that was near enough to make conversation with both Marcello and Marik. His yellow eyes glanced from one man to the other, his tongue gliding over his pointier-than-usual teeth. He was lying down on the branch, his tail swaying rhythmically. He rest his cheek against one hand, elbow propped against the branch. His form-fitting clothes allowed for a purrific silhouette in the evening sun. His yellow eyes gleamed. "Hatter!" he greeted enthusiastically, "What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

MARCELLO AERON DECRÉ

Sweet. Buttery. Fluffy. Delicious.

The croissant is such a simple pastry, but one that holds its own easily with those that were over dressed and over decorated. And it was perfect with certain beverages, either it be coffee or tea. He couldn't exactly and for that matter rightly attest to the former...but he could say about the latter.

Popping the last bite of croissant into his mouth with evident delight, Marcello was about to sip the last of his tea to evenly mix the flavors when he was interrupted. To be more exact, something interrupted him.

A butterfly smoky and just barely see-through hovered just beyond his nose, seeming to stare him in the face for a moment in a strange sort of recognition. This act though, only lasted for a second before it fluttered its wings quickly and came to rest upon his hat just as a voice called out to him.

His first thought?

'The butterfly...is talking?'

His second upon realizing the voice came from below and not above?

'Someone else?'

And his final as he looked down and saw the one that pulled his attention?

'Ah! The heart!'

Lifting a hand still full with the dainty cup Marcello waved his hand toward the other in greeting, just barely stopping the motion before the contents slushed upon the one below as a small smile spread upon his features and his voice called down, " Evening to you!"

It wasn't altogether odd to find Marik wandering the woods considering the fact that he had a certain aversion to those within the castle, but to find him in this neck of the woods wasn't what he expected....not that he minded the company. Just the opposite in fact.

So it was with that thought in mind that Marcello turned slightly toward Kizzy and cheerfully answered his question, "Ah, my hat ran away you see. A devil of a thing too. One minute it was there safely upon my head and then the next it was skating around the ground like a nimble dancer! It was a good thing it found a place to wait patiently for me until I found it!"

As he said this in a matter-of-fact manner Marcello moved to sip his tea before answering, " I don't know what I would have done if it became lost. I probably would have become heartbroken."

Kizzy chuckled, emitting a sound more closely related to a purr than laughter. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the green canopy only a foot or two away. He placed his hands beneath his head as a sort of makeshift pillow. His tail could be seen swinging below him, off to the side so it hung against the branch. His ears twitched, he enjoyed the sounds of the forest at this time of day. It was bright, despite the hour, and the sky would soon be orange. Sunsets were something that pleased Kizzy, the collage of colors always pleasantly overwhelmed him.

Kizzy scratched his cheek. He wondered fleetingly if they would stay here long. His kin were mainly nocturnal, but he found he preferred the day. And the woods were not a place he especially desired to be after dark. Kizzy brushed the thought away, night was still a few hours away. No need to fuss about it now. He reached up and tapped a thin branch that was sagging down toward him. The almost transparent green leaves quivered at his touch, the branch being pushed back and then springing into place. Kizzy found this to be almost as entertaining as string. He was easily distracted.

He waded through his thoughts to return his attention to the men who accompanied him. Conversation wasn't really his thing, the words were rarely important to him, it was the voice that interested him. Kizzy found the sound of voices to be rather soothing, it reminded him in some strange way of his childhood, his busy household full of raucus brothers. He smiled at his own nostalgic thoughts. "Marcello," the name rolled off his tongue, "I haven't seen you in awhile. Has something been keeping you away?" He frowned childishly, as if the other man had purposefully neglected him, even if he knew it wasn't true.
