As far as the show is concerned, there are five clans into which the Kindred are seperated. They stand as follows:

Nosferatu: These are the oldest Kindred, and the most powerful. They are not peaceful, but they do not go into battles if they can help it. Their services in a clan war come at a high price. They are said to be so hideous that they cannot walk around among humans like other Kindred. All the Nosferatu are bald. Nosferatu practice alchemy. Thier clan members are so deadly that they are always feared, even if they are not always respected. Nosferatu are intense friends, and naturally loyal to their rightful ruler. They do not seek political power for themselves. They live in underground places, under the protection of the Ventrue.

Ventrue: These are businessmen and blue-bloods. They have cool heads and charismatic appearances and personalities. Ventrue are natural leaders. They like things to be done neatly, and more often than not, by the book. Ventrue are ruthless in all things, and exceedingly wealthy. A Ventrue will not hesitate going into a fight, but will fight logically. This means it is difficult to force a war on a Ventrue leader. They are close to the Nosferatu, and they despise the Brujah.

Brujah: Blue- collar workers with a lust for power. They are middle-class citizens. Brujah tend to be built bulky. They are strong, and they know it. A Brujah is more ruthless than a Ventrue, but nothing compared to the Nosferatu. They don't jump into fights; they cause the fights. Most Brujah are not to be trusted, they will break human laws, Kindred laws, and turn their backs on even their own sires. Nothing in the world makes a Brujah's anger swell and his skin crawl more than the sight of a Gangrel, unless it's the sight of a Gangrel enjoying himself.

Gangrel: Gypsies and bikers. Most Gangrel come and go as they please, but a Gangrel primogen will stay close to his or her city. Gangrel are animalistic in their appearance and behavior. They get along easily with every clan but the Brujah. Gangrel are quick to anger, so it doesn't take much to get them into a fight. They are equal in their fighting skills with the Brujah, and more trustworthy to boot. You will often find some Gangrel clansmen working as bodyguards for the ruler of the city. Fast, clever, and brutal, the Gangrel clan has no qualms whatsoever about going to war.

Toreador: Toreador are a clan of artists and musicians. If it's creative, the Toreador do it. They are the most attractive of the Kindred, and they love to entertain. Toreador are like snakes. They fight on the sly, playing mind-games and pitting people against eachother to achieve thier own ends. Toreador love luxury, and they have impeccable taste in all things. Their powers lie in artistry. From music to the art of Romance, once a human becomes Toreador, all his or her right-brained tendancies achieve their full potential. Toreador are emotional Their emotions are especially tuned in to love and desire.
