This may help people with how to fight in roleplay form, these are the steps I use when forming a post.
Creativity-being how well are their attacks thought out? Are they fair? Are they unique? And have they described a fair possible outcome to that attack?
Literacy/Depth: How much effort did he/she put into her post? Is it a one liner hit, or is it elaborate explanation of a well thought out attack?
Example Creativity, literacy/depth: Talic slowly circles his opponent searching for an opening to attack, noticing his foes flawless defense he decides to create his own. Conjuring his signature power the blue flame he forms it around his gauntlet and dashes it to the ground before his opponent, an explosion erupts from the location and dust envelops the area. Talic proceeds from his opponents flank under the Translucent veil of the dust flourishing upward with IceVarg at his opponents back, possibly causing a scratch to a deep slash unto his foe.
Experience/skill: Is he/she able to tell a good attack from a bad, from his/her opponent? A good attack is one that should have some inflicting damage or effect upon the player. And if not, was the player able to fairly and cleverly counter the attack?
Example: As his opponent was stuck in the motion of his forward blow Talic ducked and moved under his guard thrusting IceVarg up towards his chin. His opponent quick jerked his body to the side as the blade grazed his flesh leaving a small cut. He then clenched his arms around Talic's blade and twisted hard in attempt to disarm him.
I also use a three process step.
1) What move will your opponent make? - Your guesses will probably never be right, however you have to at least try to anticipate his/her next move.
2) How can I manipulate that move? - You gotta think hard for this one, what is the flaw in your opponents attack?
Example: Talic raises his blade and charges slashing forward
Analysis: If you or your opponent did such an attack the persons body would be caught in a forward momentum meaning you are at the mercy of your opponent if he/she is clever and quick enough to dodge to the side, or under your guard and deliver a decisive blow. Being stuck in a forward momentum means you wont be able to react very well and your options would be limited, you wouldn't be able to go backwards. Choices would be leaping forward, running forward, running to either side forward, etc.
Another Example: Talic prepares for his ultimate attack, as blue flames engulf his body and he takes the appearance of a fiery serpent.
Analysis: An attack like that is obviously going to take up a lot of energy, and you have to let your opponent know this if he doesn't acknowledge this from the start. The only way to approach an attack like this would be to weather it, if you can survive a few turns of attack then your opponent will be depleted and an easy target.
3) What will be the outcome of the manipulation? - You have to give your opponent an idea of what will be the outcome, and he/she will decide if it's fair or whether to avoid it.
Well this is all I can think of for a proper guide right now, I hope this will help you.
