The story

Sasuke Uchiha, a ninja from a notable clan, has been banished from the Leaf Village. The curse that an evil warlord named Orochimaru had placed on Sasuke's tender neck had activated at the worst possible moment, causing Sasuke to murder in cold blood another notable Ninja named Leader Kakashi.

Not only that, but Sasuke wasn't welcome in the Akatsuki lands either. This was because of when Sasuke murdered Orochimaru.

Thinking that death was the only way to get out of this awful mess, Sasuke entered a forbidden area called the Forest of Death. He figured that the creatures in there would swallow him up for sure or at the very least, he would be able to end his life at a fairly rapid pace.
