The legal issues, the way I understand them are this:

Interplay, the company that made every Fallout game before Fallout 3, sold the Fallout rights to Bethesda. Bethesda, as we should all know, made Fallout 3, working on Fallout: New Vegas. Gamers rejoice. Interplay releases concept art and drawings for a Fallout MMO: Bethesda claims that this violates the contract, and that all work on this project should be surrendered to Bethesda, now the rightful owners of the Fallout franchise. Interplay disputes this. That's everything, I think.

As for a Fallout MMO, if this doesn't wind up being resolved some time in the next couple of months, which I really doubt it will, I wouldn't expect anything like Fallout MMO any time soon. Also, the way things are beginning to appear, there won't be anything relating to the Fallout property: New Vegas was scheduled for a 2010 release, but without so much as a teaser trailer or screenshots being released, I'd say we're not going to get even that much for awhile either.

that makes me sad D: why cant these guys just get together at a table or something and just agree to work together for all of the fans of the fallout series i dont doubt that yeah bethesda is kinda upset about this but maybe its all just a big misunderstanding which i hope it isent because if it ends up the way i hope with bethesda and interplay working together then we will all have a neer perfect mmo maybe even better then...i dont want to say this but i dont play the game so whtever lol....well im thinking it might be better then world of warcraft

Well, I can tell you right now that they aren't going to work together for one main reason: money. Why would they split the money when they could do the whole game and make all the profit?

Basically, I would say one of three things could happen. 1) Bethesda is going to win this lawsuit, and they'll take the whole Fallout MMO idea and scrap it, 2) Bethesda is going to win the lawsuit, and they'll take the Fallout MMO and out it so far on the back burner that we probably won't see it for another ten years, or 3) Bethesda will decide to go ahead and let Interplay keep the MMO and decide to work on their other franchises.

You forgot the fact that interplay got the rights from Bethesda to make one more fallout game. If they got rights for it to be a MMORPG or any kind of game I don't know. But if it's a MMORPG I would want it to be done by interplay. If not I at least want the traditional fallout (Top down 2D view) looks. Because a First person MMORPG would be horrible in my mind.

There could be a possible 4th option. Bethesda will win and give it to a small dev company that makes good games. They will make it and Bethesda will A. Publish it(Thats a no brainier) B. Possibly buy them out.
