The sun was high in the sky, beaming down hard over the fields. In the heat of mid-day. As Malimau wandered, she found herself panting from the heat. She turned and headed towards the watering hole, head low in the grass, avoiding any confrontations. Usually she was a pretty cheery girl, but today, between the heat and her lack of sleep, she was feeling quite sad and lonely. It had been weeks since she had last seen either Hasani or Denny and she was beginning to worry about her boys who were so close to her heart. She often forgot that they were grown up and adults now having had two of her other pups disappear with their father when they were only adolescents.
As she reached the watering hole, she lowered her head to the water, drinking deeply. She so enjoyed the cool water that she submerged her head to cool off. She lifted her head from the water, shaking the excess from her face and then flopped into the grass under a tree nearby, hoping that the shade and the proximity to the water would help her cool off some more.
