I'm probably crazy for even thinking this but, does Snape have something for Narcissa(Malfoy's mom). I mean, he did the unbreakable vow thing just for her and all.

Don't feel to bad. I got a vibe between those two that made a romance seem quite likely.

You're not crazy, I felt that Snape had a soft spot for Narcissa in that chapter but I think it may just be because she is a mother pleading for her son's life. Snape, to me, seems to have a weakness for his mother, so another mother pleading for her son would tug at his heartstrings. That's just my thought though.

possibly; what I really see is Narcissa expertly manipulating Snape, either with or without her sister's complicity...it's just too fishy.

I got that impression, too. He seemed kinder than he typically is, and I don't think Narcissa's situation was the only factor. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, eh?

I kind of feel like the whole contrast between the two pureblood ladys was important here, that that was the real factor....and of course, she's out of his league (on multiple levels), but that's what makes it so exciting...

I got that impression too. 3nodding In fact, I think part of the reason he agreed to the Unbreakable Vow was because Narcissa was the one begging him. (I still think he's on Dumbledore's side though, just that he...has more positive feelings for her than for anyone else)

Indeed. when asked if Snape had ever loved, Jo replied, something to the effect of "Do any of you pay attention to what i write?"
But i also got the Vibe that he at one point liked Lilly...but that's just me.

When I read it, I got a vibe as well, but the other day someone wrote something that really contradicted what I thought (Cant remember where it is though) I still like the idea of this though, but it is one of those things that confuses me a little.

I think that Snape doesn't really have a thing for Narcissa, but it was good for his well-being to make the Unbreakable Vow so he did it. He seems to be out for himself due to his behavior, like how he gave himself the nickname "The Half-Blood Prince" which elevated his standing and also the fact that he only became a spy after he had related the prophecy to the Dark Lord and it was better for him to switch sides. However, like always, my opinion could be completely wrong, and as long as JKR is alive, the HP universe is always changing.

And then it makes me wonder why she went to Snape for help in the first place. Why him? How many other Death Eaters are there? Yes, he does have the advantage of being right there in Hogwarts, but I'm sure other Death Eaters could have had a way to help. And also, I kinda got that whole Lilly/Snape vibe... whee

I really have to disagree here. I catch the feelings for Lily that Snape had at one point, but for Narcissa I think he was just covering his own butt.
As I am still on the fence regarding whether Snape is actually good or evil, it can be seen in two ways:
IF Snape is on Dumbledore's side, he is working as a spy on Voldemort and the Death Eathers. Bellatrix, being ever skeptical of his real position, is there with Narcissa trying to call Snape out on where his true loyalties lay. If Snape refuses to make the Unbreakable Vow, then Bellatrix can go running back to Voldemort to rat Snape out as a spy.
IF Snape is on Voldemort's side, then of course he would want Voldemort's ultimate goal (the death of Dumbledore) seen to fruition. As we all know that Draco was not capable of actually killing Dumbledore (at least at this stage in his life), Snape, being reasonably close to Draco and the whole Malfoy family, would know this as well. He would want to make the Unbreakable Vow in order to ensure the temporary safety of Draco and to accomplish the deed that Voldemort so desperately wants finished.
I think that Snape is kind to Narcissa because, despite his somewhat evil ways, he is not a truly malicious and mean person just for the sake of being mean. He is a tormented person with a lot of inner strife and a complicated past. (Recall the penseive glimpses we see of the outcast role that Snape was forced into at school. Also note the desire he felt to save Harry, at least once, in order to wipe the slate clean for James saving his life in the Whomping Willow/Werewolf fiasco.) I get the same feeling from Narcissa, in that if circumstances were different in her past and present, she would probably not choose to be on the evil side of this whole comflict. I think that the feelings between Snape and Narcissa are more on the sibling compassion side of the scale, than the romantic love side.
