...and I'm looking for new RPs for them. I'll forgo pics for now and share them later, maybe.
As I mention (A lot) I used to play and admin at a site that (while still technically there.) has died. None of the good players go there anymore, and there aren't many people on there at a time. sad
So, my characters came to an untimely end before I was ready to part with them. I've been missing/craving these characters. I can't really change them for these RPs and I've showed them to people on Gaia and they are not very well received. Mostly because they aren't commonly very 'pretty'. I used to play very realistic characters, normal people, with average looks, and anything other than a rockin' bod.
I have quite a few so I won't go into grand detail about them, but I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in doing a one-on-one or if they'd mind if I put those old characters into a group RP.
They aren't ugly and they aren't terrible, they're just not models or anime. Questions, comments, concerns?

A good chunk of them (nearly all) are modern day humans. I played them in my personal room which was modern day New York city, and they all eventually became intertwined. Some are kinda like package deals, others not so much.
Quick example:
Sanglais Cousteau Nighshad and his nephew Sidney Nicholas Reeve.
San is nearly fifty at this point. He's elegant and feminine, loving, kind, caring, loves to gossip, but never means any ill toward anyone. He has three grown children (those characters were played by a friend of mine from the old site.) and his wife passed away. (She was a b***h so it's all good.)
Sidney is San's sister's second son. He was the star quarterback in highschool, but due to a few different things he gained some weight, and got pushed to linebacker, then quit the team out of frustration and pressure from his dad. His last year of high school he moved to live with his uncle because of all the turmoil at home. Not playing sports anymore his personality changed; he became a bit sour, but also became more interested in computers and games. He also doesn't know what to do with his life. He is currently 26-ish, working at a WaWa, and living with his uncle still.
They are two of my favorites but people don't like San because he's too old and Sidney because he's fat. Go figure, huh? Everybody seems to like everything else about them.

Now you see, I like them a lot because of those two things. I think the real problem people have is that these two are real people. Too real. But not for me, I like. What sort of story situation did you put them in? Was it day to day or was there a set scenario?

I have general curiosity as well.
I'm not the kind of person that enjoys romance, so I could care less the kind of people others play. I would be willing to do a role-play with you playing some of your normal characters.
my issue is that I pretty much only play fantasy and scifi. "Real life" situations are excruciatingly boring for me-- I get enough of it every day. So... I don't know where I'm going with this, other than if you're up to playing this average characters in a modern fantasy.

They were in a modern day fantasy with vampires. They actually knew my characters I have in the Club Envy RP. It was a bit day-to-day.... then there's vampires and werewolves and aliens, ect ect. Actually, my character in Nightmare RP, Maggie, had a crush on Sidney. Does that help give an idea for the RP? We would also set up what they did for holidays and kinda gloss over them, too. It was fun and quaint when we didn't have the epic ideas. smile
Love and romance are always an option for me for any character, but not really ever something I hoped for.
So, what ideas do you guys have? Solos or groups? Either is fine! ^_^ I'm just thrilled to be able to play them again. They could also move to some place that isn't NY to be able to fit into an rp setting.

well... you and I ran into a conflict before, where vampires are concerned. I'm sure we have different tastes as far as fantasy in general, which might not be compatible. it's something I'm always eager to talk about though.
With modern fantasy, my recent (casual) ideas have been about the, er, global changes of the supernatural community, and how they affect people at a local level. By this I mean playing "average citizens" in the magical community, who don't have a say in politics, and really aren't able to change anything- maybe in their city or neighborhood, but not on a large scale. Mostly, a character drama focused around the way people act and change in times of fear, as an over-arching theme, and with plenty of, um, exploration as far as living a normal life with magic, the way the supernatural community is setup, and the way mages interact with other races.
Specific political conflicts (on a large scale) that would affect the setting and the way things progress is the media becoming more aware of magic, and the fear of imminent exposure and war; the militarization of the wizards and the way they antagonize violent conflict, when there used to be relative peace; in NYC and Europe, the increasingly violent war between Hunters and vampires; and then the antagonistic shadow groups that are trying to provoke a war.
That's my modern fantasy, and the type of ideas I introduce. It leaves room for something slow, focusing on character development, something more typical of a WoD story like a detective story, or touching on the larger, epic possibilities.
I do stick to the supernatural side of things, though. I really don't like playing with mundane humans, and it would be hard for me to work up an idea if you were going to play one. I can work with strong magic users, weak ones, and most supernatural races, but ordinary humans are much tougher, and lower on my list. but not impossible. and that's not at all a restriction on your preference toward "average" characters. old and fat people can have magic too. -nod-
so, if that's something that can pique your interest...?

I do like that story idea a lot, actually. But San and Sid are pretty normal. It might be one of those things where if I got desperate to play them I could say they've always had powers but never knew and they could develop them as apart of the role play. But I'd like to try to find a setting where they can be humans. Though I'm sure Sidney would kill for magic powers. :3

...and normal humans are tough for me to work with. With the whole Masquerade idea, revealing magic to a normal human practically warrants capital punishment. It would be rather one sided to try and work with most of these fantasy ideas while interacting with average humans, if you know what I mean.
even keeping it so that they knew the vampires of a particular night club, there's a lot of taboos that would keep them out of affairs. Sleepwalkers (normal people who are aware of magic) are in a tenuous position; privy to some of the magic of the world, but never a part of it. I mean, there could be such interactions as one of them sitting with Kitty in a coffee shop, asking questions as she types up her research on werewolf tribes- that can be a neat scene; but in general it be hard to work my fantasy ideas to include humans.
but if you have some good ideas to that effect, I'd be glad to hear them.

The RP they both came from was a wide mix of Sleepwalkers, regular humans and everything else you could imagine to play. (It sounds chaotic, but rarely was. It was a very different set up, come and go as you please kinda thing. It worked for a long while! XD ) Sometimes the humans were in danger, but then many different reasons for them to be there were thought up and worked in.
Sid and San were both always very intertwined with vampires. San's youngest daughter (Sidney's cousin) had become a vampire. (Which is actually why I was asked to make San. XD ) So, I brought the slice-of-life with San to the RP, then When I made Sidney a few years later I gave him a whole slew of human problems, then added in supernatural stuff. It was cooler than it sounds, trust me. 4laugh Sidney eventually dated a demon-girl. 3nodding
But anyway, for actual plot I'm not sure. Playing them for so long in one setting makes me think of all their old stuff.
And I love this eager willingness you have to work out a story with me. (Give me teh warm fuzzies.)
Edit: there will be a time when we both go "OMG, this is an awesome idea!" And we will rp off into the sunset. :3

well, I'm not used to thinking up reasons for letting humans hang out with any other race. The extent of what I'm used to, as far as that goes, is classic World of Darkness, where a mundane detective investigates a string of horrendous murders that drags them deeper into the supernatural underworld than anyone ever wants to be. And that's.. well, it takes more scheming than I want to take time for right now, and I'm not one for the really, really dark stuff.
I mean, I could talk about some of my typical characters that I'm likely to use, and we can see how to bend all this into a story where you get to use your average Americans, but... it's my instinct to treat these characters like the smart kids in high school- left out of anything interesting, teased behind their backs, and only occasionally allowed to eat lunch at the same table.... if that metaphor makes sense. I'm out of my element, is what I'm saying. I don't have anything already prepared that would work in characters like that, and I suck at plots.

I get your metaphor completely, luv.
Go ahead and list characters if you like. I mean we don't have to hash out a plot if you don't feel comfortable going out of your element, but I'm always open to kicking around ideas!
I'm actually going to go to beed soon and I'm not sure if I'll be online tomorrow so that will give you time to put up any character bios you feel might work. If it helps Sidney is grumpy, but nice, helpful, but not well motivated to better himself, just others. Everything always "sucks" or "is gay" but he's more open minded than he lets on. San on the other hand is a sweet motherly/fatherly figure, but he's physically weak.

@Sopheriel I agree with you on one thing: I can't play "normal" plots. Like "school" or something. I need some fantasy to boost up the excitement hehe.
@Leid ...unlike Sopheriel, I am pretty experienced roleplaying with "humans". Prolly because my roots are on Xanga and every other roleplayer is "A 16-year-old girl abused by her family come help me and be my bf XDDD" ...yes, that's probably why I moved on to Gaia where I have the chance to meet good roleplayers with interesting characters.
Here are my ideas:
1) OnexOne: Luckily for you, again, my roots in Xanga led me to make characters that are very open to be thrown in with any character. (By the way, if you don't know what it's like to roleplay on Xanga, go ahead and ask me to explain in detail--otherwise, I'm pretty sure I'm making NO sense).
So, I have two characters we can use for a one-on-one type roleplay.
I have one character, Raven, who has a "secret". I try to keep that "secret" a secret, too. Anyways. She's 16 but she is trying to get out of her house. So if your characters have a open guest room and are renting it out, that is one way they can interact. Or she works at a cafe in a city, so that might be another way for them to meet.
The other character sorta comes in a "set", but the main one is Marcus. He's older, around 22 years old, but looks strikingly 18. He also has a "Secret" that I can't disclose (I tried to make a novel with these two characters called "Secrets" before...didn't work out lol). Anyways, he's a do-any-kind-of-job guy. So it's very typical for him to take up odd jobs--so that is one way they can meet. He's real fun. Probably my favorite character I've ever made...but he's impossible to implement into roleplays due to his background.
With that said, there is also the entire Richmond guy who is sorta a badass sorcerer...if your characters had enough interaction with enough demons/supernatural stuff, you'd probably eventually meet this guy.
So you can think about that.
2) Forum roleplay. I'm kinda falling in love with these forum roleplays, because it keeps things interesting at a slowly pace. Anyways, I'll offer what ideas I can (though I'm kinda bad at this sort of thing x.x I'm surprised I got two threads up...and I mainly stole the first idea from--ah--everything cliche?). ...now that I look back at everything, I can't think of a way to implement them easily into anything. I guess because the way you describe them, I can EASILY see them in a one-on-one. As for anything else, well, I think you got to figure out how they can fit in a major story arc, you know?
...Unless it's something general like "You live in this city--GO"

Wow I disappeared for a bit and a lot was discussed, now that I have caught up:
My favorite normy happened to be an old retired army lieutenant. He had a sweet old wife, two sons who were in the army and a pet dog (A blue Heeler named Dot.) He drove an old pickup and lived quite the normal life it a small town built at the fork of a river. Best part was throwing him into the Zombie apocalypse and seeing if he could survive. Yeah I went through a phase with my norms throwing each into the Zombie Hordes, sadly Old Hank was the only one of them to survive.
But would a nice day to day thing be cool with you, if we say, threw in a zombie attack later on, and just saw that out. I mean obviously I no longer wish to see Hank die, but it would be an interesting turn of events for him to go through another one.

lesse... in fantasy I have a handful of characters I'm fond of. Ayoka, a classic action girl. Elle is, like, a soldier/cop for the supernatural community, and is suffering from shell-shock a little bit. I've got Sonya and Jamal, a pair of lycans- they're both punks, and like guardians of their pack. Kitty is possibly my favorite but most passive- she's an anthropologist. I sometimes play an elven huntress, too.
I do have a few normal characters, now that I think about it, that I cling to. Or at least, characters that I've adapted to be "normal". Most of my characters are pretty flexible in that regard, and I've scrunched them into several kinds of settings. Um, but I guess Amy is my classic average character. Last time I played her, she was an angry Irish teenager, and I haven't figured out what to do with her since. Um, Feyd and his little sister, who's uncle is in the Russian mob, and are being groomed to join him. Volatile usually gets a cameo as a weapons dealer, Hunter, or museum worker (actually related). Wolf shows up just about everywhere, as an extremely mysterious, charming, and brilliant little creep. sometimes his sister gets mentioned. um, Lazuli would have to be played as well, either as a businessman or a rich kid, and a heartless jerk either way. then I have a whole gigantic dysfunctional family of Orwellian megalomaniacs, of which you only see a few of the younger generation. But I use them to allude to a super-rich family- which is actually a, uh, toned down version of my angel mythology.
A lot of my "normal" cast actually started off as a joke. I had a long standing rp partner a while ago, and we had a range of stories from vampires, to angels, to evil robots. and after a few years we said, "hey... lets put all of our characters together for a high school role-play." Since these were some of my earliest role-plays, a lot of the characters turned out to be more interesting and thought out as ordinary high school students than in any other incarnation. -nod- frightening. Of course... this was years ago, and I stopped caring about 90% of them, but I might consider taking a second glance and working them into a role-play.
Oh! Kimberly. She's one of my newer characters. Damn, I have so many! Most of whom I've forgotten about. I need to glance back at my work and put them back on the shelf.
