(Rough first post set up.)
The wind whistled, the sun shone and gravel grumbled with every step. A man walked along the deserted and ruined city. The buildings were made of metal and glass but now they are rusted and shattered. The man was of a medium build with dark brown hair kicked a stone into the distance. His grey eyes watched as the stone hit a once useful sign. His clothes where basic and covered in dirt and dust with a cloak flapping behind him. He was Envoy and he has seen many worlds, many lives, many deaths and many battles. He’d been wondering this world for a few days now. He travelled here through time and space; the same way he travels to many places. Now he waits, waiting for the next gate to allow him to pass on to the next world. He’d been sensing a gap in reality since he got here and has been heading to it since. Some rust gave up and part of a building fell to the ground in the distance. Envoy could hear the metal cry out in pain as it was ripped and broken by time and gravity. Then just as sudden as it happened it went quiet.
Envoy’s ear then picked up another noise, he thought it was his mind but it was real, he could hear a child crying. Trying to pin point the noise he looked round as it seemed to echo in the vast emptiness of the dead city. Concentrating he walked forwards and turn to his right. His eyes widened as he saw the child sitting up against what was left of a wall. “Hello? ... Are you ok?” Envoy asked in a calm friendly voice. The boy looked up in shock at Envoy and stared at him for a while. He looked about 10 and his blonde hair was short and messy; his brown eyes were red and sore from crying. After some silence the boy spoke with a quiver in his voice, “Do you know where I am? What happened to my parents? I wanna go home!” He began to cry again. Envoy walked up to him and unclipped his cloak and wrapped it around the boy. Sitting next to the child Envoy ruffled the boys hair, “Now now, don’t cry. I’m here to help you. My names Envoy, what’s yours?” The boy looked up at him and wiped his eyes, “I’m... Kyle.” The two then exchanged smiles and handshakes. “So Kyle, tell me how you go here.” Envoy asked. Kyle looked up and shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t know. I was with my parents in the park having a picnic when all of a sudden there was this bright light. Then I was here.” Tears began to well up in his eyes again. “Well that is odd said Envoy... How long have you been here?” Kyle didn’t look up this time and just replied “I don’t know, I think it’s been all day.” Standing up Envoy held out his hand, “Well you’re not going to get home by sitting there are you? Come on let’s find a way to get you home.” Kyle took Envoy’s hand and they began to walk along the sand covered road.
As they walked, the two chatted as Envoy tried to cheer the boy up. Suddenly Envoy stopped and looked up. A dark cloud was spinning in the sky and a light seemed to pulse within it. A droplet of light fell from the sky and crashed into an abandoned vehicle. Kyle gripped Envoy’s hand tight and moved behind him but still peeked. A growl was heard from the crash site and then a creature jumped out and landed on his four legs. It resembled sometime like a tiger, but it was larger and had a horn. Envoy glanced up at the sky and then at the creature. He knew what was going on now. There was a crack in space time and things were falling through. Envoy guessed this is what happened to Kyle, and may happen to others so he had to seal the rip.
The creature sniffed the air and took some steps forwards. “What is that thing!?” Kyle asked as the creature seemed to get its bearings. “I’m not sure, but say behind me.” There was a chance that since Kyle didn’t know this creature then it was from a different time and place. But he was only 10 and doesn’t know every species on his home world. The creatures yellow eyes then transfixed themselves onto Envoy and Kyle. In the blink of an eye the creature ran straight from them to attack. Envoy stood his ground and gripped the hilt of his sword. The creature leaped into the air and Envoy copied. The two clashed in midair, but with one swing of his weapon the creature was slain. Its lifeless body hit the ground with a squelchy thud as Envoy sheathed his sword. He turned to see if Kyle was fine and only found his cloak lying on the ground. Droplets of blood were scattered on the ground. Picking his cloak up he then clipped it back into place and scanned the area around him. There must be more creatures around here; very fast, stealthy creatures if they were able to grab the boy without Envoy knowing. Cursing under his breath he now had to find the boy before it was too late. Glancing back up to the rip in space time he had to find a way to get up there and close the gap before more helpless people get sucked through and more deadly creatures appear.
