I know mostly everyone in this guild is formally trained in a tradtional art ... so here's the question ... if you were to go into mixed martial arts ... what type of fighter would you be ... you got the strikers that are technical or brawl ... you have the grapplers that submit or wrestle and ground n pound ... or will you be the jack of all trades ... it is your decision ...

Per the poll at the forum entry, I am a technical striker in most cases. I bide my time, wait for a chance to strike, and then execute with the most effective technique I can. Periodically I do grapple, but in a street situation grappling is usually useless (if he has friends, ground grappling is a great way to get yourself knocked out) beyond its capacity to help control one opponent while dealing with another. Our local MMA school likes to teach their students that striking is superior, and though I've gone in there only a couple times to observe, I find that I cannot reproach that technique.

Definitely a technical striker ... throw plenty of punches and make sure I hit ... sounds pretty nice to me ... expose my opponent's holes ... I would also get a helluva sprawl ... to keep it standing ...

I love ground work ... especailly the submissions ... there is a certain satisfaction when you lock in a choke or a joint lock ...

Yeah your striking isn't the best ... a few suggestions ... the problem I see is that you see a bag ... think of the bag as a person ... a person has a head, a body, and legs ... you're only limiting your attack to the head and legs ... work the body ... it's there and a much bigger target ... also think of the bags movement as a person's movement ... use that to work your footwork and defense (like head movement and countering)...
also your limiting your combinations ... you're only throwing a 1-2-1 (jab-cross-jab) ... 3 (lead hook) ... 4 (back hook) ... 10 (rear round house) and tees ... there's no speed and your leaving a lot of time between strikes ... mix it up ... that's the great thing about striking ... nothing is wrong as long as you keep your hands up ... change angles also .. it will help with finishing your combintions ... and you throw wide ... keep it tight ... also you move back a lot ... don't be afraid to clinch (muay thai, Greco-Roman, dirty boxing, etc) ...
the only other problem I see is the way you throw the tee ... you're pushing with the foot ... push the knee ... if you want an example watch the part in 300 where Leonidas push kicks the Persian emessary into the pit ... perfect example ...
I know it sounds hard ... someone telling you about your flaws ... it gets annoying and generally people get angry with it ... but I see the flaws there ... the same flaws I've had to deal with ... trying plug in thouse holes ... and help you improve ... try it and see ... then come back to me ...

Well i like criticism ,beside that i record myself alot and seem get better everytime, about the tee in 300 they use the heel not the toes tho(er not the toes you know what i mean that area on foott)...yes i hate clinching that why when i clinch i tend to throw sneaky punch to get the person off me. its drain me the clinch omg i need to work on that. the reason i walk way like is i mentally throwing round house and follow up combos maybe i should go back learning the basic in kickboxing. beside i know how hit hard , but i was affriad to kick/punch harder and break the mirrors.god i hate LA finest.your right tho about the combo but the power is there tho. i love striking but i hate the fact i look like a semi pro or a Amateur Fighter.

The tee from 300 started at the knee though ... anyway ... I know the clinch is draining ... but imagine against an actual opponent who resists everything ... it will be ten times worse ...
Here's what I suggest ... seperate everything into 3 minute rounds ... first round focus on speed ... second round ... focus on power ... third round ... focus on clinch work ... fourth round ... focus on defense ... and fifth round put everything together ... every round make sure you get the technique in ... and don't forget combinations ...
And don't worry about the mirrors ... just focus on the workout ...

Comparing you two ...you're clearly different ... baka_boy is more on his toes ... while hotpopcorn is a bit flat footed ... your striking is also different ... baka_boy attack is more varied ... and he is throwing a lot more ... hotpopcorn ... when you throw you throw with power ... comparing clinches also ... clearly different ... positioning of the head too ... baka_boy has his chin tucked ... hotpopcorn ... your head is just kinda up there ...
Striking wise ... I would give the edge to baka_boy only because he is more varied in his attack ... changes levels ... has a bit more head movement ...
